A picturesque skiing city nestled in the heart of the Kootenays, Revelstoke has continued to draw a diverse variety of tourists, weekenders, adventurers, and explorers. It comes complete with stunning mountain vistas and a laid-back atmosphere, and the best part is that there are fewer crowds than in other popular mountain towns in BC, so you get a more local feel of the town!
When it comes to choosing where to stay in Revelstoke, you have plenty of choices, from hotels and resorts to mountain chalets and B&Bs. This ski and snowboard paradise may be small in population, but it has developed an accommodation industry ready to meet the needs and budgets of every visitor.
The only problem here is that the town is split by a large river, making it somewhat tricky to get around. So, while making your travel plans, it’s essential to consider the best area to stay in Revelstoke before booking your hotel.
It seems pretty daunting, I know, which is why I’ve come up with this guide to help you get sorted! So whether you’re looking for breathtaking scenery, a thrilling skiing experience, or just a quiet retreat, I’ve got you covered with this complete guide about where to stay in Revelstoke!
Where are the BEST Areas to Stay in Revelstoke
So you’ve decided to spend your ski holiday in Canada’s Snowmobile Capital. What comes next? This blog post will introduce you to three of Revelstoke’s best areas (downtown, Revelstoke Mountain Resort, and the outskirts of Revelstoke), as well as some of my personal hotel suggestions.
If you’re visiting this snowy city for the first time, you’ll most likely want a more touristy neighborhood like Downtown Revelstoke. Some of the best things to do in Revelstoke are located here. There are tons of excellent places to eat in this area, and the nightlife is certainly worth experiencing!
However, if you are in Revelstoke in the winter, Revelstoke Mountain Resort is the place to be for skiers and snowboarders.
You can also book the best hotels in Revelstoke on the outskirts of the town closer to Mount Revelstoke National Park. This is your best bet if you prefer a peaceful getaway during the summer months in Revelstoke.
Wherever you want to stay, always consider what you want to experience on your trip first. So, to give you a better idea of these three areas in Revelstoke, I’ve written in detail about each of them below – let’s jump right in!
Downtown Revelstoke
Since Revelstoke is a pretty tiny city, most excellent cafés, pubs, and restaurants are concentrated in the downtown area. This quaint but charming district is also dotted with cute boutiques, most of which are locally owned and managed and feature handcrafted souvenirs created by local artisans. Expect to see many shops selling hiking and skiing equipment, too.
Aside from the abundance of stores, Downtown Revelstoke offers a variety of historical buildings to see. Just north of downtown is a brick courthouse, dating back to 1912. You should also drop by the Revelstoke Railway Museum and the Revelstoke Museum and Archives.
One thing to note about the downtown area is that on-foot travel is encouraged here. That said, make sure to choose from the best hotels in Revelstoke that are close to the attractions you want to visit.
Advantages to staying in downtown Revelstoke:
- Shops, restaurants, and historical attractions are all within walking distance.
- You can experience Revelstoke’s authenticity and small-town charm.
- Lots of options for hotels
Disadvantages of staying in downtown Revelstoke:
- Hotel prices are relatively high and can skyrocket during peak season.
- Finding a parking space is a nightmare.
- If you don’t have a car, getting to Revelstoke Mountain Resort can be a bit of a hassle since you have to catch the Resort Shuttle Service, which can get pretty packed during the winter season.

The Best Hotels in Downtown Revelstoke
$$$ – Regent Hotel Revelstoke
Housed in the completely renovated 1911 McKinnon building, Regent Hotel Revelstoke is known as Revelstoke’s premium boutique hotel. It features a total of 9 well-appointed rooms, personalized service, a private rooftop guest lounge, and an in-house restaurant, providing each visitor with a one-of-a-kind luxury experience.
The rooms come with a blend of 1911 brick and exquisite woodwork, as well as locally sourced furniture, handmade headboards, and cozy fabrics to create a rustic and sophisticated ambiance. You also have access to beverage centers, a French Press coffee machine, a flat-screen TV, Wi-Fi, and an en-suite bathroom with complimentary toiletries.
Truly a unique accommodation, The Explorers Society Hotel is just ten minutes away by car from the Revelstoke Mountain Resort Ski Lift and eleven minutes away on foot from the Revelstoke Railway Museum.

$$ – Swiss Chalet Motel
Located in the center of Revelstoke, the Swiss Chalet is a modest and budget-friendly motel. It comes complete with convenient amenities like free Wi-Fi, a TV in a common area, a picnic area, and free parking. There is a complimentary shuttle service to Revelstoke Mountain Resort you can also avail of throughout the winter season. While there is no on-site restaurant or bar, they do provide a healthy grab-and-go breakfast.
The Swiss Chalet is home to 22 air-conditioned rooms featuring Simmons Recharge Comfort Top Mattresses. Each room is outfitted with an en-suite bathroom with a shower/tub combo and a hairdryer. Other in-room amenities include a K-Cup coffee machine, flat-screen TV with HD channels, and a mini or bar-size fridge. Select rooms also come with a balcony and a view of the mountains.
When it comes to nearby attractions, the Columbia River is just a five-minute walk from the Swiss Chalet Motel. In addition, the Revelstoke Mountain Resort is only 14 minutes away by car, while the Revelstoke Airport and Mount Revelstoke National Park are within 5 miles of the motel.

$ – Alpine Inn & Suites
Alpine Inn & Suites is a humble accommodation provider sitting in downtown Revelstoke. It provides complimentary in-room wireless Internet access, BBQ facilities, and a shuttle bus pass to the mountain resort throughout the ski season. You can also find a free parking area here for boats, snowmobiles, and long trailers (up to 50 feet). On-site beverage vending machines are available, and a supermarket is just within walking distance.
When it comes to in-room amenities, each one is well-appointed with a microwave, mini-fridge, electric kettle, and coffee-making facilities. If you prefer to prep your meals during your stay, you can book the kitchen suites that come with a fully equipped kitchen. There is also a flat-screen HDTV with on-demand channels and free local calls included in the room rates.
I love this property because you can enjoy the dreamy mountain view from each room/suite.
Alpine Inn & Suites is also just 15 minutes away by car from Revelstoke Mountain Resort and five minutes away from Mount Revelstoke National Park. If you feel like exploring, the Columbia River is only a 10-minute walk away.

Revelstoke Mountain Resort
If you’re visiting in the winter and are unsure where to stay in Revelstoke, I recommend basing yourself in the southern part of the city near the Revelstoke Mountain Resort on Mount Mackenzie’s slopes.
As the only ski resort in town, it features one of North America’s most skiable vertical feet and some of the world’s best steep runs. That said, the property has been known as a mecca for freeskiing, aprés-ski facilities, and ski and snowboard lessons.
If you’re coming to Revelstoke in the summer, have no fear as there are plenty of other activities you can do in this ski resort. You have the Pipe Mountain Coaster, Aerial Adventure Park, Axe Throwing, hiking, and mountain biking. You can always head to the downtown district, too, to check out the locally-owned shops and restaurants.
Advantages of staying near Revelstoke Mountain Resort:
- There are plenty of family-friendly attractions on the premises.
- You’ll be right in the middle of the action when it comes to skiing.
- You’ll be closer to the gondola that will treat you to an epic view of the valley.
Disadvantages of staying near Revelstoke Mountain Resort:
- Accommodation prices can soar in the ski season.
- The drive to the downtown area can be a hassle, especially getting parking once you’re there.
- You will miss the vibrant nightlife in Downtown Revelstoke.
- There are only a few restaurants within walking distance since most of them are in the town center.

The Best Hotels near Revelstoke Mountain Resort
$$$ – Sutton Place Hotel
If you’re looking to ski or snowboard in Revelstoke, you’ve only got one on-the-mountain option. The Sutton Place Hotel at Revelstoke Mountain Resort, a modern condo-style hotel, is the only accommodation directly at the foot of the main chairlift.
This slope-side property offers you a close-up perspective of the snowy action and lets you ski straight in and out of the building (the only one in town to provide such an amenity). So naturally, the hotel also features ski storage and rentals and a ski pass vendor on-site.
There are four eateries you can find on the premises, as well as an underground heated parking lot with valet service. Of course, if you’re not up for skiing, you can always just relax in the outdoor heated pool and the outdoor hot tub overlooking the mountains.
With 200 self-catering condominium rooms, the Sutton Place Hotel suits those looking for that big large resort atmosphere. The suites here range from studios to three bedrooms and are furnished with contemporary dark wood furniture, gas fireplaces, flat-screen TVs, and washer and dryers. The bigger units include a fully equipped kitchen.
When you stay at the Sutton Place Hotel during the warmer months, you can go hiking from the resort or ride bikes down the slopes. You’re also only feet away from the gondola, which takes you up to the Revelstoke Mountain Resort and treats you to a panoramic view of the valley.

$$ – Alpenrose Revelstoke Bed & Breakfast
Starring a seasonal outdoor hot tub and complimentary tea, coffee, and hot chocolate, Alpenrose Revelstoke Bed & Breakfast will truly make you feel at home while in Revelstoke. This cozy property comes with a boot dryer, ski and bike storage, and free Wi-Fi on-site. The owners also serve a hot breakfast every morning to get you ready for the day. If you’d rather prepare your food, a shared fridge, microwave, toaster, and plates are available.
The best perk I love about this B&B is that the local shuttle service stops right outside the property and can take you to the town center or the ski slope. Thanks to the property’s prime location, you are also just a three-minute ride to the gondola at Revelstoke Mountain Resort and a five-minute ride to all city center amenities.
There are only four guestrooms in Alpenrose Revelstoke B&B, all of which are equipped with DVD players, flat-screen TVs with cable programming, in-room heat control, and free Wi-Fi. In addition, the private bathrooms come complete with complimentary and eco-friendly shampoo and soap and a hairdryer.

Outskirts of Revelstoke Town
If you prefer a laidback setting to a busy and crowded town, then the best hotels in Revelstoke for you are located on the outskirts of the city. These remote retreats are ideal for anybody looking for a peaceful break from the bustling city center. Not only will they bring you closer to nature, but they will also provide you with a one-of-a-kind stay.
While on the outskirts of Revelstoke, you’ll have the opportunity to mingle with other like-minded visitors and talk with friendly and enthusiastic staff members, who will gladly share with you some insider tips about the town.
Advantages of staying on the outskirts of Revelstoke town:
- Reasonable room rates are among the perks to look forward to.
- You have direct mountain access to some of the most renowned backcountry in Canada.
- More outdoor sports, such as snowmobiling in the winter and canoeing, ATV, or mountain biking in the summer, are readily accessible.
Disadvantages of staying on the outskirts of Revelstoke town:
- Driving distance to the attractions, restaurants, and shops in the city center is a hassle.
- You won’t get a taste of Revelstoke’s lively atmosphere.
- Some places are quite a drive from the ski resort.
The Best Hotels on the Outskirts of Revelstoke
$$$ – Glacier House Hotel & Resort
The Glacier House Hotel and Resort is ideal for those seeking more isolated lodging with easy access to the wilderness. This cozy lodge cabin-style accommodation overlooks Begbie Glacier and features an indoor pool, hot tub, and sauna. You can also find a play park and different garden games like croquet and lawn bowls on the premises.
It’s easily one of the most beautiful places to stay in Revelstoke.
From the middle of April until the middle of November, guests staying at the Glacier House Hotel & Resort can enjoy a complimentary light continental breakfast. During the winter, they serve a completely hot American-style breakfast buffet for an additional fee.
If you plan to stay here, you can enjoy the comforts of fireplace rooms or log cabins with free Wi-Fi, satellite TV, and a coffee maker. Of course, you get views of the surrounding mountains from each room, too.
The best part is that you’re not really out of reach when you’re here. In fact, it only takes 20 minutes to drive to the Revelstoke Mountain ski area and 10 minutes to get to downtown Revelstoke from the hotel. The property also provides direct snowmobile access to nearby mountains like Boulder, Frisby, and Turtle.

$$ – Basecamp Resorts Revelstoke
The boutique hotel resort Basecamp Revelstoke is nestled on the banks of the Columbia River just outside of the downtown area and roughly a 15-minute shuttle ride from the must-see Revelstoke Mountain Resort. Catering to both families and outdoor enthusiasts, this property offers spectacular views, free private parking, outdoor hot tubs, and top-notch service.
At this hotel, the rooms are made to be simple but highly functional. A smart TV with satellite channels and a private bathroom with a hairdryer, a shower, and complimentary toiletries come standard with every room. Each one is fitted with air conditioning, a separate seating area, a kitchen, and a dining area, too.
When you stay at Basecamp Resorts Revelstoke, you will be only a few steps away from the Columbia Mountains and Columbia River. There are also tons of attractions within a 13-mile radius, including The Enchanted Forest Revelstoke, Revelstoke Railway Museum, Skytrek Adventure Park Revelstoke, and Three Valley Gap Ghost Town.

Sitting right at the doorstep of Mt. Revelstoke National Park, the Revelstoke Campground is the perfect base camp to get away and reconnect with nature. It offers a natural setting on the outskirts of Revelstoke and an array of amenities and activities like year-round outdoor adventures, pull-through RV lots with various hookups, cozy cabin rentals, and spacious tent campsites.
Wi-Fi access is available at the office and gazebo, a group fire pit with picnic tables and BBQ areas, an on-site store stocked with essentials, a rock-climbing wall, a sauna, and two kids’ playgrounds and showers and restrooms.
If you still want to go skiing, no need to fret as the Revelstoke Mountain Resort is only a 15-minute ride away.
For as low as $44 CAD for a campsite and $97 CAD for a cabin, you can enjoy the amenities that this full-service adventure resort has to offer for a really affordable price.
