This blog may contain affiliate links. Read our disclosure policy for more info

Planning a trip to Koh Phangan and not sure where to stay? We’ve got you covered!

Koh Phangan is neither big nor small, but it does matter where you stay, especially since all the areas offer something completely different. You’d think everyone comes here for the Full Moon parties in Haad Rin, but there’s a lot more going on, so choosing the right area can save you lots of time.

After spending some time in Koh Phangan, we learned the island inside and out and know exactly what each area is good for. Whether you’re here for meditation retreats, want to spend time somewhere more local, or perhaps live the resort life for a bit, we’ll help you find the best base and hotels for your budget.

Don’t miss out!

Our Top Choice

This is the area and hotel we loved the most and suggest booking ASAP!

Our FAVORITE area to stay on Koh Phangan is Baan Tai! We love its central location, long stretch of beach, and having tons of restaurants nearby, plus it’s close to Thong Sala and Haad Rin.

Milky Bay Resort is our top pick for its laid-back beachfront setting! You can watch the sunset with your toes in the sand, enjoy a beachside Thai massage, and choose from cozy bungalows and stylish suites.

Overview of the Best Areas to Stay on Koh Phangan

Welcome to paradise!

Renting a scooter is the easiest way to explore on your own

Koh Phangan is pretty spread out, so there isn’t really one obvious choice when it comes to where to stay. Each area has a different feel, so it really depends on what you’re planning to do.

Most visitors arrive by ferry at Thong Sala and then make their way to the hotel by shared songthaew, taxi, or a prearranged resort transfer. Renting a scooter is also really common and gives you much more freedom to explore, but keep in mind that some roads are steep and winding. If you’re not an experienced rider, stick to taxis and make sure you agree on the fare before setting off.

Walking works well if you’re staying around one beach, but you’ll need some kind of transport to explore other parts of the island.

Koh Phangan gets pretty busy around Full Moon Party dates, Christmas and New Year, as well as during the main high season. Book early, particularly if you’re staying in Haad Rin or looking for one of the island’s more limited luxury resorts around Thong Nai Pan.

  • Baan Tai – Best for first-time visitors – If you need easy access to Thong Sala, Haad Rin, beaches, restaurants, and some of the island’s best nightlife, this is exactly where you’ll want to stay. Our favorite pick here is Milky Bay Resort with an open-air pavilion and traditional Thai massages right on the beach.
  • Haad Rin – Best for nightlife – If you’re here for the Full Moon Party and nightlife, Haad Rin is the obvious place to stay, with the beach, bars, restaurants, and party scene all right on your doorstep. Phangan Bayshore Resort sits in the heart of Haad Rin Nok and offers lovely accommodation with a pool, a lively bar, and coffee from their own plantations.
  • Sri Thanu – Best for wellness & longer stays – If you’re looking for some peace, quiet, and a few zen moments in between, this area is hard to beat. A stay at Zama Resort comes with rustic bungalows, evening happy hour, and a great location near Haad Yao, all at pretty affordable rates.
  • Haad Yao – Best for beaches & snorkeling – This is one of our favorite areas for a relaxing beach stay, with one of the nicest white sand beaches and great snorkeling. We love Haadson Resort & Koh Raham for its quiet Secret Beach location and the lovely Koh Raham bar, where you can grab a drink and snorkel right off the pier.
  • Thong Nai Pan – Best for couples & luxury resorts – We’d stay in this area for the gorgeous beaches, peaceful surroundings, jungles, nature, and, of course, luxury away from the crowds. Our top pick here is Buri Rasa Village Phangan for its cozy traditional Thai feel, plus you’re just a short walk from the local village when you want to explore.

Important Tip

Multiple Koh Phangan trips have taught me that this island doesn’t reward spontaneity when it comes to planning. The good places get snapped up months in advance, leaving the overpriced and underwhelming options for last-minute travelers.

The sweet spot for booking Koh Phangan accommodations is 3-4 months out—enough time to secure good rates but not so far ahead that you’re locking in plans excessively early.

Where to Stay on Koh Phangan

BEST FOR FIRST-TIME VISITORS

Pros

  • Long beach with lots of bars and restaurants
  • Convenient location between Thong Sala and Haad Rin
  • Good choice of budget stays, beach resorts, and hostels
  • Easy base for exploring other parts of the island

Cons

  • Can get busy and noisy, especially around Full Moon Party dates
  • You’ll need transport to reach the quieter beaches in the north
  • Water can be quite shallow at low tide

If this is your first time in Koh Phangan, Baan Tai is the easiest area to base yourself. It stretches along the southern coast, with resorts, beach bars, restaurants, and lots of budget-friendly places to stay.

The area borders the national park to the north and the coast to the south, so you can hike up to Phaeng Noi Waterfall and then head back down to the beach for the parties. For a bit of history, the Yang Na Yai Tree is worth a visit. It’s open 24 hours and admission is free.

One thing we really like about Baan Tai is how easy it is to explore from here. Thong Sala is around 10 minutes away, while Haad Rin takes about 15 to 20 minutes by taxi or scooter, so you can easily get to both.

The downside is that parts of the beach get very shallow at low tide, so it’s not always the best spot for swimming. But for a first visit, the location is hard to beat.

La Belle Vie – $$$

If you’re after a truly quiet vacation, La Belle Vie is an adults-only stay, so your peace is kind of guaranteed. There are only 10 rooms, and each one is individually styled. We especially love the hand-painted murals and all the space you get!

Location is another big plus. It sits on a quiet side street in Ban Tai, just a 2-minute walk from a private beach area and a beachside restaurant. The pool is something else, surrounded by lush greenery, sculptures, and statues, making it feel like a big open-air art gallery.

For food, you’ve got a delicious breakfast every morning, plus a coffee shop and pool bar where you can grab snacks and drinks. You’re also within easy walking distance of several local restaurants for lunch and dinner. Prices typically start at around $120 USD per night, although you should expect to pay more during the busier months.

If you’re looking for something kid-friendly, Summer Luxury Beach Resort & Spa is a fantastic choice right on the sands of Ban Tai Beach. You’ll find an upscale spa, a restaurant, a splash pool, and babysitting service, so that you can enjoy that well-deserved massage.

Milky Bay Resort – $$

Milky Bay Resort is our top choice here, and there’s a lot to love about it. It sits right on the beach, with an open-air pavilion and lounge chairs where you can kick back with your toes in the sand and watch the sunset. Then there’s the traditional Thai massage, which you can have right on the beach. If massages are your thing, this is definitely one to try. Trust me!

The whole place has a really laid-back feel, with casual outdoor spaces, billiard tables, and kid-friendly areas, so it works just as well for families as it does for couples. And the food is pretty good too, with everything from authentic Thai dishes and fresh local seafood to wood-fired pizzas.

Rooms range from rustic beach bungalows to sleek suites, so there’s a bit of everything. Prices typically start at around $110 USD per night.

Alternatively, Lime N Soda Beachfront Resort offers a more social vibe, just a short walk from Thong Sala Pier and close to local shops and Pantip Food Market. We love the daily happy hour here, plus the gorgeous pool area, which is a popular hangout spot and a great place to meet other travelers and unwind after a day out.

Yangyai Garden Hotel is another great stay, just a 10-minute walk from the main street. This 3-star hotel gets lots of praise for its friendly hospitality, peaceful atmosphere, and spacious, clean rooms, all at affordable rates.

The Nidhra Boutique Resort – $

If you’re looking to keep costs down, The Nidhra Boutique Resort is a great little spot. Rooms are spacious and come with air conditioning and ceiling fans, plus a balcony and everything you need for a comfortable stay. There’s also a swimming pool, which is a fantastic spot to relax when you’ve had enough of exploring.

The staff is super friendly, and we like that the hotel feels peaceful without being too far from everything. Thong Sala Pier and the Night Market are both around a 20-minute walk away, while a lovely beach is right nearby. You can also rent a scooter directly below the hotel, which makes getting around much easier.

There’s free coffee in the entrance area, but you only need to walk a few minutes to get to the beachfront restaurants and cafes, or better yet, there’s one just underneath the property. Prices start at around $50 USD per night.

We also recommend Phatcharee Resort, especially for its scenic pool area with lounge chairs and a pool table, plus its highly rated local food. It’s just a 5-minute walk from the beach and close to the festival grounds and clubs, so you can easily head out when you feel like some nightlife.

Another of our favorite budget stays in the area is the trendy La Plage Resort & Beach Club, which doubles as a social beach club while still giving you a peaceful place to stay. Better yet, it sits directly on Ban Tai Beach and is just a 10-minute taxi ride from the main party zones.

Haad Rin

BEST FOR NIGHTLIFE

Pros

  • Home of the famous Full Moon Party
  • Two beaches, including Haad Rin Nok and quieter Haad Rin Nai
  • Lots of bars, restaurants, and nightlife right outside your door

Cons

  • Crowded during Full Moon Party
  • It’s a longer trip to Thong Sala and other parts of the island
  • Accommodation prices can jump during Full Moon dates

If you’re coming to Koh Phangan for the nightlife, Haad Rin is the perfect base. This is where the Full Moon Party happens, and you’ll have bars, restaurants, beach clubs, and hotels all around you, so you can walk to most places without needing a taxi every time you go out.

There are two beaches here, Haad Rin Nok and Haad Rin Nai. Haad Rin Nok is the main party beach, and even when it’s not Full Moon Party night, some beach bars put on fire dancing shows right on the sand, so there’s usually something going on.

Haad Rin Nai is much quieter and a better fit for families or anyone looking for relaxing beach days. And when you’ve had enough of the beach, the Haad Rin Viewpoint Trail is a moderately steep climb to a rocky peak with amazing views over the beaches below.

We love this area because everything is close. You can walk to the beach, grab some food and drinks, head back to the hotel, then go out again for nightlife without worrying about transport. It really doesn’t get more convenient.

The trade-off, however, is that it gets extremely busy and expensive around major party dates, so we’d book early or expect to pay a bit more.

Cocohut Beach Resort – $$$

If powdery white sand beaches are high on our wish list, Cocohut Beach Resort is perfect. We love it mainly for the location! It’s close enough to walk to Haad Rin and the Full Moon Party, but feels worlds away from the noise thanks to its private bay.

This is also a great stay if you love swimming, as the water is crystal clear. You also have a large beachfront pool and an upper cliffside pool overlooking the ocean and coast.

Food is available at the beachfront restaurant, but you’re just a short walk away from other food spots in Haad Rin town. And thanks to the relaxing vibe and spacious grounds, it’s a good choice for families too.

Expect to pay anywhere between $200 USD and $600+ USD, depending on the room type, such as Deluxe, Pool Terrace, or Poolside Villa, and of course, the season.

Alternatively, Princess Paradise has a more romantic, relaxed vibe, making it a great choice for couples and honeymooners. We love the massive saltwater pool and popular pool bar, and Haad Rin is just a short taxi ride away.

We also like The Cabin Beach Resort right on Leela Beach next to a scenic local lighthouse, but still just a short walk or taxi ride from the lively Haad Rin. There’s a lovely pool area, beachfront dining, and a free shuttle service to the local town and pier, with seamless airport transfers available for a fee.

Phangan Bayshore Resort – $$

If you want to be right in the middle of the party scene, Phangan Bayshore Resort is hard to beat. It sits directly on Haad Rin Beach, known for its clear, warm water, and you’ve got local shops, food spots, nightlife, volleyball, and kayaking right outside, so you really don’t need to go far.

There’s also a big swimming pool with a lively poolside bar, a restaurant, and freshly brewed coffee from their own plantation. When it comes to accommodation, you can choose from a few different room types, from garden rooms to beachfront ones, and some even come with private balconies or direct access to the pool.

Prices start at around $150 USD per night, which is pretty good considering you’re staying right in the heart of Haad Rin Nok.

Sunset Beach Hotel is a solid option for an adults-only stay on Haad Rin Nai (Sunset Beach). It keeps you on the quieter side of the peninsula, yet you’re still just a 10-minute walk from the Full Moon Party. It features an ocean-view pool and a restaurant serving classic Thai and international dishes.”

For something similar in price and style, and just as quiet, Explorar Koh Phangan is a great pick. It comes with an infinity pool, Thai cooking classes, wood-fired pizza, curated outdoor activities, and whatnot!

Palita Lodge – $

If you’re trying to save money without sacrificing location, Palita Lodge is definitely worth checking out! The resort is tucked away within quiet tropical gardens, so you’re nicely removed from the Full Moon Party beach while still being right next to it, if that makes sense.

Here you can hang out by the large pool, have a game of beach volleyball, or head out on the water for some diving, snorkeling, or an island boat trip. The beachfront restaurant has you covered for food too, serving highly praised Thai cuisine and Western food, and breakfast is free!

The rooms are a mix of tropical chalets and family villas, so what more could you want? Price-wise, expect to pay anywhere between $80 USD and $180 USD, depending on the season and room you choose.

If Palita Lodge is fully booked, Tommy Resort is a fantastic alternative if you want to jump straight from bed to the Full Moon Party. With a saltwater pool, free breakfast, car rentals, and a tour desk, it’s about as convenient as it gets.

We also like Ventus Phangan, just a 10-minute walk from Haad Rin Queen Pier and around 25 to 30 minutes by taxi from Thong Sala Pier. The pool is lovely, breakfast gets great reviews, and the staff are super kind and helpful.

Sri Thanu

BEST FOR WELLNESS & LONGER STAYS

Pros

  • Lots of yoga, meditation, wellness, and retreat options
  • Great choice for healthy food and vegetarian restaurants
  • Good range of guesthouses, bungalows and villas

Cons

  • Not much nightlife compared with Haad Rin or Baan Tai
  • Some parts can feel very quiet, especially outside the main season
  • Fewer shops and conveniences than Thong Sala

If wellness is a big part of your Koh Phangan trip, Sri Thanu is a great place to base yourself. You’ll find yoga studios, meditation retreats, healthy cafes, plant-based restaurants, and gorgeous sunsets, plus a fantastic choice of bungalows and villas. So you can easily spend your days moving between yoga classes, the beach, a herbal steam and sauna, and one of the many cool cafes.

There are two beaches here too: Sri Thanu Beach is a nice spot to relax during the day, while Zen Beach gets more social around sunset, with travelers gathering on the sand to watch the sun go down. And if you enjoy temples, be sure to stop by Wat Sri Thanu.

Nightlife is pretty limited here, which is kind of the point. If you’re after more excitement at night and want to visit Haad Rin, Thong Sala, or other parts of the island, you’ll probably want a scooter or taxi, as walking isn’t really an option for longer distances.

The only downside is that some beaches around Sri Thanu are quite shallow at low tide, so swimming conditions aren’t always ideal. But if you’re staying for a while and want a slower pace, Sri Thanu is a good fit.

Beyond The Blue Horizon – $$$

If you’re looking to splurge, Beyond The Blue Horizon is exactly what you need. There are only 11 villas here, and we love that they’re all standalone, so you get your own space without feeling like you’re packed into a big resort. Plus, it’s just a 2-minute stroll from Haad Chao Phao.

There’s also a tour desk, so if you haven’t booked any excursions, the staff are more than happy to help. With laundry services, private balconies, delicious food, an outdoor pool, and free breakfast, it’s a great option for longer stays. Just be ready to spend!

Prices usually start at around $150 USD per night, which isn’t bad for everything you get.

We also recommend Zee Luxury Boutique Hotel, especially if you like modern hotels and a laid-back atmosphere. The pool wraps around the property, and with its tucked-away location in Hin Kong and free breakfast, it’s a pretty sweet deal.

Zama Resort – $$

If you don’t want to spend a fortune but still want somewhere really nice, Zama Resort is a great little find. It’s quiet, the staff is super kind, and you get some gorgeous scenery from the property. You sleep in rustic bungalows, which gives the place an authentic tropical vibe, plus they come with spacious covered balconies where you can sit back, relax, and just stare at the ocean.

On top of that, you get a welcome drink, breakfast with high-quality à la carte dishes, and evening happy hour with delicious cocktails while watching the sunset. Location-wise, it’s within walking distance or a short scooter ride from beaches like Haad Yao, local restaurants, bars, and a 7-Eleven.

Prices start at around $100 USD per night, which we think is pretty great value for what you get.

If Zama Resort is all sold out, Amaya Boutique Resort is a nice home-away-from-home backup, with fun community events including BBQs. Tucked away in Sri Thanu, it’s peaceful but still within a short walk of local cafes and restaurants.

Another of our favorites in the area is Sunset Hill Boutique Resort, especially if you like staying somewhere a little higher up on a tropical hill. Along with the amazing panoramic views, you get an infinity pool, super friendly staff, and traditional Thai massages, not bad at all!

Benjamin’s Hut – $

Benjamin’s Hut makes staying in Koh Phangan super affordable. And the best part is that you don’t really have to sacrifice anything. You still get the laid-back vibe, super friendly staff, and a location right on Haad Chao Phao. OK, maybe the beach in front is a bit rocky, but walk about 100 meters (about 330 feet) down, and you’ve got a lovely sandy swimming spot.

We especially love the layout, with wood-and-stone bungalows that give the place an authentic tropical island feel. Better yet, each one has an outdoor kitchenette, so you can save even more by making your own meals. But don’t worry if you don’t want to cook! The beachfront restaurant serves everything from authentic Thai dishes to Western comfort food.

Expect to pay around $75 USD to $130 USD per night, which is pretty hard to beat if you’re on a budget.

Another affordable option is Apple Villas, located just over the border in Haad Chao Phao but only a two-minute scooter ride from the heart of Sri Thanu. It offers a peaceful, budget-friendly garden retreat that keeps you incredibly close to local food courts, yoga schools, and the sunset crowds at Zen Beach.

Haad Yao

BEST FOR BEACHES & SNORKELING

Pros

  • Home to one of the nicest beaches in Koh Phangan
  • Lots of beachfront restaurants and bars
  • Quieter and more relaxed than Haad Rin

Cons

  • Not the best area for nightlife
  • You’ll need a scooter or taxi to explore much of the island
  • Can get busy during high season

If beach days are what you’re after in Koh Phangan, Haad Yao is one of our favorite places to stay. Along with Haad Salad, you’ll find some of the nicest beaches in this part of the island, with clear water, good snorkeling, and, of course, gorgeous sunsets!

You’ll also find lots of beachfront restaurants and bars, plus everything from resorts to bungalows at great prices. We especially like that Haad Yao feels relaxed without being completely quiet. Secret Beach and Haad Chao Phao are both nearby too, and you can easily hop on a scooter and explore more of the west coast.

Don’t expect much nightlife, though, so if you want to party, Haad Rin is a better choice. That said, getting around is still pretty easy. Thong Sala is just around 20 minutes away by scooter or taxi, and Haad Rin is roughly 30 to 40 minutes away, which really isn’t too far.

We like this area for a peaceful beach vacation, but its quieter setting means dining and transportation choices are more limited after dark. Also, the water gets pretty shallow at low tide, so swimming isn’t always great. Still, if you’re after a nice beach, good food, somewhere quiet to stay, and a slower pace, Haad Yao is a good one.

Haadson Resort & Koh Raham – $$

Haadson Resort & Koh Raham in Koh Phangan Thailand 1
Photo credit: Haadson Resort & Koh Raham

Since there aren’t many luxury options around here, Haadson Resort & Koh Raham is a good one to check out. It’s in a lovely spot on a hill overlooking the secluded Secret Beach, so it’s peaceful and quiet, with not much around except the sound of the waves.

The highlight for us is Koh Raham, a rustic, pirate-themed oceanfront restaurant and bar built onto the rocky edge of the peninsula. You can grab breakfast here, come back for lunch, dinner, or just settle in with a sunset cocktail-it feels pretty amazing any time of the day! Better yet, you can rent a snorkel from the deck, and you’ll find loads of colorful tropical fish right below.

Prices start at around $140 USD per night, which is pretty good value for this kind of location.

Another of our favorites in the area is Amara Beach Resort, which is praised for its warm hospitality and laid-back vibe. It sits right on the white sands of Haad Yao Beach, and dinner comes with live music and entertainment, which is always a nice bonus!

For something just as nice and a tad more private, Secret Beach Bungalows is a fantastic choice just steps from the beach. It’s pretty simple and rustic, but you’re guaranteed a good time with delicious food and a DJ playing right on the sand.

Seaflower Bungalows – $

If you’re looking for a cheap place to stay, Seaflower Bungalows is a great option. You’ll also be close to restaurants, shops, massage spots, and great snorkeling spots, with some just a 5-minute walk away, so you won’t need transport all the time.

Inside, the bungalows have everything you need for a comfortable stay, including air conditioning, a fridge, towels, a safe, and a hairdryer. We also like how friendly and helpful the staff is. They’ll even help with your luggage and keep the rooms spotless.

Food is easy here too, with a selection of Thai and Western dishes, plus pancakes and smoothie bowls for breakfast. And when you feel like doing something, you can go kayaking, play volleyball, try stand-up paddleboarding, or just hang out on the beach. Prices start at around $60 USD per night, which is pretty hard to beat!

If Seaflower Bungalows is fully booked, TropiCoco Beach Resort is a great backup right on the beach. You get a lovely pool, a restaurant and bar, plus you can rent motorbikes directly from the front desk to explore the island.

We also really like Baan Kiao if you’re looking for an affordable family-friendly stay, with a big pool, cabanas, a kids’ play area, and a great variety of cheap food, including Mediterranean mezze. The Wednesday night pool parties are super fun!

Thong Nai Pan

BEST FOR COUPLES & LUXURY RESORTS

Pros

  • Great spot for swimming and relaxing beach days
  • Easy access to nearby waterfalls and viewpoints
  • Quieter and more relaxed than Haad Rin

Cons

  • Nightlife is pretty limited
  • Some roads are steep and winding
  • Can get busy and more expensive during high season

Thong Nai Pan is one of our favorite areas for couples and anyone looking for a quieter beach stay with a bit more luxury. You’ve got two beautiful beaches here, Thong Nai Pan Noi and Thong Nai Pan Yai, surrounded by forested hills, with clear water, soft sand, and some pretty amazing spots for swimming and snorkeling. This is also where you’ll find some of Koh Phangan’s nicest resorts, so if you want to splash out a little, this is a good place to do it.

There’s still plenty to do when you’ve had enough of the beach or the pool. You can hike to nearby waterfalls, explore the jungle, rent a kayak, or check out the local villages and restaurants. You’ll find more places to eat and drink in Thong Nai Pan Noi, while Thong Nai Pan Yai is the quieter option.

The trade-off is that it’s further from Thong Sala and Haad Rin, and you won’t find as many shops. However, scooters are easy to rent and very useful for getting around, although some of the roads are steep and winding, so be extra careful. For us, the quiet beaches and lovely resorts are what make Thong Nai Pan worth the extra distance.

Santhiya Koh Phangan Resort & Spa – $$$

If you’re really looking to splash out, Santhiya Koh Phangan Resort & Spa is definitely worth checking out! For starters, it sits between the jungle and beach, so you get the best of both worlds. The waterfall pool is the real highlight here, but most villas come with a pool too, so you can enjoy the beauty around you in complete privacy.

Location-wise, it’s just steps from the popular Thong Nai Pan Noi Beach and a 40-minute speedboat ride from Koh Samui. But getting around the property and the area is easy with their 24-hour wooden car service. The best part, however, is that you get up to $60 USD in credit to spend on food and drinks at the restaurants, treatments at the spa, or resort-hosted activities. Not bad at all!

Prices start at around $160+ USD for a standard room and around $320+ for a sea-view pool villa.

Alternatively, Panviman Resort Koh Phangan is a great choice if you want a luxury resort without feeling like you have to stay there the entire time. It’s right by the small village of Thong Nai Pan Noi, so you’ll have restaurants, bars, shops, and massage spots nearby, plus breakfast is included.

True to its name, Sand in My Shoes Beach Loft is a fantastic alternative if you want to roll out of bed and straight onto the beach. With only 9 rooms, free beach activities, delicious food, and bohemian-chic vibes, it’s a lovely little place to stay if you want something more intimate.

Buri Rasa Village Phangan – $$

Buri Rasa Village Phangan is one of our top mid-range choices here, and we love how different it feels from your typical resort. It’s designed like a traditional Thai village, with a cobblestone street lined with tropical greenery that leads straight to the beach. Right by the sand, you’ll find a cozy restaurant serving everything from fresh seafood barbecues to burgers, so you’re sorted for food too!

If you want to get out and explore, the neighboring local village is just a short walk away, with pharmacies, small bars, massage shops, and other little conveniences. You can also cool off in the pool, enjoy free breakfast, or arrange an airport shuttle if needed. Rooms and suites are bright and air-conditioned, so you’re pretty much sorted for a comfortable stay!

And with prices starting at just $150 USD per night, we think it’s a pretty great deal.

If Buri Rasa Village Phangan is all sold out, Ozone Cave is a unique stay, with massive granite boulders inside your room and throughout the property. It may be tucked away in the cliffs, but just a short walk and you’ll be dipping your toes in the sand at Thong Nai Pan Noi Beach.

If you’re looking to cut costs, Havana Beach Resort Phangan offers a lovely stay with direct access to a quiet beach, tasty food, friendly staff, and plenty of conveniences nearby. It has a fantastic location in a beautiful bay, which makes it great for swimming during the day. At night, the beach is all lit up with lanterns, and you can enjoy delicious BBQs right on the sand.

There’s lots to keep the kids busy too, including rope swings and jungle adventure courses.  Rooms are spacious and clean, and the pool area is a pretty nice hangout spot if you’ve had enough of the beach.

Everything you need is close by, with shops just behind the beach and even a supermarket right on the sand, less than a minute’s walk away. Prices start at just $110 USD per night, which is fantastic for this part of the island.

For something just as nice and affordable, Thong Nai Pan Beach Residence is a great option right on the beach, with lots of restaurants and shops close by. The bungalows are simple but super comfy and come with everything you need, from a fridge and coffee to a beach bag and towels, so you’re pretty much sorted.

Dreamland Resort is another great budget stay with small but charming traditional Thai bungalows and a great breakfast menu to order from each day. It sits right next door to Havana Beach Resort and is just a short walk from the local village shops and restaurants.

Now that you know where to stay in Koh Phangan, it’s time for some adventure! From speedboats and snorkeling to 4WD trips and jungle ATVs, here are a few of our favorite ways to explore the island and beyond.

  • Speed through Ang Thong Marine Park – This speedboat tour around the marine park is such a fun way to spend time away from your resort. You’re in a small boat, so you can get into swimming and snorkeling spots that the bigger boats can’t reach. We loved jumping into the water whenever we had the chance, but you can also go kayaking or just find a spot on the beach to relax.
  • Explore Koh Phangan by 4WD – This full-day trip takes you around the island in a 4WD, stopping at some of the best beaches and a natural swimming pool along the way. We also gave the snorkeling a go and spotted a TON of colorful fish swimming around the rocks. The day ends at a fantastic viewpoint beach bar, where you can grab a drink and watch the sunset.
  • Ride ATVs through the jungle – We had a lot of fun on this ATV jungle tour, especially once we got onto the off-road trails. You’ll ride through the forest, pass plantations and local farms, and then head uphill towards the mountain peak. That was easily our favorite part, and the views at the top were pretty rewarding.

AIRALO e-SIM Up To 15% Off With Code “DTRAVEL15”

What’s an eSIM?

An eSIM is a digital version of a SIM card. Instead of buying a little plastic chip and swapping it into your phone, you just download it. It connects your phone to a local network in whatever country you’re visiting — no stores, no waiting, and no fiddling with tiny cards.

In simple terms, it’s the easiest way to get data and stay connected while traveling.

We’ve tested a bunch of eSIMs over the years, and after a few frustrating experiences, we’ve found our favorite — Airalo. It’s fast, reliable, and incredibly easy to use. You can set it up in minutes (even my mom managed it solo on her first try!), and the prices are some of the best out there.

💡 Bonus: We’ve got an exclusive 15% discount for our readers. Use the codes:
