Nha Trang is one blissful spot, that much I can tell you! And although the city is small, where you stay can make all the difference, especially if you’re not sure whether you want to walk out the door and step straight onto the beach, be part of the big resort scene, or stay somewhere a little quieter and get a taste of local life. 

In this guide, we break down the four best areas to stay in Nha Trang, including the hotels we recommend for every budget. Ready? Let’s get right into it!

Overview of the Best Areas to Stay in Nha Trang

The city may be small, but where you base yourself really matters. Stay in central Nha Trang, and you can walk to the beach, shops, restaurants, and most of the hotels. If you’re a bit farther out, Grab and taxis are easy enough to use. You can also rent a scooter, and honestly, it’s one of the easiest ways to get around.

The nearby islands require a boat or cable-car transfer, so it’s worth checking the details with your resort before you arrive. Bai Dai, meanwhile, is convenient for the airport but quite far from Nha Trang’s restaurants and nightlife.

Here’s a quick overview of the best areas to stay in Nha Trang:

• Tran Phu Beach (Central Nha Trang) – Best for first-time visitors – This is the most convenient base if you want to walk to the beach, restaurants, stores, and tour offices. Our favorite stay here is Adamas Boutique Hotel with complimentary breakfast and a rooftop pool, steps from Nha Trang Beach.  

• Hon Chong (Northern Nha Trang) – Best for a quiet city beach stay – If you’re looking for a quieter stay but still want to be close to the action, Hon Chong is exactly where you want to be. We like Navada Beach Hotel here, especially for its lovely pool area and room service with comfort food at an affordable rate. 

• Nha Trang Bay Islands – Best for an island resort vacation – We love the islands for the peace and quiet, gorgeous pool villas, lovely private beaches, and that beautiful turquoise water. Vinpearl Resort Nha Trang is our top pick here, with one of the largest hotel pools in Southeast Asia, a kids’ club, and easy access to VinWonders Theme Park and Vinpearl Golf. 

• Bai Dai / Cam Ranh – Best for luxury resorts & families – If you’re into resort life and don’t mind spending most of your time at the resort, this area is a great choice. Radisson Blu Resort is a lovely maritime-inspired resort with a kids’ club, free bikes, an outdoor pool, and evening entertainment, so there’s a bit of something for everyone.

Tran Phu Beach (Central Nha Trang)

BEST FOR FIRST-TIME VISITORS

Pros

• Walking distance to attractions and the beach
• Lots of hotels for every budget  
• Easy access to Grab, taxis, and tours 

Cons

• Can get busy and noisy, especially around the main strip  
• The beach can feel crowded during peak periods  
• Traffic can be hectic around Tran Phu Avenue 

If it’s your first time in Nha Trang, Tran Phu Beach is probably the easiest place to base yourself. This is the city’s main accommodation hub, with hundreds of beachfront and inland hotels covering pretty much every price point. 

And the best part is that everything is so close together! You can walk to the beach, Night Market, 2/4 Square, restaurants, shopping, and nightlife, with tons of tour offices to help book your favorite excursions. You can also rent a scooter if walking isn’t your thing. And if you’re planning to explore a little farther, Grab and taxis are easy to find. 

This is where you’ll find the good local food, from a bowl of fresh Phở to a crispy Bánh Mì at Nha Trang Night Market. And if you like ticking attractions off your list, Po Nagar Cham Towers, Tram Huong Tower (The Lotus Tower), and Long Son Pagoda are all nearby.

The downside is that Central Nha Trang can get pretty busy and noisy at night, especially with traffic, so it’s not the ideal place for a quiet trip. But for convenience, we love it, especially when you can finish the day with a drink at a rooftop bar, watching the sunset and the city lights. 

Sheraton Nha Trang Hotel & Spa – $$$ 

If you want to be in the center of it all, Sheraton Nha Trang Hotel & Spa is just the place. We love it because it’s right by the beach on the iconic Tran Phu Street, so you’ve got everything you need right at your doorstep, literally.

The place is huge, with around 280 rooms, all with private balconies facing Nha Trang Bay. Not bad, right? You’re also spoiled with some of the best panoramic views of the city lights from the rooftop bar. 

Then there’s the massive outdoor infinity pool, which is a great place to hang out when you’ve had enough of the sand. Food-wise, you have five restaurants to choose from, plus a cooking school if you want to learn something new.

Prices start at around $150 USD per night, which is a pretty good deal for a place like this. 

If Sheraton Nha Trang is fully booked, Champton Nha Trang Hotel is another great option with a rooftop pool and a variety of food options, so there’s something for every taste. We especially like the location, just a 6-minute walk from Nha Trang Beach and in the heart of the Western Quarter, putting you close to shops, restaurants, and vibrant nightlife. 

We also recommend InterContinental Nha Trang, located right on the popular Tran Phu Street. With a kids’ club, splash zone, and a kids’ menu, we think it’s a fantastic choice for families looking for comfort and convenience. 

Adamas Boutique Hotel – $$ 

If you’re looking to keep costs down, Adamas Boutique Hotel offers great value right in the heart of the lively Western Quarter. Plus, Nha Trang Beach is just a 5-minute walk away, so you’ve got pretty much everything you need nearby for a car-free vacation. This is also where we stayed, and honestly, we couldn’t have picked a better location.

They serve a delicious complimentary breakfast, and the coffee gets plenty of praise. We’re living proof! Rooms are modern and clean, with connecting options that are ideal for family trips. There’s also a rooftop pool for afternoon fun or cocktails at night, while the seamless airport shuttle service makes arriving and leaving a lot easier.

With prices averaging around $120 USD per night, it’s one of the best-value options in the area, especially compared to some of the older beachfront high-rises along the strip. 

Alternatively, Xavia Hotel offers an unbeatable location, just an 18-minute walk from Sailing Center Vietnam, with a private beach area right across the street. You also get free breakfast with your stay, plus a swimming pool and a selection of rooms with gorgeous views of Nha Trang Bay. 

Another of our favorites in the area is Sunrise Nha Trang Beach Hotel & Spa with colonial-style Roman architecture, lush gardens, and a circular outdoor pool surrounded by white Roman columns. It sits on a quieter part of Tran Phu Avenue, but it’s still just a short walk from Dam Market and Nha Trang Cathedral. 

Azura Gold Hotel & Apartment – $

Azura Gold Hotel & Apartment is our top budget-friendly choice here. We love it because it’s a bit removed from the busy street, yet still within a short walk of the beach and all the action, so you can actually get a good night’s sleep. The rooms are spacious, modern, and updated, and you’ll find plenty of practical amenities, including a pool, gym, free parking, and a convenient airport shuttle service.

You don’t have to go far for food either, as there’s a restaurant on-site serving everything from Asian to vegan dishes. Breakfast is just $3 USD, and it’s included with some room options. For lunch and dinner, you don’t have to worry either, as you’re only a few steps away from an incredible mix of dining spots.

With prices starting at just $55 USD per night, you’ll have plenty of money left to spend elsewhere.

Apus Hotel is a solid backup in the heart of Hung Vuong Street, which means you’re surrounded by local massage centers, street food stalls, tour operators, and cafes. A stay here comes with a rooftop pool, gym, restaurant, and free breakfast, so not bad at all! 

We also love Nha Trang Lodge Hotel, especially for its super convenient location, right next door to the iconic Tram Huong Tower and the lively Nha Trang Night Market. It comes with all the amenities you need, including a pool, gym, and free breakfast, plus handy extras like parking and airport shuttles. 

Hon Chong (Northern Nha Trang)  

BEST FOR A QUIET CITY BEACH STAY

Pros

• Quieter beach with fewer crowds  
• More relaxed, local feel  
• Great hotel options for less 

Cons

• Less convenient if you want to walk everywhere 
• Fewer bars and restaurants right outside your door

Hon Chong is our favorite if you want to stay near the city but not exactly in the middle of all the action. The area has a more residential, local feel, with lots of hotels, serviced apartments, seafood restaurants, and a lovely stretch of white sand.

Bai Duong Beach is the main beach here, with calmer, shallower water that’s especially great for families and anyone who prefers an easier swim. Hon Chong Promontory is another fun stop. You can walk out onto the rocks and get great views of the bay and nearby islands.

Oh, and don’t skip Hon Chong Café! This traditional open-air wooden café sits right on the cliff overlooking the Hon Chong rocks. They make some really good Vietnamese coffee here, so grab a cup and enjoy the view!

And when you’re hungry, head to Tháp Bà Seafood District, pick your seafood straight from the tanks, and have it cooked fresh, just the way we like it!

The only thing to keep in mind is that central Nha Trang is about a 10 to 15-minute drive away, depending on where you stay. So, you’ll need Grab or a taxi for the Night Market and nightlife. But if getting away from busy downtown is the goal, we think it’s worth it.

Boton Blue Hotel & Spa – $$$ 

If you really want to splash out, Boton Blue Hotel & Spa is just the place. You’re on the quieter side of Nha Trang, away from the heavy traffic and noise, but still just an easy drive from downtown attractions, including the Po Nagar Cham Towers.

You’re really spoiled with luxury amenities here, starting with the wellness sanctuary. You can swim in the infinity pool, use the steam room, hot tub, or cold tub, then choose from three different restaurants when it’s time to eat. Oh, and there’s a rooftop bar, which is a great place to catch a sunset!

Most rooms have balconies, so if you can afford it, pick one. The views of the clear turquoise bay are such a nice way to wake up! Price-wise, expect to pay anywhere from $150 USD to $260+ USD per night, depending on the room and season.

If Boton Blue Hotel & Spa is sold out, Amiana Resort is a great alternative, with lush tropical landscaping, massive pools, and its own private, white-sand lagoon beach. You can choose from a villa with an outdoor bathroom or a luxury room, all just a short drive from Nha Trang city center, Nha Trang Train Station, and the bustling Dam Market. 

We also recommend Alibu Resort if you’re after something a little more intimate and laid-back, with twin infinity pools and a private snorkeling beach. Duong De Beach is just an 18-minute walk away, while downtown is only about a 15-minute ride, so it’s a nice little escape without feeling too far from everything. 

Navada Beach Hotel – $$ 

Navada Beach Hotel is another amazing resort in the area, and we love it because it’s got it all, minus the high price tag. The rooms come with gorgeous views of Nha Trang Bay, with those crystal-clear blue waters right outside your window. Better yet, it’s just across the street from the beach, so you can simply walk over whenever you feel like it. 

When you’ve had enough sand, you can always head back to the gorgeous outdoor pool area.

Breakfast here is rich and fresh, and later in the day, you can order room service! If you feel like heading out for dinner, you don’t need to go far either, as you’re just a 5-minute taxi ride away from Tháp Bà Seafood Street, one of the best areas for local seafood. 

Prices start at $150 USD per night, which is a pretty sweet deal for a place like this!

We also really like Daphovina Hotel, especially for the spacious studios, 20th-floor rooftop bar, and free breakfast. It’s in a nice, peaceful spot, just a 10-minute walk from the beach, so it’s a great option for families or anyone who likes a quieter night. 

Horizon Hotel is another solid option, just steps from a quieter beach and about a 15-minute ride from the city center. It has a rooftop infinity pool overlooking the ocean, and the pool bar makes it a great place to chill at sunset. 

Hon Chong Retreat Hotel – $ 

If you’re trying to save, Hon Chong Retreat Hotel is a great option. This 4-star hotel has a strong reputation for its friendly staff, who are happy to help with local transport and getting settled in.

The location right on Hon Chong Beach (Bai Duong Beach) is another reason we like it. The water is shallower here, so it’s a nice spot for families with kids or older travelers. There’s also a rooftop outdoor pool with a separate splash area for children, plus views over the mountains and bay.

You’ll also get free breakfast, evening drinks and nibbles, luggage storage, and valet service. And if you’re into karaoke, there’s one on site too! Prices average around $50 USD per night, which is hard to beat for a 4-star stay in northern Nha Trang.

If Hon Chong Retreat Hotel is full, Coast House Boutique Hotel is another great budget option, especially if you prefer somewhere smaller and quieter. We love the rooftop shared kitchen here, where you can cook your own meals while overlooking the bay. 

Nha Trang Bay Islands  

BEST FOR AN ISLAND RESORT VACATION

Pros

• Great resorts with lots of amenities  
• Feels like a proper island getaway  
• Beautiful beaches and clear water 

Cons

• You’ll need a boat or cable car to get around  
• Not much nightlife  
• Resorts can be pricier 

The Nha Trang Bay Islands are a great option if you’re dreaming of a proper island escape. Hon Tre and Hon Tam are the main resort islands, with private beaches, pool villas, spas, water sports, and lots to keep you busy.

If water parks and entertainment are your thing, Hon Tre, or Bamboo Island, is just the place. It’s the biggest island in the bay and home to VinWonders Theme Park & Water Park, an 18-hole golf course, and Vinpearl Harbour. For kids and kids at heart, this place is a lot of fun!

Hon Tam is a little different and a fantastic choice if you like a good mud bath. It’s home to Vietnam’s largest island mud bath complex, so you’ll find mineral mud pools here, plus a long and lovely private stretch of sand where you don’t have to worry about crowds.

The only downside is getting back to the city. You’ll need a boat or cable car, and even though transport is taken care of by your resort, it’s not quite as convenient as staying in town. But if you’re after a proper island escape, that’s probably not going to bother you too much.

Vinpearl Luxury Nha Trang – $$$

If you’re really looking to splurge, Vinpearl Luxury Nha Trang is the perfect place. This is a proper island vacation in every sense of the word. For starters, it’s all-inclusive, so you get three delicious meals a day and plenty of snacks in between, so you’ll never feel hungry.

The best part, though, is having your own luxury villa with a plunge pool and secluded sun terrace, so it really feels like you’re here all alone. But you’re not, and that’s also part of the appeal. We especially love the over-water spa bungalows, where you can get a massage with nothing but the sound of the waves around you. 

Better yet, they offer speedboat transfers to the mainland and even tickets to neighboring VinWonders Theme Park. What more could you want? Prices start at around $200 USD per night, which is pretty reasonable for this kind of island escape.

Alternatively, Nha Trang Marriott Resort & Spa offers pool villas with up to 4 bedrooms and massive infinity and lagoon-style swimming pools, plus it’s super family-friendly. Better yet, you’ve got 24/7 speedboat or scenic cable car transfers, so getting back to the mainland is fast and easy. 

Vinpearl Resort Nha Trang – $$

Vinpearl Resort Nha Trang is our favorite mid-range stay here. It was actually the first resort built on the island, so it’s kind of legendary. The massive 5,000-square-meter (53,820-square-foot) pool is one of the largest and most scenic hotel pools in Southeast Asia. Now, that’s something to tell back home!

The beach is right at your doorstep, with calm, turquoise-blue water that’s great for snorkeling and family fun. We also love the Indochine-style design, which gives the resort a more traditional feel instead of the modern, flashy look you see at so many resorts.

There’s a huge kids’ club, lots of restaurants, and easy access to VinWonders Theme Park and Vinpearl Golf. You also get 24/7 speedboat or cable car transfers to the mainland, so not bad at all! Prices range from around $100 USD to $200+ USD per night, depending on the season and room.

We also love Hon Tam Resort, especially for its private bungalow-style rooms and famous wellness mud bath facility. It’s located on its namesake island, but getting back to the mainland is easy with their complimentary high-speed boat transfers. 

World Tea Resort is another great backup set on Hon Mieu Island, and it feels worlds away even though it’s only a 6-minute boat ride from the southern coast of Nha Trang. It’s super exciting, with amazing sea aquariums and massive pool villas that offer plenty of privacy. 

Bai Dai / Cam Ranh 

BEST FOR LUXURY RESORTS & FAMILIES

Pros

• Big luxury resorts 
• Ideal for families  
• Close to Cam Ranh Airport 

Cons

• Far from central Nha Trang  
• Not many restaurants outside the resorts  
• Very little nightlife nearby 

Bai Dai is where we’d stay if we really wanted to splash out. It’s a long stretch of coast south of Nha Trang, just a short drive from Cam Ranh International Airport, with some amazing beachfront resorts. You’ll find all the usual resort extras here, and then some, from big pools and kids’ clubs to spas, indoor theaters, water parks, private beaches, and top-notch restaurants.

The area has an interesting past too. It used to be a military base, and because it was off-limits for so long, the coastline stayed pretty much untouched. You can see why it’s so popular now.

But there’s also a bit to do outside the resorts. You can spend the day at Bai Dai Beach, hunt for fresh seafood, or take a drive along the coast toward Cam Ranh. The Bình Lập Peninsula is another great day trip option if you want to explore further.

The downside is that central Nha Trang is quite a drive away, so you’ll need a taxi or hotel shuttle to get into town. But if you’re mainly here for the resort life, that’s probably not a big deal.

The Anam Cam Ranh – $$$ 

If you’re after something a little special, The Anam Cam Ranh is one of the most unique hotels in Bai Dai. It’s all old-world Indochine charm, with Imperial-style tile roofs, lantern-lined paths, three swimming pools, a lively beach club, and a lovely stretch of private beachfront, making it ideal for a romantic getaway.

For those looking for some fun without leaving the property, you’re pretty spoiled here. There’s an indoor 3D movie theater with daily screenings, an 18-hole mini-golf putting green, tennis courts, and a Balinese-inspired luxury spa!

They’ve also got a complimentary round-trip airport shuttle to and from Cam Ranh International Airport. Rooms start at around $220 USD per night during peak season, which is definitely pricey for Nha Trang, but for a resort this unique, we think it’s worth it. 

If The Anam Cam Ranh is fully booked, Fusion Resort Cam Ranh is another gorgeous option, especially if massages, wellness, and an easy breakfast are high on your list. The modern suites and villas all come with private plunge pools, perfect for cooling off after a day of exploring. 

We also recommend Alma Resort if you want somewhere bigger and a little more energetic, with its own private Splash Water Park, indoor movie theater, science museum for kids, youth center with virtual reality games, and you name it! It also has 14 different restaurants and is just a 10-minute drive from Cam Ranh International Airport. 

Radisson Blu Resort – $$ 

For something more affordable but still luxurious, Radisson Blu Resort is a great option. This 5-star hotel sits right on Bai Dai Beach and is just a 10-minute drive from Cam Ranh International Airport, so getting there and back is super easy.

We absolutely love the maritime-inspired design here, from the fisherman’s basket-style lobby to the fishing-net touches in the rooms. Even the spa has sea-shell-shaped treatment villas! The private beach villas are pretty special too, with private pools that open right onto the sand.

There’s also a hammam, kids’ playground, tennis court, and free bikes. You’ll find three restaurants serving everything from Vietnamese to international food, and some rooms include breakfast, lunch, and dinner-what a bargain! Prices start at around $120 USD per night, which is a pretty sweet deal for this area. 

Mövenpick Resort is another solid choice for families, with a complimentary chocolate hour, giant water slides, a huge kids’ club, and even a rope park. It’s right on Bai Dai Beach, about 10 minutes from Cam Ranh International Airport and roughly 40 minutes from downtown Nha Trang. 

We also recommend The Westin Resort & Spa, especially if wellness is high on your list, with spa facilities, a fitness center, and yoga classes. The location is another plus, set in a peaceful 5-star resort area, so it sounds like a proper vacation to us! 

Top Activities to do in Nha Trang

Now that you’ve picked out your favorite area and hotel, you can plan the rest of your trip! Nha Trang is a beachy paradise, with plenty of fun things to do. To help you narrow it down, here are a few of our favorite activities we did on our last trip.

• Enjoy a sunset dinner cruise – This sunset cruise was one of the best ways to spend an evening in Nha Trang. We sailed on a traditional-style boat, took in the scenery, and enjoyed an incredible dinner! It made for one memorable night.

• See the city with a private guide – Make the most of your time and see Nha Trang’s top sights with this private guided tour! Since it was customizable, we could choose what to visit, including Dam Market, Long Son Pagoda, and more.

• Go island hopping – Explore Nha Trang Bay and Hon Mieu Island on this island hopping excursion! This is a great way to see more of the area, and you can enjoy the hot mineral mud baths on Hon Mieu for some serious relaxation.

• Check out the countryside – Nha Trang is a major city, so we loved this motorbike countryside tour! This took us to Hon Ba Nature Reserve to swim in a waterfall, and we made scenic stops along the way. All on a fun motorbike excursion!

• Take a cooking class – Swap the swimsuit for an apron and learn how to make regional dishes with this cooking class. Additionally, visit a coconut farm, a noodle factory, and the chef’s home for the class – how fun!
