Bali is known for its beaches, temples, rice fields – oh, and waterfalls! In fact, if you’ve ever searched Bali on Instagram, I’m sure you’ve seen hundreds of picture-perfect waterfalls. But the problem is, the best waterfalls are not always easy to find!
We’ve been to Bali many times and on our most recent trip, we decided to go on this waterfall tour so we could tick off the island’s most impressive spots in just one day.
So if you’re wondering whether or not doing a waterfall in Bali is worth it, we’ve got our in-depth, honest review to help you decide.
Which Bali Waterfall tour did I go on?
We chose this waterfall tour for a few reasons, the first one being that it has 2,500+ 5-star reviews! We were so impressed when we read the glowing reviews and knew that this tour was a great choice.
However, we also really liked that the tour visits three waterfalls, all of which are very different from one another. There’s Tukad Cepung, which is hidden in a cave; the dramatic Tegenungan waterfall; and Tibumana, which is tucked away in a serene jungle clearing.
We upgraded our tour to include a visit to the Gate of Heaven (Lempuyang Temple) which is absolutely stunning and complimented a day chasing waterfalls perfectly. There are also other activities you can pay extra to do like the Ubud Sacred Monkey Forest, snorkeling, or the Tegalalang Rice Terrace.
The idea of having a private driver really appealed to us, too. Even though we’re both confident driving in Bali, spending the whole day driving around on a scooter gets hot, sweaty, and uncomfortable. We just wanted to sit back, relax, and let someone else take care of it all! Plus, some of these waterfalls can be hard to find, so we were keen to go with a local guide who would know exactly where to find them all.
The tour cost us $85 USD each, which covered all of our entrance fees to the waterfalls and Lempuyang Temple. However, depending on the options you choose and how many people you book for, you can take this tour as cheap as $38 USD!
We got lunch included, too, and having a guide with us meant we had someone there to take lots of great photos of the two of us together.

What I loved about this tour
The beautiful waterfalls
Every waterfall we saw on this tour was incredible. Each one was unique and the Tukad Cepung and Tibumana waterfalls were also really quiet, which further added to their beauty.
The guides
Our guides on this tour were absolutely fantastic! Agung was so friendly and welcoming, and he knew a lot about the waterfalls too, so we learned a ton from him. He went the extra mile to take care of our needs and ensure that we got exactly the experience we wanted.
Amazing photos
The guides on this tour are absolute pros when it comes to snapping those perfect waterfall shots. After all, they do it day in, day out! They know how to capture the best angles and make the most of the light to ensure you get fantastic photos, and they take about a million of them for you. We love the photos we got!
Made visiting three waterfalls really easy
Booking this tour meant that all of our transport was taken care of, our route was mapped out, and we were with guides who knew exactly how to get to the waterfalls. We didn’t have to worry about a thing or do any planning, and we didn’t waste any time getting lost!
This tour is absolutely perfect for those who are on a time crunch and want to see multiple waterfalls in one day. But even if that’s not the case, it’s still way easier than going by yourself.
Private tour
The fact that this is a private tour meant that we were able to tailor it to our liking. So if we wanted to stay at one waterfall longer or explore its surroundings, then we could! This flexibility made the tour extra special for us.

What I didn’t like about this tour
Honestly, there wasn’t anything that I personally didn’t enjoy about this tour. However, I did notice a few things that might deter other travelers’ experiences, based on timings and personal preferences.
Not as well-suited for independent travelers
If you’re the kind of traveler who gets a kick out of finding places by yourself, then you might prefer to rent a scooter and head out to these waterfalls by yourself rather than going with a guide. Personally, we were really glad that we had a driver and guide to show us where the waterfalls were, but some people just have a knack for navigation and finding hidden gems!
The waterfalls can be muddy during the rainy season
Again, this wasn’t a huge issue for us, but it is something to be aware of. The waterfalls are usually more impressive during the wet season, but you will likely get pretty muddy when walking to and around them, which isn’t for everyone. My advice would be to wear a decent pair of shoes with good grip!
What did this tour include/not include?
The tour was pretty generous in terms of inclusions. It had everything we needed: private transport and pickup from our hotel, a fantastic guide, lunch, bottled water, and entrance fees.
It offers pick up from hotels in Ubud, Sanur, Kuta, Legian, Seminyak, Canggu, Nusa Dua, Jimbaran, and Uluwatu. And you can choose to include extra activities like Lempuyang Temple, snorkeling, the Ubud Monkey Forest, and Tegalalang Rice Terrace which also has an amazing jungle swing.
The only thing I would recommend bringing that we wished we would have was a couple of towels!
Would I do this Bali Waterfall Tour again?
Yes, definitely! This Bali Waterfalls tour was such a fun day out, with beautiful scenery and amazing guides. Chasing waterfalls is a must-do while you’re in Bali and the ones that we visited on this tour were absolutely stunning, so we’re so glad that we did it.

Where to Stay in Bali
Bali is full of stunning hotels – so many, in fact, that it can be hard to choose. The first step is deciding on which area suits you best and then selecting a hotel afterward.

Canggu
This is Bali’s trendiest area! This is where Dan and I stay whenever we are in Bali for an extended amount of time because of the lifestyle here. There are beautiful cafes on every corner, amazing restaurants and bars, and boutique shopping. It’s also close to the beach and has a great nightlife. This is the area where most expats base themselves in Bali, which creates the buzzing atmosphere that Canggu is known for.
Chesa Canggu is a boutique hotel within walking distance of Canggu’s best restaurants, bars, and beaches. Each room faces the outdoor pool and has a private bathroom, free WiFi, a TV, and a safety deposit box. Chesa has an onsite bar and restaurant and offers free parking for guests. The beds are super comfortable, and the staff always go out of their way to help you. Trust us, you won’t regret staying here!

Uluwatu
This is the perfect place to stay if you want a relaxing beach holiday! Uluwatu is a lot quieter than Canggu with a lot less traffic. The beaches here are amazing and some of the most beautiful on the island. There are also plenty of cafes, restaurants, and beach clubs here. We also love the closer proximity to the airport, making for a convenient stay if you’re only in Bali for a short time.
Anantara Uluwatu is a fantastic option for those looking to treat themselves during their stay in Uluwatu. It’s located right on the beach, so you’re guaranteed some amazing views. There are multiple restaurants and bars, an outdoor infinity pool, a spa, and a fitness center. Plus, each room comes with your own hot tub! The employees are super helpful, and the hotel has onsite activities like dance classes, ceramic-making, and yoga.

Ubud
Not a beach person? Then Ubud is for you! It is located inland, surrounded by lush jungle. The area is still quite trendy with plenty of cafes and restaurants, although the nightlife is a lot more limited. Ubud is where you can easily find nearby waterfalls, go whitewater rafting, ATVing, and all the other fun adventurous activities.
We stayed at Abipraya, which was super quiet and nestled into a tropical garden, about 10 minutes’ walk from the main town. The location was ideal for us and we loved the big swimming pool overlooking the rice fields, as well as the open and airy feel that the rooms had.

Don’t Forget Travel Insurance!
