Riding the Banff Gondola is one of the most popular things to do in Banff National Park – the views are simply incredible! And if you travel like we do, we are always trying to save money when we can, especially in a place that’s as expensive as Banff.

I’ll go over the details of this discount in the blog, and also other perks you get when booking with Viator. Save money on your Banff Gondola tickets now, so you can use that money for other memorable experiences in Banff later!

Our Viator Discount Code

Viator Discount Code
The code is automatically applied at checkout!

I’ve used Viator for travel experiences all over the world and it consistently makes my travel days a breeze! This is especially true when booking very popular experiences, such as the Banff Gondola. I love that I can book my tickets ahead of time, skip lines, and save a few bucks in the process.

We’ve traveled to Banff more times than we can count, so trust us when we say it’s expensive! However, it’s possible to experience the best activities and sights in Banff without spending a small fortune. This is why I’m so excited to share our Viator discount with you!

We currently have an EXCLUSIVE 5% discount available for our readers.

You can book your discounted Viator tickets here and the discount automatically applies when you go to checkout.

One more thing: This code works on ANY Viator tour in Banff (actually any tour in the world!) but you must use the specific links on this page. The links here have the special discount code, other links on our blogs won’t have the same 5% off.

I know 5% doesn’t sound like a lot of money, but any savings is worthwhile if you ask me! Best of all, you don’t have to do a thing to get this discount, not even type in a code. All you have to do is click on one of the links in this blog and it does the work for you! So why not take advantage of saving a few dollars here or there? It frees up your travel budget for other experiences!

Banff Gondola Tickets

This is the view that you can expect from the top!

The Banff Gondola is one of the most popular things to do in Banff. It’s easy to access from the city center and you can spend as long as you want at the top, so you can fit it into your busy travel itinerary. Plus, with over 1,800 reviews, it’s clear that this is a well-loved activity by travelers – check out all the raving reviews here!

I suggest booking your Banff Gondola tickets ahead of time to avoid the lines. Like I said – it’s popular and you don’t want to waste your time in line to purchase a ticket, just do it ahead of time! Plus, when you use my Viator link here, you can save 5% on your tickets, which can really add up and save you money.

The Banff Gondola takes you 698 meters (2,290 feet) up Sulphur Mountain in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. It takes 8 minutes to reach the top, and the views of Banff National Park are out of this world! I have been on this gondola ride more times than I can count and never tire of those mountain-top views.

Don’t forget to have a snowball fight at the Banff Gondola!

This is a great activity if it’s raining or even in the winter, as the gondola is completely enclosed. While you’ll be protected from the harsh weather, the gondolas aren’t heated so dress in layers!

Each gondola can fit four adults, and it also fits strollers and wheelchairs, and infants can sit on laps as you all head up the mountain. The top of Sulphur Mountain is 2,281 meters (7,486 feet) above sea level, and there’s a lot to explore at the top – it’s much more than just a gondola ride!

I’d recommend spending a half day at the Banff Gondola to see it all. There’s a boardwalk that takes you to some of the best viewpoints, keep an eye out for Mount Rundle and Tunnel Mountain! There are also family-friendly activities like the interpretive center, the theater to learn about Banff National Park and Wildlife, a gift shop, and a stargazing experience at night. You’ll also find a cafe and restaurant, so grab a cup of coffee or a cold beer and enjoy the views!

The Banff Gondola is open in the summer from 8 am to 10 pm, fall from 9 am to 9 pm, and winter from 10 am to 9 pm (it may close an hour later on weekend nights and select months). The price varies by the time of year but ranges from $59 to $72 CAD for adults and from $37 to $45 CAD for kids.

Why We Book Tours with Viator

So many great views!

Free cancellation on most tours

You can use this discount code on any Viator tour in Banff (or around the world for that matter). For many of these tours, Viator provides free cancellation options – but not all tours. Unfortunately, the Banff Gondola tickets do not fall under this free cancellation umbrella. But if you book other Viator tours while in Banff, they likely have free cancellation options 24 hours before your tour takes off!

We love this flexibility and have had to use it in the past if plans change or bad weather rolls in. You’ll get a full refund if you cancel a day before your tour departs, which means you can book your tours ahead of time, and rest assured you won’t lose money if plans change.

Reserve now and pay later

Another unique feature Viator often provides is reserve now, pay later options on tours. Just like the free cancellation, this doesn’t work with all tours and the Banff Gondola does not provide this perk. However, I typically use it with expensive tours like full-day sightseeing tours, helicopter tours, or even visiting the Columbia Icefield!

You can see Banff’s top tours here, many of which offer reserve now, pay later options. This lets me experience some bucket list travels, while staying within my budget!

Lowest price guarantee

In addition to saving money with our Viator discount code, the company also offers the lowest price guarantee. If you happen to find the same tour offered at a lower price after you book, Viator will match the price and issue a refund for the difference. I thought this was too good to be true when I first heard of it – but it’s legit!

It’s a pretty simple process too, you have to submit proof of the lower price and your booking number to Viator via email. Then they will review the information and if it all checks out, they will send a refund your way! This process is listed on each tour, so it’s easy to find and even easier to accomplish.

Of course, you can save money using our 5% discount code on your Banff Gondola tickets, as I’ve mentioned earlier!

Pay in your chosen currency

Unless you’re from Canada, you’ll be paying currency conversion fees or international transaction fees on a lot of your experiences. However, booking through Viator allows you to pay for your gondola tickets in your home currency and avoid those extra fees! You’d be surprised how quickly those add up, so this is a really nice perk that Viator provides.

Peace of mind

We’ve gone on more Viator tours than I can count, and while no company is perfect, we’ve had enough positive experiences to highly recommend booking through them. Viator does their best to hold companies to a high standard and is a useful liaison between the tour providers and travelers. Tour providers are required to provide detailed descriptions of the activities and what’s included, so when we show up to a tour we know what to expect.

It’s also very helpful to read other traveler’s reviews to find the best tours out there. Some experiences have hundreds, if not thousands of 5-star reviews. Other times we’ve seen tours with very honest reviews that have helped us steer clear of a tour. So overall, we trust Viator and appreciate the perks of booking, like free cancellation and the low price guarantee that makes going on epic experiences even easier.

Is Booking Banff Gondola Tickets Through Viator Worth It?

Yes!

Yes! Riding the Banff Gondola is one of the top things to do in Banff and should definitely be on your itinerary. The views from the top are simply incredible, and it shows just how grand the Canadian Rockies are.

Sure you can buy your tickets when you get to the gondola, but why would you waste money doing that? Buying your tickets in advance will save you time from waiting in line, so you have more time to enjoy the top of Sulphur Mountain. But the real kicker is saving money! Remember to use our discount link and save 5% on your Banff Gondola tickets.
