2-Day Lagos Itinerary Overview
Two days in Lagos is just the right amount of time to explore sea cliffs, paddle into grottos, taste local flavors, and still find time to relax. Whether you’re here for sun and scenery or off-beat adventures, this itinerary strikes a balance between action and ease.
Getting around Lagos is easy. Most activities include hotel pickup, and much of the town, from the marina to the Old Town, is walkable. A quick taxi ride gets you to beaches or viewpoints just outside the center, so you can focus on enjoying your trip instead of logistics.
- Day 1: Zip through Old Town on a private tuk-tuk tour, savor a long lunch at a Mediterranean spot, and kayak through the iconic sea caves of Ponta da Piedade. Wrap up the day with rooftop tapas and a golden-hour stroll by the water.

Day 1
Morning – Ride through Lagos on a Tuk-Tuk tour
Nothing beats a breezy ride through Lagos to kick off your first day, and this private tuk-tuk tour was easily one of the most delightful ways we’ve explored a city!
Aim for the 10 am slot and grab something to eat from your hotel before you head out. We were picked up right from our lobby, coffees and croissants still in hand, and within minutes, we were winding through the cobbled streets of Lagos’s Old Town in an open-air tuk-tuk with our guide, NoNo, at the wheel.
He was friendly, funny, and a walking encyclopedia of local history, pointing out everything from the old slave market and 16th-century city walls to hidden alleys and lively squares we’d never have found on our own.
And it wasn’t just a city tour, we also zipped out to cliffside beaches like Praia Dona Ana and Praia do Camilo, hopping out at jaw-dropping viewpoints overlooking the turquoise Atlantic. The tour lasted 90 minutes, but it flew by. Plus, since it was just us, we could stop for photos and chat with NoNo as much as we liked.
This tour is perfect for couples, families, and small groups (of up to 6 people). It was a great introduction to the city, and it’s easy to see why we’re not the only ones who loved it. Lunch – Restaurante Eattico
After your tuk-tuk ride, take a five-minute stroll over to Restaurante Eattico, a sleek Mediterranean spot that opens right at noon, which is perfect timing to beat the lunch rush. The menu features fresh seafood, grilled meats, and handmade pasta, all served on a beautiful breezy terrace.
Once you’ve eaten, take a little time to wander the Old Town’s colorful backstreets. It’s a charming area to explore on foot, with tiled facades, small shops, and quiet corners. And before your next activity, swing by Gelícia for a scoop of gelato or a quick espresso—locals and travelers both swear it’s the best!
Afternoon – Paddle through sea caves on a kayaking adventure
After lunch and a quick gelato fix, it’s time to swap cobblestones for sea cliffs. Just a 13-minute walk from Gelícia, you’ll meet your guide at Lagos Marina for this unforgettable kayaking tour through the wild beauty of Ponta da Piedade.
We went for the 2:45 pm option, which gave us plenty of time to digest and soak up the afternoon sun.
The tour starts with a chilled-out catamaran ride along the coast—think scenic views, sun-washed cliffs, and that first salty hint of ocean adventure. Once anchored near Ponta da Piedade, we climbed into our kayaks and followed our guide through the famous sea arches, quiet grottos, and hidden sea caves.
The scenery was unreal! Jagged rock formations towered above us with clear water below. And as we paddled along, our guide shared fascinating bits about the cliffs’ history and geology, which really added to the experience.
After the paddle, we hopped back aboard the catamaran to swim, stretch out on deck, and bask in the sunshine before cruising back to town. The whole thing lasted about 2 hours and 15 minutes, and it struck that perfect balance between active and laid-back.
This was one of the most memorable ways we experienced the Algarve’s coastline. You really shouldn’t miss seeing Ponta da Piedade from the water—it truly feels like gliding through a hidden world!

Dinner – Restaurante Casa do Prego
After a day of sea caves and sunshine, settle in for dinner at Casa do Prego, one of Lagos’s most loved restaurants. Just a short walk from the marina, this spot is known for its lively rooftop terrace, modern Portuguese tapas, and perfect timing for sunset. We recommend booking ahead and aiming to arrive just as the sky starts to glow.
The grilled octopus was a standout, tender and smoky, and the local wine list was full of easy sippers that paired beautifully with everything we tried. The vibe is casual but buzzy, with friendly service and a playlist that sets the tone for a laid-back night. It’s the kind of place you could linger for hours—and we nearly did!
Evening – Enjoy a stroll by the sea
Once you’re happily full, take a slow wander down Avenida dos Descobrimentos, Lagos’s waterfront promenade. It’s especially peaceful in the evening, with sailboats bobbing in the harbor and street musicians adding a soft soundtrack to your walk. The breeze off the bay cools things down just enough, and the city lights reflecting off the water are the perfect way to unwind after a full day of exploring.
Day 2
Breakfast – Everyday People Coffee

Whether you sit outside and people-watch or grab your coffee to go, this is the kind of spot that locals love and travelers quickly fall for.
Morning – Sail past golden cliffs and swim in hidden bays
After your morning coffee, make your way back to Lagos Marina for this half-day coastal cruise you won’t soon forget. This boat tour to Ponta da Piedade is the perfect mix of scenic sailing, swimming, and relaxing, complete with a fresh Portuguese-style lunch served onboard.
The tour departs at 9:45 am and runs for about 3.5 hours, wrapping up around 1:15 pm, just in time for a laid-back afternoon. Keep in mind that it doesn’t run on Sundays, so if your dates fall that way, consider swapping Day 1 and Day 2 of this itinerary.

With a glass of sangria in one hand and a pastel de nata in the other, we toasted the end of our trip while the sun sank behind the Atlantic.
