Planning a quick 2-day trip to the fabulous Las Vegas?
This place has a pretty big reputation, and I must say it lives up to its name! But with more sights that will leave you saying “wow” than you know what to do with, it can be difficult to narrow down exactly how to use your time.
Luckily, we’ve visited this adult-sized playground numerous times. To save you the headache of planning (leave that for the hangover) we have put together the ideal 2-day Las Vegas itinerary. It includes can’t-miss sights and shows, our recommendations on getting around and where to stay, some epic day trips, and more!
Getting Around Las Vegas
Before we dive into all the fun ahead of you in Las Vegas, we need to hash out some details. This city is chaotic, to say the least, so figuring out how to get around will make your time here as smooth as possible. Taxis and Ubers are often the norm, but they can add up quickly. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather spend that money on cocktails and casinos than rides!
So here are a few different options that will be easier and cheaper!
Walking (on the strip only)
Walking the strip is a classic way to explore Vegas – but it’s much bigger than you might think. Besides the distance you’ll cover, it’s also set up to make you weave in and out of numerous casinos, and there are so many things to distract you along the way. So getting from one location to the next is not as straightforward as it sounds!
We learned that you can’t always trust Google Maps, and we got a little lost! Luckily, there are always casino staff around to ask for directions. I recommend giving yourself plenty of extra time when walking to an event, as the estimated time on Google Maps usually isn’t enough. And if you get there early, there’s always a slot machine or bar nearby!
But we truly thought walking was one of the most fun and immersive ways to experience all the fabulous sights. So enjoy wandering around and experiencing the true Viva Las Vegas energy!
Las Vegas Strip Bus
Taking the Las Vegas Strip Bus is a super easy way to get around Vegas, even further than the strip! You can purchase a single ride, 2-hour, 24-hour, and 3-day passes, so the flexibility is ideal. And you don’t have to worry about catching the last bus in time because they run 24 hours a day and arrive every 15-20 minutes.
The routes go from downtown Vegas (near Fremont Street) all the way past the airport, and make tons of stops in between. There are too many stops to list, but I recommend checking out all the stops along the route here so you can see just how good of a deal this bus is.
Purchasing your bus pass is really easy – simply download the rideRTC app and select your pass option there. You won’t lose your bus ticket either, as it’s just a barcode on your phone (just don’t lose your phone!). A 24-hour ticket is only $8 USD – far cheaper than an Uber – so I think this is a great way to get around Vegas, especially when you only have 2 days here!
Hop-on Hop-off Bus
We loved riding this hop-on hop-off bus in Las Vegas because it was more immersive than your average bus ride, but still just as convenient! This double-decker bus stops by 9 iconic Vegas locations, you simply get on and off whenever you’d like and can catch any of the buses that follow.
While on board, there is live narration to learn all the fun and juicy facts about Sin City. Even though there were only 9 designated stops, we passed by dozens of unique sights that our local guide told us about their history or significance. You can buy a 1-day or 3-day pass, and this can substitute for transportation if you plan your stops right.
The buses run from 10 am to 4 pm and stop at each pickup point every hour. The 3-day pass also has an option to include the night tour from 7-10:15 if you want to see even more. Tickets start at $55 USD, and we think this is a great price, as a single Uber ride can end up being that much!
Reserve this hop-on hop-off bus in advance and get FREE cancellation 24 hours before you go.
Day 1
Morning – Walk the strip!
We think the best way to get to know a new city is by exploring on your own two feet. Two days in Vegas isn’t a crazy long time, so we are going to dive right into the action! I was pretty eager to explore, so we got to our hotel and did a quick “ohh-ahh” over the decor, changed into our cute-but-comfy Vegas clothes (it can be hot during the day!), and made our way to the strip.
We’ve allotted the entire morning to explore the strip, as there’s plenty to see. If you’re a bit of a free spirit, Vegas is the perfect place to wander around and get lost in the bright lights, sounds, and sights – you’re sure to find something awe-inspiring. However, if you are a bit overwhelmed (I definitely was at first) then follow our walking itinerary that will hit the absolute can’t-miss Vegas sights.
Our morning walking path goes from Caesars Palace to New York New York, and we have six stops along this route. But again, if you see something that catches your eye – go check it out! Las Vegas is your playground so have fun!
Caesars Palace
Caesars Palace is one of the most iconic hotels in the entire city. No, not just because it had a cameo in The Hangover, but because it has some of the most unique decor on the strip!
Its aesthetic reflects the Roman Empire, with vast marble columns, fountains with statues, and that grand opulent feel you’d expect to find if you truly stayed in Caesar’s palace. Although, I don’t think Caesar had slot machines and cocktail bars in his palace.
If you don’t stay here, you can still wander around and explore, gamble, or grab a drink. We had a lot of fun just wandering around this legendary hotel, taking in the sights, and okay – maybe we reenacted a scene from The Hangover just for fun! Vegas is set up to weave through hotels as you walk the strip, so you might find yourself walking through here a few times during your stay.
See a free water show at Bellagio Fountain
Vegas is known for its incredible shows, but you don’t have to pay a dime to see one of the most famous! The Bellagio Fountain puts on an incredible water show out front of the immaculate hotel. There are actually 32 different shows and the water can shoot over 1,000 feet (305 meters) above. Not only is it an impressive water show, but it also has synchronized lights and music too!
It’s actually pretty easy to catch one of these shows, as they happen every 30 minutes Monday through Friday from 3-7:30 pm. However, seeing it at night is even more impressive, and you can catch that every 15 minutes from 8 pm to midnight. On the weekends, it follows the same schedule but starts at 12 pm instead of 3 pm.
Walk through the Bellagio Garden
Each hotel is pretty different, and we can’t deny the grandeur of the Bellagio! Inside is another beautiful and free can’t-miss experience – the Bellagio Garden! It’s a quick walk from the fountains to the hotel’s main entrance, and you’ll quickly spot the gardens once you’re inside.
There truly is no place on the strip quite as stunning as this massive indoor garden. What’s even more impressive is that they change this exhibit seasonally, so what you’re seeing is totally unique! I’ve been to Vegas a few times, and have always been blown away by the craftsmanship of the gardens. Just look at the photo above – goregous!
You can spend as much time exploring the floral wonderland as you’d like, but at least 20 minutes will give you a good perspective. There are other areas in the Bellagio to explore, like the piano bar right next to the gardens and the expansive casino, or grab a coffee and gawk at the classy architecture.
See the strip from the Eiffel Tower Viewing Deck
As you wander around the strip, it’s easy to feel small with all the towering buildings everywhere you turn. But there’s nothing like seeing the strip from an aerial view to put it all in perspective! The Eiffel Tower Viewing Deck gives some of the best views – and we loved being 46 stories up in such an iconic tower. Okay – it’s not really like the Eiffel Tower in Paris (this one is only half the size) but it’s still super cool!
You can feel the energy from Vegas below with all the people, bright lights, and sounds.
The most popular time to visit the Eiffel Tower Viewing Deck is at night when you can see the strip all lit up, but I wouldn’t recommend going then. It’s madness up there with the amount of people. Instead, we went during the day (which was much calmer) so we were able to enjoy more viewpoints and take uninterrupted photos. We spent about 30-45 minutes up here, and for only $29 USD it was well worth the cost – that’s cheap by Vegas standards!
It’s best to purchase your admission ticket in advance. You’ll already have your tickets in case it gets busy and you can breeze past the queue and get to the viewpoint!
Check availability and book your experience at this iconic viewpoint here!
Museum of Illusions – Las Vegas
Vegas is known for its theatrical shows, so it makes sense that there’s a whole museum dedicated to such. The Museum of Illusions is technically a museum, but instead of staring at paintings on a wall, they are interactive exhibits! This is where the illusion part comes in, some pretty obscure exhibitions make for hilarious photos – it looks like you’re bending all of the laws of physics!
This museum is great for families or adults, and if you’ve been drinking during the day, the illusions are even more impressive. Tickets are $45 USD when you purchase them at the door, or save $5 USD when you purchase tickets online in advance. You can visit from 10 am to 10 pm daily. Plan on spending about 1-2 hours here, depending on how many photos you stop to take!
New York New York Hotel and Casino
We’ve already been to Rome and Paris today, so now let’s visit New York (ok technically they are all just replicas)! New York New York is such a fun hotel/casino that has almost the same charm as the city itself. Although, I’m sure true New Yorkers would strongly disagree!
The exterior looks like a miniature New York Skyline, complete with the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty. Inside, it has the feel of a Brooklyn or Queens neighborhood, with brownstone buildings squished together and all your classic restaurants.
After spending a lot of time in New York ourselves and loving the city, it felt like we were back there! Spend some time exploring the unique architecture and taking in the vibe of this specific place. I love how each hotel is different along the strip, and you can really feel it here!
Lunch – Have a meal at New York New York or Eataly
After spending the entire morning walking, you’re probably ready for lunch! Luckily, you’re surrounded by good restaurants in New York New York, so stick with the theme and grab a slice of New York-style pizza or a classic hotdog with all the fixings.
If you’re in the mood for something a little more relaxed and fancy, Gallagher’s Steakhouse is a great option in New York New York. It’s also right next door to the T-Mobile Arena, where Las Vegas sports teams play – so there’s a good chance of running into professional athletes here!
Another popular option in New York New York is Eataly, which serves some amazingly authentic Italian food! To be honest, though, there are so many amazing food options in this hotel that you won’t make a wrong decision, no matter where you go!
Afternoon – Enjoy a fun activity
This afternoon is set for a choose-your-own-adventure type of activity! There are a copious amount of things to do in Vegas to fill your afternoon, but we wanted to list a few options that can suit many travelers. Some of these are classic Las Vegas activities and some are a little more unique – it’s up to you to choose!
Top Golf
Top Golf Las Vegas is one of those super fun group activities, and the best part is you don’t even have to be a fantastic golfer! It’s actually more than golf, but of course, the multi-level driving range is the main attraction.
This isn’t just your average driving range though, all of the balls have sensors in them and you can play games against your group. Hit the targets to work on aim or see how far you can drive. Sometimes it works out so those with no experience end up kicking seasoned golfer’s butts!
It kind of felt like upscale bowling, we all sat around eating and drinking while taking turns to step up and swing. As competitive as we are, we had a lot of fun here!
In addition to the driving range, there’s a pool, a full restaurant, and a bar where you can beat the heat- don’t forget your swimsuit! But even if it is hot and you’re golfing, the bays are climate-controlled and in the shade, so it’s actually really comfortable. I recommend reserving your bay in advance if you can, as there is often a wait (especially on weekends). Bays are available at 2-hour time slots from $89 to $163 USD depending on what time you go, and they provide golf clubs and balls.
Drive an Exotic Car
Las Vegas is all about big and flashy experiences, so how does renting an exotic car to drive around for a few hours sound? While I may never own a luxury vehicle at any point in my life, it’s pretty fun to pretend I do! This 2-hour exotic car rental at SpeedVegas Motorsports Park is the perfect way to get a taste of being in Fast & Furious. You can choose from over 20 different cars, like the Ferrari 488 GTB and Lamborghini Huracan.
The best part is that you actually get to learn how to drive the cars as they are intended with a one-on-one instructor. It ensures your safety and also helps you reach top speeds, they are known for telling you to speed up! Even if you’re an adrenaline junkie like me, going 100 mph (161 km/hr) is still a little freaky, but the instructors make it all easy.
You can choose between a variety of packages, depending on which type of car you want to drive and if you want 5 or 10 laps. The silver option is the best value for money, for $399 USD you can choose between the Ferrari 488 GTB or Lamborghini Huracan. Keep in mind that this experience is about a 20-minute drive from the Vegas Strip, so be sure to figure out transportation before you go!
Book this experience with over 2,000 5-star reviews here before it sells out.
Gamble
You can’t come to Vegas and not gamble at least once! Nearly everywhere you turn, there’s an opportunity to gamble, whether it’s a casual slot machine or a high-stakes room. I usually stick to the slots (far less pressure) but if you’re feeling lucky, be sure to ask the casino staff where the high-limit rooms are, as they are a bit more hidden away.
New York New York is a good place to start if you’re hitting it right after lunch. Although, MGM Grand and ARIA are nearby and it is fun to change it up a bit. The Bellagio or The Cosmopolitan are perfect if you’re looking for a classier vibe. While in The Cosmo, stop for a cocktail in the Chandelier Lounge – it’s literally a bar in a massive chandelier!
Indoor Skydiving
Looking for a thrilling way to spend your afternoon? I have two words for you – Indoor. Skydiving.
I can’t deny that outdoor skydiving is epic, but indoor skydiving has a lot of other perks and is accessible to add to your afternoon itinerary. You actually end up skydiving longer than you would by jumping out of a plane, there is no instructor with you so it feels more independent, and you can do crazy tricks. If you don’t love heights, there’s no need to face your fears today – simply book this flight with Indoor Skydiving Las Vegas!
Indoor skydiving is actually pretty fascinating. When you first arrive, you’ll go through a safety briefing and gear up with a suit, goggles, and a helmet. Then you enter the tube that blasts air from vents below, and the initial shot is such a thrill! There is an instructor in the tube with you to show you how to fly, do tricks, and make sure you’re safe.
This indoor skydive experience is much easier to fit into your limited 2-days in Vegas because it only takes 45 minutes! It’s also significantly cheaper than real skydiving at $149 USD, leaving more money for other epic Vegas activities. I recommend booking this tour in advance to secure your spot, and you cancel up to 24 hours before your scheduled departure time!

Pool Party
Dive into that movie-worthy party scene Las Vegas is known for this afternoon! There are always some pool parties happening in Vegas, and they go pretty hard. Expect live DJs, copious amounts of booze, and lots of people looking for a good time.
Pool parties will generally have a cover charge ranging from $20-$100 USD, and that’s just to get in. You’ll have to buy drinks on top of that (which are always expensive in Vegas) and any food too. If you’re willing to drop the cash, you can rent private cabanas that come with bottle service and your own server. We simply got general admission and still had a great time!
You can find a party at any of the major hotels on the strip, such as The Cosmopolitan, MGM Grand, and the Venetian. This is also a great way to enjoy these luxurious pools if you aren’t staying at one of these hotels, as they are usually guests only.
From our experience, we thought the pool parties were fun! Be prepared to wait in line, and maybe have a few drinks back at your hotel room before you go to save some money. Also – don’t forget sunscreen because you’ll need it in that Las Vegas heat and it’s wildly expensive at the pool.
Dinner – Go for a romantic dinner
After a jam-packed day of exploring the Vegas Strip, we are going to change the pace a bit. This romantic picnic in the Las Vegas Mountains is the best way to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy those desert views!
We really appreciate that this experience is only 1.5 hours, so you can squeeze it into your limited 2-day Vegas itinerary. They have departure times at 5 pm, 6 pm, and 8 pm and will drive you from the designated meeting point up into the mountains. When you arrive, the guide will light a fire, pop some champagne, and leave you and your partner as they prepare a charcuterie board.
This is a memorable way to experience a different side of Las Vegas, and have a romantic evening out! We think that $150 USD is a great price for this luxurious experience. The desert actually gets pretty cold in the mountains, even in the summer, so dress properly!
Book this romantic experience in advance here, before it sells out!

Night – Catch a show
Going to a show in Vegas was high on my bucket list. Luckily there are HUNDREDS to choose from, some of the most famous being magic shows. To wrap up your first day, head to one of these iconic magic shows!
The Magicians Study
Not all shows in Vegas pack out arenas, in fact, our favorite ones are small and intimate. The Magician’s Study stands out as one of the best magic shows I’ve ever seen. The tricks and sleight of hand were astounding, and the small crowd made it feel way more personal.
The show is held in an actual study, and we had to answer a riddle to enter. Not everyone is worthy of seeing such strong magic!
Our expectations were high, as one would be when you see a magician wearing a rabbit head. We reserved VIP tickets in advance, which got us right up close to the magic. Although, sitting close didn’t help us figure out their tricks at all! Tickets sell out months in advance, so I recommend booking yours early especially if you want those VIP seats.
Check availability and book your tickets to the Magicians Study show here!
David Copperfield at the MGM
You’ve probably heard of David Copperfield, he is one of the greatest modern illusionists and you can see his wonder here in Vegas! His tricks are mesmerizing, and his stage presence, charm, and high energy make for an incredible performance.
Each of his shows differs a little, but you’ll definitely see some of his big-ticket tricks and even some new ones. I think his trick of walking through the Great Wall of China is most impressive, but I’m sure he has a few more “wow” moments up his sleeve. He has quite the following, so die-hards and newbies alike will enjoy his show.
His shows are held at the MGM Grand, and he does it twice a day every day (7:30 pm and 9 pm). So it’s easy to purchase your tickets on the day of the show and ideal if you’re traveling with a big group. Tickets range from $100 to $168 USD, depending on your seat preference, which is actually quite affordable for a legendary Las Vegas show.
Reserve your seats in advance and get FREE cancellation before you go!
Mat Franco at the LINQ
Mat Franco puts on such a fun show at the LINQ, what really sets it apart is that he focuses on audience participation! You never quite know if you’re part of the bit or not, which I think is super fun and engaging.
He first came to fame by winning America’s Got Talent in 2014 and has been on the up and up since. His sleight of hand is astounding, and like most prominent Vegas performers, he’s got a lot of charisma that makes the show a blast. But unlike other magicians, he’s more laid-back and comedic about his tricks, so it doesn’t feel quite as serious and makes for a fun night out.
You can grab tickets for his show here, and because it’s in a large venue you should be able to purchase them the day of. Shows happen almost every day at 7 pm and tickets are the most affordable starting at $58 USD per person.
Reserve this highly-rated show here to secure your spot!

Day 2
Breakfast – Brunch at Alexxa’s
The only way to start your day in Vegas is with brunch (especially if you’re a bit hungover!). Alexxa’s is easily our favorite option, they have a great patio overlooking the strip, and their menu options are to die for! It’s right across the street from the Bellagio, so we love its central location.
I really don’t think you could order a bad dish here, but we had their classic eggs benedict (my go-to) and the brioche french toast. The bottomless mimosas were the hair of the dog that we needed to get ready for our second day of adventuring! Alexxa’s is open daily at 7 am and brunch is available until 2:45 pm.
Morning – Helicopter Ride to The Grand Canyon
Did you know that Las Vegas is neighbors with the Grand Canyon? Well not exactly neighbors, but they are closer than you’d think. Since neither of us had seen it before, we used today to take this helicopter ride to the Grand Canyon for a truly memorable day!
We booked the 11 am start time, but it’s also available at 8 am (depending on how much of a partier you are). It’s a 4.5-hour experience in total, with about 1.5 hours of flight time – which is a long time compared to most helicopter tours we’ve been on.
Flying over the desert, and seeing the Grand Canyon from an aerial view was truly a highlight of our trip! Our pilot was a fantastic narrator and he skillfully landed the helicopter on the rim of the canyon. We appreciated having time to get out and explore, go on the skywalk, and take in the grandeur of this sight! It is truly a 5-star experience in our book.
For $599 USD per person, we thought this tour was worth every penny. It includes transportation from your Vegas hotel, the helicopter flight, and all taxes and fees – making for a seamless experience.
This bucket list experience is likely to sell out – reserve now and pay later when you book here!
*Alternative option – Full-day tour to Grand Canyon
If a helicopter flight is a little outside of your budget, you can still experience the Grand Canyon from Las Vegas! This all-inclusive tour is a fantastic option that doesn’t completely break the budget. Although it is about a 10-hour tour and takes off early, so you’ll need to plan for a long day. But, it’s your last day in Las Vegas and you can rally to experience all the highlights on this itinerary.
This full-day tour starts at 6:30 am and picks up from seven different locations along the strip, but you can fall right back asleep in the van. The hot breakfast and coffee that awaits you on the road is a good incentive to get up and hit the road too! It takes about 4.5 hours to get from Vegas to the Grand Canyon, but the drive feels quick with views of the Hoover Dam and Joshua Tree Forest along the way.
The long drive is worth it because once you get to the Grand Canyon you’ll have hours to explore on your own. You can pay extra to include the Skywalk – which I recommend because the views are even more impressive. After exploring the canyon, you’ll enjoy a lunch that’s included in the tour (BBQ or vegetarian options). Then it’s another 4.5 hours back to Las Vegas and you’ll get home around 6 pm.
This full-day tour is $195 USD which includes the Skywalk tickets. The Grand Canyon is truly too grand to skip – I highly recommend this tour!
This tour has over 9,000 glowing reviews – book it here before it fills up!
Afternoon/Dinner/Night – Fremont Street
As fun as the iconic Las Vegas Strip is, Fremont Street has a whole different vibe, and depending on your party style, you might enjoy this historic district more!
Fremont Street was the original downtown Vegas dating back to 1905. Fremont Street really became the hub for partying during prohibition (1920-1933) with the rise of speakeasies and underground gambling. People would travel from all over the state to drink moonshine and play cards – no wonder Vegas grew into the gambling mecca it is today!
I love the old-school decor and feel of the casinos here. Las Vegas’s oldest casino is actually here, so maybe you’ll score big when you visit the Golden Gate! You can also visit Atomic Liquors, the bar that holds the first official liquor license in Las Vegas, #00001. How cool is that!?
Although the history is what makes this street so significant, there are plenty of modern attractions that draw travelers. I was so impressed by the street performers getting their start on Fremont Street before moving to Las Vegas Boulevard. You’ll find a variety of performers – bucket drummers, dancers, magicians, musicians, and more. If you’re really impressed by their show, give them some love and throw a dollar or two into their tip jar!
You’ll also find a zipline that stretches across the street, live music everywhere, and drinks are considerably cheaper on Fremont! Whether you make it here in the afternoon or evening, there’s plenty to do!
Where to Stay in Las Vegas
There are about a million options on where to stay in Las Vegas, so it really comes down to your budget, location preference, and what you want to do! Keep in mind that prices can fluctuate by season or if there is a big event going on! But to help narrow down your options, here are our top three picks on the Vegas Strip.
Bellagio – $$$
There’s no doubt that the Bellagio is the premier hotel and casino on the Vegas Strip. So if your travel budget allows, I can’t think of a better place to stay for a lavish experience! Centrally located in the heart of the strip, you’ll find multiple restaurants and bars, 5 pools, a spa, a huge casino, and amenities to make you feel like royalty.
Rooms are available varying from an average hotel room up to multi-bedroom strip-view suites, but even the “average” room is fitted with marble features. Regardless of what you choose, it will be luxurious and the service is top notch.
Prices range from $240 USD to $1,600+ USD, depending on the time of year and which room you select. Book your stay at the Bellagio on Booking.com
The LINQ – $$ (where we stayed!)
We stayed at The LINQ Hotel the last time we were in Vegas and loved it! It’s centrally located on the Vegas Strip which means it’s super easy to visit the best casinos and restaurants. We also liked that it has direct access to the LINQ Promenade which is a huge open-air district with shopping, restaurants, and the huge High Roller Ferris Wheel which we hopped on one night!
The rooms are modern with artsy touches and if you can, try to get one that faces the strip or the High Roller Wheel for the best views! Prices can go as low as $50 USD, but average more around the $100 USD mark and can go higher depending on availability. Book The LINQ online here!
Excalibur – $
Just because you’re staying on the Strip doesn’t mean you have to blow your budget. The Excalibur is a great choice to stay within budget and still get that Vegas resort feel. Located on the south end of the Strip, it’s a short walk to the main attractions. You won’t be compromising quality with spacious, comfortable, and clean rooms, 4 onsite pools, 14 restaurants, and a large casino.
Best of all, rooms start at $21 USD! Check availability and book the Excalibur on Booking.com.
Don’t Forget Travel Insurance!
If you’re looking to save money on travel insurance, we currently use and recommend SafetyWing. We’ve been using their coverage since 2018 and they’ve had our backs when we needed emergency flights and got sick overseas.
SafetyWing is one of the cheapest providers out there and covers everything from medical costs to lost luggage, travel delays, and emergency flights. A huge difference we’ve found between them and other companies is that they let you take out a policy AFTER leaving your home country. We’ve also found it handy that it’s a monthly payment rather than a lump sum, and you can get a refund for unused time.
SafetyWing has helped us out in some scary situations before and their affordable coverage has given us peace of mind. You can read our honest review of SafetyWing for all the pros and cons.

Two days in Las Vegas will be a whirlwind – there is so much to do! But, it’s the perfect amount of time to spend if to get a taste of Sin City. We were exhausted (and needed a detox) after our few days here, but we had so much fun and I know you will too.
I hope you found this itinerary helpful as you plan your travels. If you need more travel resources, check out our other USA blogs and also our Canada blogs! We’ve traveled all over North America and have lots of tips to share – here are a few blogs to get you started:
