Phu Quoc might be an island, but don’t make the mistake of thinking that everything is close together. We were surprised by how big it was, and where you stay can really shape your trip! The right area for you really depends on whether you want a luxury beach resort or a more local vibe, and of course, proximity to the island’s biggest attractions also comes into play.

That’s why in this guide, we’ll break down the five best places to stay on Phu Quoc, who we think each one is best for, and our favorite hotels for every budget.

Overview of the Best Areas to Stay on Phu Quoc

The most important thing to know before booking a hotel on Phu Quoc is that the island is much bigger than a lot of travelers expect! It’s pretty spread out, and the main hotel areas are dotted along different parts of the coast, so choosing the right location can save you a lot of time in taxis.

Long Beach is the most convenient all-around base, especially for first-time visitors, as it’s close to the airport and there’s plenty going on nearby. However, there are also some fantastic resort areas further north and south if you’d rather prioritize quiet beaches or big-ticket attractions.

Taxis, private transfers, and hotel shuttles are the easiest ways to get around Phu Quoc. You can also rent a scooter, but we would only recommend doing this if you’re already a confident rider. The traffic here is way more manageable than in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, but the distances can be pretty long, and sandy sections are tricky.

Finally, if you’re visiting during the dry season, and especially around Tet in February, be sure to book your hotel well in advance!

• Duong Dong – Best for local life, dining, & value – Stay in Phu Quoc’s main town if you want lots of local life and markets, as there’s always a lot going on around here! We like Fla Village because it offers a peaceful and affordable base away from the busiest streets.

• Ong Lang Beach – Best for couples & a peaceful beach stay – If your idea of a Phu Quoc vacation involves quiet beaches and gorgeous sunsets, Ong Lang is our top pick. Camia Resort & Spa offers a beautiful stay right by the coast.

• Bai Dai / Ganh Dau – Best for families & entertainment – This northern resort area puts you close to some of Phu Quoc’s biggest family attractions, including VinWonders, Vinpearl Safari, and Grand World. Osen Hotel offers an affordable and comfortable base with free bicycles and airport transfers! 

• Khem Beach / Sunset Town – Best for luxury & southern Phu Quoc – Head south for luxury resorts and beautiful beaches, as well as easy access to the Hon Thom cable car. JM Boutique Hotel offers plush and spacious rooms just steps away from the beach, at prices that won’t break the bank.

Long Beach (Bai Truong)

BEST FOR FIRST-TIME VISITORS

Pros

• Huge choice of hotels, restaurants, and beach bars
• Close to Phu Quoc International Airport
• Great sunset views and an easy all-around base

Cons

• Some parts of the beach feel more developed than secluded
• Resorts toward the southern end can be quite isolated

Long Beach is where we stayed on our first visit to Phu Quoc, and we would recommend it to most first-time visitors! Staying here made exploring the island feel so easy, because we had lots of long, sandy beaches right on our doorstep and plenty of accommodation options to choose from. Plus, the sunsets from this side of the island are pretty amazing! 

It’s also really convenient for the airport, which is a big bonus if you don’t fancy starting your vacation with a long transfer, which we really didn’t! Depending on where you stay, you can be close to Duong Dong too, so it’s easy to head into town for the night market and lots of street food.

There’s also plenty to do without straying far. You can spend the day on the beach, grab a drink at one of the many beachfront bars, or book boat trips and island tours from nearby operators. 

However, we would say that the one thing to watch is exactly where along Long Beach you book. It covers a pretty big stretch of coastline, and some of the resorts further south are much more self-contained. If you want to be able to walk out for dinner and drinks, check the location carefully before booking.

Dusit Princess Moonrise Beach Resort – $$$

If you’re looking to splurge on a gorgeous beachfront property, allow us to introduce you to Dusit Princess Moonrise Beach Resort! The big draw of this place is the huge oceanfront infinity pool, but we think that the modern rooms are really lovely, too. There’s also a Thai spa on site (our favorite kind!) and lots of beachfront restaurants and bars on site. 

We think that this place would be amazing for honeymooners in particular, or couples celebrating an anniversary. Best of all, the location gives you that resort feel without leaving you completely cut off from the rest of Phu Quoc. Rooms typically start from around $250 USD per night, although prices vary by season. 

If Dusit is all booked up, Salinda Resort Phu Quoc is another beautiful option, with tropical gardens and a salt-filtered pool overlooking the beach. It feels especially lush, as most of the property is surrounded by greenery, and the reviews of this place are truly spectacular!

La Veranda Resort Phu Quoc has a completely different feel, with a romantic 1920s French Colonial-inspired design and direct access to the beach, as well as a great location close to lots of outside shops and restaurants. Every room has its own balcony or terrace, and there are multiple dining options on site, as well as a gorgeous pool and wellness facilities.

Anja Beach Resort & Spa – $$

If you want a beachfront stay that feels special without paying luxury-resort prices, we really recommend Anja Beach Resort & Spa! We stayed here ourselves and loved having the beach right outside, while still being just a short drive from the airport and the busier parts of the island.

The whole resort has that tropical vacation feel, with loads of greenery, a big outdoor pool, and spacious rooms that feel bright and airy. We spent plenty of time by the pool, but what we really liked was that we didn’t feel stuck at the resort. It was peaceful when we wanted to switch off, but we could still head out for dinner or a bit of exploring without it becoming a whole mission.

For us, it struck a really nice balance between resort time and exploring Phu Quoc, which is exactly why we think it works so well for first-time visitors. Rooms start from around $140 USD per night.

For something quieter and surrounded by greenery, Valley Village Resort is tucked inland with a pool, spa, and spacious rooms overlooking the lush gardens. It’s around 1.8 kilometers (1.1 miles) from Long Beach, so if you’re happy to swap the beach for the jungle, you’ll love this place! 

Nadine Phu Quoc Resort & Spa is another small, leafy option with a swimming pool and tropical gardens. It’s a 10 to 15-minute walk from the beach and a 15-minute drive from the airport, so we think it’s an ideal choice if you’re short on time here or have an early flight out.

Palm Bay Resort – $

You really don’t need a huge budget to find somewhere lovely on Phu Quoc, and Palm Bay Resort is a great example of that. It’s a modern, tropical resort that feels a bit like a cute little village, and the staff are incredibly friendly. We especially love the gorgeous gardens that house a large outdoor pool, because they’re absolutely ideal for relaxing in the sunshine.

The resort is also super close to Long Beach, and there’s a lovely open-air restaurant on site, where you can enjoy your complimentary breakfast each morning. In short, it’s got it all, and it won’t break the bank either, with rates starting at just $100 USD per night during peak season. 

Sea Star Resort is another affordable option right on Long Beach, with simple rooms and bungalows surrounded by coconut trees. Some rooms have sea views, and there’s a beachfront restaurant and bar, so it’s a good choice if location matters more to you than having a super fancy room.

Or, Thanh Kieu Beach Resort has spacious garden and sea-view bungalows that feel like they should belong to a much pricier property! There’s also a beachfront restaurant and bar that’s perfect for sunset drinks, and this one’s super close to the beach and lots of local restaurants, so it’s a real winner in terms of location.

Duong Dong

BEST FOR LOCAL LIFE, DINING, & VALUE

• Best area for local restaurants, markets, and everyday island life
• Huge choice of affordable hotels and guesthouses
• Convenient base for tours and exploring more of Phu Quoc

Cons

• Doesn’t have the same peaceful resort feel as the beach areas
• The town itself can feel busy and a little chaotic

If you’d rather be in the middle of local life than tucked away in a beach resort, Duong Dong is the place to stay. This is Phu Quoc’s main town, so you’ll have shops and restaurants right on your doorstep, as well as lots of tour operators and plenty of affordable hotels.

One of the biggest reasons to stay here is the food! Duong Dong is home to the island’s famous night market, which is a fun place to wander in the evening and try seafood and local specialties, like bun quay and grilled sea urchin. You’ll also find plenty of smaller restaurants dotted around town, so this is a great area if eating your way around Phu Quoc is high on your list.

It’s also one of the most practical bases for exploring the island. Tours are easy to arrange, taxis are readily available, and you’re roughly in the middle of the west coast rather than being tucked away at one end of Phu Quoc.

The trade-off is atmosphere. Duong Dong feels like a real working town, which we actually think is part of its appeal, but it isn’t where we would stay if our main priority was switching off by the beach. For value and a more local experience though, it’s hard to beat.

Seashells Phu Quoc Hotel & Spa – $$$

If you want the facilities of a beach resort without giving up Duong Dong’s fantastic location, Seashells Phu Quoc Hotel & Spa offers the best of both worlds! It sits directly on the beachfront in the heart of town, with Dinh Cau Temple and the night market just a short walk away. Oh, and it’s famous for its unique design, which makes it look like a giant cruise ship! 

The hotel itself boasts spacious rooms, two swimming pools, a spa, a fitness center, and several places to eat and drink. We especially love that you can spend the afternoon lounging by the pool and watching the sunset, then head straight out into Duong Dong for dinner rather than relying on taxis every evening.

If you’re usually torn between staying at a resort and staying somewhere central, this is a very good compromise! Rooms typically start from around $200 USD per night.

Fla Village – $$

If you’re looking for something quieter and more affordable, we think that Fla Village is a really good option! It’s set back from the busiest part of Duong Dong, so you get a peaceful, leafy place to come back to while still being within easy reach of the town.

There’s a lovely outdoor pool surrounded by tropical gardens, plus a restaurant, terrace, and spacious rooms overlooking the greenery. It’s around 1.9 kilometers (1.2 miles) from Duong Dong Beach, so this isn’t the hotel we’d choose if rolling straight out of bed onto the sand is your number one priority.

However, if you want good value and somewhere that feels a little removed from the hustle and bustle, Fla Village makes a lot of sense! Rooms typically start from around $100 USD per night.

If Fla Village is fully booked for your dates, another good option is the elegant and understated Tahiti Central Seaview, especially if location is your priority. It’s just steps from Long Beach and has an outdoor pool, plus you’ll be right among Duong Dong’s shops and restaurants.

Cát Lợi Phú Quốc Hotel – $

For an affordable stay right in the thick of things, Cát Lợi Phú Quốc Hotel is hard to beat. Dinh Cau Beach is just steps away, while Sung Hung Pagoda and Phu Quoc Night Market are both within a few minutes’ walk, which is pretty fantastic for a budget hotel!

The rooms are neat, modern, and minimalist in a stylish kind of way. There isn’t a big resort pool or fancy spa here, but that’s not really the point.

We’d choose Cát Lợi if you plan to spend most of your days exploring and want somewhere clean, comfortable, and super central to come back to at night. Rooms typically start from around $65 USD per night.

If you’d prefer an apartment, La Cheminee Boutique Apartment has stylish studios and larger apartments with kitchens, and Long Beach is only a few minutes away. It’s a good shout for longer stays or anyone who likes having a little more space.

Or, Respect Homestay is a bit of a wildcard because it’s right by the sea but still close to the center of Duong Dong. It’s much more low-key than the big resorts, with the night market around half a mile away, so we’d pick this if you want something super affordable with a bit more local character.

Ong Lang Beach

BEST FOR COUPLES & A PEACEFUL BEACH STAY

Pros

• Quiet, beautiful beaches 
• Incredible sunset views
• Plenty of boutique resorts and laid-back places to stay

Cons

• You’ll probably want a scooter or taxis to explore beyond the area
• Limited nightlife 

Ong Lang Beach was one of our favorite places on Phu Quoc because it felt so much quieter than the busier resort areas. If you’re coming to the island to relax and take it slow, then we suspect you might just fall in love with this area! 

The beaches here are really pretty, with golden sand and lots of tropical greenery around. The best part for us, though, was the sunsets! We can honestly say that we watched one of the best sunsets ever here – the whole sky turned this crazy purple color. It didn’t feel real! 

There are plenty of boutique resorts and beachfront restaurants dotted around the area, but it doesn’t feel overly developed. So if you’re looking to just relax and switch off, Ong Lang will suit you very well. We also think it’s a great choice for couples looking for peace and privacy. 

The main downside to staying in Ong Lang is getting around. We used a scooter while we were here, which made exploring much easier, but taxis are another option if you don’t ride. There aren’t always tons waiting around, but you can always hail a Grab – just be prepared for a bit of a wait! Duong Dong and the rest of the island aren’t super far away, but Ong Lang definitely suits travelers who want to spend the majority of their trip right by the beach.

Mövenpick Villas & Residences – $$$

If you’re coming to Ong Lang for a true resort vacation, Mövenpick Villas & Residences Phu Quoc is a fantastic choice. It sits right on Ong Lang Beach, surrounded by tropical greenery, so you can really lean into the quieter side of Phu Quoc while still having tons of facilities at your fingertips.

There’s a huge choice of accommodation here, from studios with private balconies to multi-bedroom villas with their own pools, kitchens, and living areas. This makes it especially good for families or groups who want a little more space.

And because this is Mövenpick, guests get a complimentary Chocolate Hour every afternoon. What’s not to love?! Rooms typically start from around $160 USD per night.

If Mövenpick is all booked up,  Grand Ocean Bay Resort is another upscale resort in Ong Lang with a spa and plenty of space to unwind. It’s a good alternative if you’re looking for that big-resort experience in a quieter part of the island.

Alternatively, Chen Sea Resort & Spa Phu Quoc feels more intimate, with minimalist villas, an infinity pool, and a beautiful beachfront setting. We recommend this one for couples who want something luxurious but without that sprawling, commercial feel.

Camia Resort & Spa – $$ 

Camia Resort & Spa offers a beautiful stay right by the water. It sits on a private stretch of beach, and the resort has just over 50 rooms and villas, so it feels much smaller than some of Phu Quoc’s huge resort complexes.

There are swimming pools, a spa, a restaurant, a beach bar, and lovely views across the bay, but the best part is being able to spend your day right by the water. You can even borrow a kayak and head out from the beach if lounging around gets a little too relaxing!

We think this one really suits the vibe of Ong Lang. It’s romantic and peaceful, but you’ve still got enough going on at the resort that you won’t feel stranded. Oh, and the breakfast is incredible, too. Rooms typically start from around $125 USD per night. 

If Camia is unavailable for your dates, Sea Sense Resort is another great beachfront option nearby. It offers gorgeous suites and villas, and you can even request a floating breakfast in the pool, just like in Bali! 

Meanwhile, Kingo Retreat Resort is another, smaller option nearby. It’s set a little farther back from the beach, but it’s nestled in lush greenery, with a handful of gorgeous rooms nestled around a large pool, like a little vacation village.

Phu Quoc Eco Beach Resort – $

If you’re looking to keep costs down but still want to wake up surrounded by sand and palm trees, Phu Quoc Eco Beach Resort is a real gem of a find! It’s tucked into a forest right by Ong Lang Beach and has its own private stretch of sand, so “budget” definitely doesn’t mean sacrificing the island experience here.

The Balinese-style bungalows are surrounded by greenery and come with private terraces, while the sea-facing outdoor pool is an especially lovely spot to spend a lazy afternoon. There’s also a beach bar and restaurant, plus complimentary activities including kayaking and bike rides.

We think you get a lot of bang for your buck here! Speaking of which, rooms typically start from around $115 USD per night.

For another affordable, leafy stay, Phu Quoc Bambusa Resort is a smaller resort set inland from the coast. It’s worth considering if you’d rather prioritize greenery and good value over being directly on the beach.

Finally, Island Lodge is a simple and fairly rustic option in Ong Lang – but we definitely mean rustic in a charming sort of way! It offers clean and comfortable bungalows and chalets, a tropical bar, and an infinity pool just 1.9 kilometers (1.1 miles) from the beach, so it’s ideal if you’re planning to rent a scooter! 

Bai Dai / Ganh Dau 

BEST FOR FAMILIES & ENTERTAINMENT

Pros

• Right by the major theme parks
• Huge beachfront resorts with loads of family-friendly facilities
• Plenty to do 

Cons

• Quite far from Duong Dong and southern Phu Quoc
• Feels more like a purpose-built resort district than local island life

If you’re visiting Phu Quoc with kids, Bai Dai and Ganh Dau are definitely worth considering. This northern part of the island is home to some of Phu Quoc’s biggest attractions, so there’s a ton here to keep the whole family entertained!

The big hitters are VinWonders Phu Quoc, a huge theme park and water park, and Vinpearl Safari, where you can see animals including giraffes, elephants, and rhinos. You’ll also be close to Grand World, a sprawling entertainment complex packed with restaurants, shops, shows, and attractions. Basically, if your kids get bored here, then we’re not sure what to suggest! 

There are some beautiful beaches around Bai Dai too, and many of the huge resorts have pools, kids’ clubs, restaurants, and activities on-site. It’s ideal if you want a family vacation where everything is close at hand.

The catch is the location. You’re right up in northern Phu Quoc, so it can take up to an hour to get to places like Duong Duong and Long Beach. It takes even longer to get to Khem Beach, which is a must-see spot in our book! So we wouldn’t choose this area if exploring the entire island was our priority, but for families planning to spend most of their time enjoying the resorts and nearby attractions, it’s a fantastic choice.

Radisson Blu Resort – $$$

Radisson Blu Resort is a spacious, family-friendly resort with a huge lagoon pool and direct beach access. It’s located close to VinWonders, Vinpearl Safari, and Grand World, so it ticks a lot of boxes for families!

There’s plenty going on at the resort itself too, including a kids’ club, water sports, tennis, volleyball, a spa, and several restaurants and bars. That means you can spend a lazy day at the hotel when everyone needs a break, then head out to the theme parks or safari the next day.

We think this one’s great for families who want a big resort with lots of facilities, rather than somewhere that’s just a base for sleeping. Rooms typically start from around $275 USD per night.

If Radisson Blu Resort is all booked up, Vinpearl Resort & Spa Phu Quoc is another strong family option, with a massive outdoor pool and VinWonders right nearby. It also has multi-bedroom villas with private pools, so it’s ideal for bigger families or groups.

Or, Meliá Vinpearl Phu Quoc is worth a look if you want something that feels refined, with colonial-style villas stretching along the seafront and reservoir. They even offer a free shuttle to the area’s major attractions, which is a big bonus if you’re planning on hitting the theme parks! 

Osen Hotel – $$

If location matters more to you than having loads of resort facilities, Osen Hotel could be just what you’re looking for! It sits right in the Grand World area, so restaurants, shows, and entertainment are all close by, while VinWonders and Vinpearl Safari are just a short taxi ride away.

The rooms are fairly simple, but they’re clean and comfortable with air-con, free WiFi, and family rooms available. Staying here is definitely less about hanging around a fancy hotel pool and more about having a convenient, good-value base for exploring northern Phu Quoc.

So if you know you’ll be out at the attractions most of the day anyway, we think that Osen Hotel makes a lot of sense! Rooms typically start from around $75 USD per night.

Another good option is VinHolidays Fiesta Phu Quoc, which is right in the heart of Grand World and has a huge outdoor pool. It’s a particularly good shout if you want something modern and family-friendly without paying full resort prices.

Tropical Bay Boutique – $

If you’re mainly coming to this part of Phu Quoc for Grand World and the nearby attractions, Tropical Bay Boutique Grand World Phu Quoc is a handy budget choice. You’ll be right in the entertainment district rather than tucked away at a big resort, which is ideal if you plan to spend most of your time out exploring.

We do really like the fun, tropical decor of the rooms, and there’s a cute little coffee house downstairs which is perfect for your morning ca phe sua da! But for us, the big selling point here is really the location.

You’re paying for a convenient base rather than loads of extra facilities, which works perfectly if VinWonders, the safari, and Grand World are the main reasons you’re staying up north. Rooms typically start from around $60 USD per night.

Or, Breaking Dawn – Taeyang Hotel is another affordable option right inside Grand World. The rooms are simple but classy, and we would definitely consider this one if you want to be able to walk straight out into the entertainment district!

Khem Beach / Sunset Town

BEST FOR LUXURY & SOUTHERN PHU QUOC

Pros

• Gorgeous, white-sand beach
• Near Sunset Town, which hosts lots of markets and evening entertainment 
• Convenient for the Hon Thom cable car and southern island attractions

Cons

• A long way from Duong Dong and northern Phu Quoc
• Can feel more polished and purpose-built than local

If you want a luxurious beach stay with plenty of things to do nearby, Khem Beach and Sunset Town are definitely worth considering! 

However, it’s worth noting that Khem Beach is actually on the opposite coast from Sunset Town, even though the two areas are only a 12-minute drive apart. Khem Beach faces east, so it’s not the best place to catch the sunset, but the aptly named Sunset Town faces the opposite direction, so this is where to head in the evening. 

We fell in love with Khem Beach instantly. It’s picture-perfect and peaceful, with those all-important palm tree swings for the perfect holiday snaps. Meanwhile, Sunset Town brings the entertainment, with restaurants, bars, and a colorful waterfront that feels completely different from the rest of Phu Quoc.

One of the biggest draws here is the Hon Thom cable car, which leaves from this area and takes you over the sea towards Hon Thom Island. Even if you’re not staying here, it’s one of the southern attractions I’d definitely make time for!

The main thing to keep in mind is distance. You’re a fair way from Duong Dong, and even further from the northern attractions, so we would choose this area if beaches, resorts, and the Sunset Town nightlife are your priority rather than trying to see absolutely everything on the island.

La Festa Phu Quoc – $$$

If you want to stay right in the heart of Sunset Town, La Festa Phu Quoc is a fantastic luxury choice. The hotel is built into the colorful Mediterranean-style waterfront, so you’ll have the Kiss Bridge, Hon Thom cable car, restaurants, shows, and evening entertainment right outside.

The hotel itself really leans into that Amalfi Coast look, with gorgeous coastal views, an infinity pool overlooking the ocean and Kiss Bridge, a spa, and eight restaurants and bars – yes, eight!

And its location in the heart of Sunset Town means that you can watch the sun go down from the pool, then dry off and head straight out for the evening shows and nightly fireworks without needing a taxi! Rooms typically start from around $300 USD per night.

If you’d rather stay directly on Khem Beach, JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa is one of the most spectacular hotels on the island. It was designed by Bill Bensley around the concept of a French university, and you’ll get a beautiful white-sand beachfront, multiple pools, a spa, and five restaurants and bars.

Alternatively, New World Phu Quoc Resort is another incredible Khem Beach option, especially for families or groups. Every villa has its own private pool, and the resort also has a massive 120-meter infinity pool, as well as a kids’ club, water park, and spa, so you could very happily disappear here for a few days, or even weeks! 

JM Boutique Hotel – $$

If you want to stay near Khem Beach without paying full luxury-resort prices, JM Boutique Hotel is our favorite mid-range pick. It gives you a much smaller and more intimate base than the giant resorts nearby, while still putting you close to one of southern Phu Quoc’s prettiest beaches. Plus, we love that it’s housed in a charming colonial-style yellow building – it reminds us a bit of Hoi An! 

We would choose this one if you want the quieter Khem Beach side of the area but also want to be able to head over to Sunset Town for dinner and entertainment.

You’re only around a 12-minute drive away, so it’s easy to spend the day by the beach and then swap coasts for sunset and an evening out – sounds pretty good to us! Rooms typically start from around $180 USD per night.

If you’d rather be right in Sunset Town, we think that Luna Sol Apartment is a great alternative with apartment-style accommodation and sea-view options overlooking the sunset and fireworks – perfect! There’s also an infinity pool, gym, and kids’ club, so you get more facilities than we’d t typically expect from an apartment stay.

Or, Tiamo Hotel is worth a look if you want a smaller hotel base within Sunset Town itself. We would consider this one if being close to the cable car and evening attractions matters more to you than having resort-style facilities.

CASEPiA – $

For a stylish stay in Sunset Town that won’t blow the budget, CASEPiA is a great choice. It sits on Sorrento Street at the quieter end of the district, so you’ll still be close to the main attractions without necessarily being right in the busiest part of town.

The hotel has around 50 rooms and suites, plus its own restaurant, and the overall look is actually a lot more polished than you might expect at this price point.

We would recommend this one if you like cozy boutique hotels and want to spend your evenings exploring Sunset Town. Rooms typically start from around $150 USD per night.

Another fun budget option is Lotus Home Cafe, which is right in the heart of Sunset Town and has rooms with balconies plus a rooftop bar overlooking the sunset and fireworks. This one has loads of personality, so we would choose it over a generic budget hotel if you want your stay to feel more connected to the area.

Top Activities on Phu Quoc

Phu Quoc is definitely a place where you could spend most of your vacation hopping between beaches and pools, but there’s plenty worth exploring beyond your hotel too! Here are a few activities we would prioritize while you’re on the island.

• Go snorkeling through coral reefs – We took this snorkeling boat trip in Phu Quoc, and we had so much fun! We headed out by boat to explore some of the smaller islands and snorkeling spots around Phu Quoc, with time to swim and look for colorful coral and tropical fish. It was a nice break from sightseeing, and a fantastic day out on the water.

• Explore Northern Phu Quoc in a Jeep – Northern Phu Quoc is much quieter and greener than the big resort areas, and this private Jeep tour is a really fun way to explore it. Rather than spending the day being driven around in a regular minivan, you’ll travel in an old-style Jeep while checking out the northern side of the island – how cool is that? We especially like this option if you’re staying further south and want to see some of Phu Quoc’s more rural scenery without having to organize all of the transport yourself.

• Go trekking through the tropical jungle – For something completely different from Phu Quoc’s beaches, you can head inland on this jungle trekking tour. The hike takes you through the tropical landscape around Tien Son Dinh, so this is one for travelers who actually want to get moving rather than spend every day by the pool. We particularly appreciated getting to see how lush Phu Quoc is away from the developed coastline!

• Ride the cable car and explore Southern Phu Quoc – If you’re staying in the north or around Long Beach, we would definitely dedicate a day to exploring southern Phu Quoc. This southern island tour makes it easy because it combines sightseeing with a ride on the famous Hon Thom cable car, which just so happens to be one of Phu Quoc’s standout attractions. It stretches right across the sea towards Hon Thom Island and gives you some incredible views along the way! Pairing it with a wider tour of the south also makes sense because the area is a decent drive from Duong Dong and the northern resorts, so you can tick off several sights in one day rather than making multiple trips.
