For a stylish stay with some of the best views in the city, check into SOUMA Hotel. With a rooftop infinity pool, ocean-view rooms, and a prime location near the Malecón, it’s hard to beat.
Where to Stay in Lima Map
Overview of the Best Areas to Stay in Lima

As the capital of Peru, Lima is a huge, sprawling city made up of dozens of different neighborhoods, each with its own personality and vibe. While that might sound overwhelming at first, the good news is that most travelers only really need to focus on three areas: Miraflores, Barranco, and San Isidro.
In our opinion, Miraflores is the easiest all-round choice, especially if it’s your first time visiting Peru. It’s safe, walkable, packed with restaurants and hotels, and sits right along the coast with beautiful ocean views. We also love Barranco (Lima’s artsy and bohemian district located just south of Miraflores) and San Isidro (a greener and more upscale district located north of Miraflores).
For the most part, you’ll explore Lima by walking around your chosen neighborhood and using taxis or rideshares to get between districts. However, it’s worth keeping in mind that Lima traffic can be notoriously heavy, especially between the airport and the main tourist areas. We’d definitely avoid overpacking your itinerary with too many cross-city trips in one day and give yourself extra time for transfers. Trust us, journeys often take longer than they look on the map!
Before we get into the details, here’s a quick overview of our top hotel picks in each area:
- Miraflores – Best for first-time visitors– This is the heart of Lima’s tourist scene and the most convenient base for sightseeing and dining. Jose Antonio Deluxe Hotel is our favorite place to stay here; it feels surprisingly luxurious for the price, and the rooftop pool and central location make it hard to beat!
- Barranco – Best for food & nightlife– This is Lima’s bohemian neighborhood, located just south of Miraflores and packed with trendy restaurants, cocktail bars, cafes, and colorful streets. Our top pick here is Hotel Park Suites; it offers spacious, uniquely themed suites in a fantastic location close to all the action.
- San Isidro – Best for a quiet upscale stay– If Miraflores feels a little too busy for you, San Isidro offers a calmer side of Lima, with beautiful parks and a more residential atmosphere. Our favorite place to stay here is Wyndham Costa del Sol Lima City, which feels like such a peaceful escape from the city.
Important Tip
Multiple Lima trips have taught us that this city doesn’t reward spontaneity when it comes to planning. The good places get snapped up months in advance, leaving the overpriced and underwhelming options for last-minute travelers.
The sweet spot for booking Lima accommodations is 3-4 months out—enough time to secure good rates but not so far ahead that you’re locking in plans excessively early.
Where to Stay in Lima
Miraflores

BEST FOR FIRST-TIME VISITORS
Pros
- Safe, polished feel with excellent tourist infrastructure
- Stunning clifftop ocean views along the Malecón
- Easy access to taxis, rideshares, and top restaurants
Cons
- Can feel very tourist-heavy and less “authentically” local
- Accommodation and dining are generally more expensive
- Traffic getting in and out of the district can be slow
Miraflores is Lima’s most popular base for first-time visitors because it’s safe, it’s scenic, and it’s relatively easy to navigate.
The district itself sits high above the Pacific, with the Malecón coastal walkway stretching along the cliffs. Key highlights in the area include Parque Kennedy, the lively heart of the neighborhood, Parque del Amor for some of the best ocean views, and Larcomar, a cliffside shopping and dining center overlooking the Pacific. If you’re a history-lover, you’ll also appreciate Huaca Pucllana, which is an ancient adobe pyramid unexpectedly tucked into the middle of the district.
What makes Miraflores especially appealing is its convenience. You can spend the morning exploring ruins, grab lunch overlooking the ocean, then walk the Malecón at sunset, all without needing to think too hard about logistics. Taxis and rideshares are easy to find, and many hotels, restaurants, and attractions are all within walking distance.
The only tradeoff is that Miraflores can feel polished to the point of being touristy, with higher prices than many other parts of Lima. Traffic can also be frustrating during busy hours, which is to be expected in any capital city.
Still, if this is your first time in Lima, stay in Miraflores. It takes much of the stress out of navigating a massive city, and you’ll have world-class views and attractions right on your doorstep.
SOUMA Hotel – $$$

The SOUMA Hotel isn’t just a great luxury hotel, but our favorite stay in Lima! This is an absolutely stunning IHG hotel that blends contemporary design with a commitment to sustainability (in fact, it’s Lima’s first hotel with no single-use plastics, which we love!).
You’re also just steps from the Malecón, and the rooms offer breathtaking Pacific Ocean views. The real highlight is the rooftop infinity pool and bar, plus a serene spa inspired by the Peruvian Amazon.
Expect prices to start around $150 USD per night and climb to $250 USD+ per night, depending on the season, which is honestly such good value considering how gorgeous this property is.
If the SOUMA Hotel is fully booked, the Crowne Plaza Lima is an excellent backup. It’s just a couple of blocks away and has a more urban feel, plus a highly-rated buffet breakfast.
We also really love the Pullman Lima Miraflores. It’s super trendy and has a fabulous rooftop pool and bar!
Jose Antonio Delux Hotel – $$

Jose Antonio Deluxe Hotel is honestly such a vibe with its floor-to-ceiling windows and trendy decor throughout. It feels like a luxury option at a more affordable price tag.
To start, it has a rooftop pool, a vibrant bar perfect after a day of sightseeing, and an on-site restaurant that serves up delicious international-inspired dishes with seafront views. You’re also perfectly placed to walk to the Malecón de Miraflores (12-minute walk away) and Larcomar (15-minute walk away), which makes it an excellent base for exploring Miraflores without needing to rely heavily on taxis.
Rates for this particular hotel typically start from around $100 USD to $130 USD+ per night, which is excellent value for such a central Miraflores location.
If you can’t get in at Jose Antonio Delux, we also recommend checking out the Radisson Hotel Decapolis Miraflores, which is just a 10-minute walk away. This hotel has two on-site bars, a heated rooftop pool, and is close to all sorts of main attractions like the Malecón de Miraflores.
Another similar option nearby is INNSiDE by Meliá Lima Miraflores. Similar to the Jose Antonio Deluxe, this is also a more modern, trendy hotel with a rooftop pool and bar, fitness center, and complimentary buffet breakfast.
Radisson RED Miraflores – $

The Radisson RED Miraflores is our top budget pick for Miraflores, but don’t let the budget-friendly price fool you! This is a seriously nice mid-rise hotel, known for its cool, funky design and contemporary architecture.
Location-wise, you’re right in the heart of Miraflores, so you’ll have easy walking access to the oceanfront Malecón and some of the city’s most stylish boutiques and restaurants. There’s also plenty to do at the hotel itself, including a rooftop restaurant and bar, a fitness center, and a games room with a pool table.
Rates typically start from around $78 USD to $120 USD+ per night, depending on the season, which is such a steal for this part of Lima.
Another top choice, Jose Antonio Executive Hotel is an excellent alternative, a couple of blocks away. Here, you’ll find spacious rooms with modern amenities, along with a paid shuttle service that can help you get to and from the airport.
The Hotel Boulevard is another reliable option, located a bit farther northwest of the Radisson RED. This hotel has more of a coastal vibe, and if you book a suite, you’ll have a spa bath right in your room.

Barranco

BEST FOR FOOD & NIGHTLIFE
Pros
- Incredible dining scene with creative, world-class restaurants
- Vibrant nightlife, live music, and trendy cocktail bars
- Artsy, bohemian atmosphere with colorful murals and historic architecture
Cons
- Can be noisy in the evenings near popular bars and squares
- Fewer large, resort-style hotels compared to Miraflores
- Some streets are less polished than the neighboring districts
Barranco is Lima’s artsier, more bohemian district, known for its colorful murals, boutique hotels, creative restaurants, and a more romantic, local feel compared to Miraflores.
The neighborhood itself is compact and easy to explore on foot. Highlights include the Puente de los Suspiros (Bridge of Sighs), the scenic Bajada de los Baños pathway toward the coast, Barranco’s lively main square, and cultural spots like MATE Museum and MAC Lima. Much of the appeal, though, comes from simply wandering around and seeing where you end up!
It’s also worth noting that Barranco is especially known for its food scene. Some of Lima’s most exciting restaurants are concentrated here, making it easy to spend days cafe-hopping and eating exceptionally well. By night, the neighborhood really comes alive with cocktail bars and live music, and it’s arguably one of Lima’s best areas for an evening out.
The only tradeoff is that Barranco can be noisier than other parts of Lima, especially near nightlife hubs, and accommodations lean more boutique than large hotels. Some streets also feel a little rougher around the edges compared to Miraflores, which is important to keep in mind as you plan.
Still, if food, nightlife, and atmosphere matter most to you, Barranco is (in our opinion) one of the very best areas to base yourself in Lima.
Casa Republica Barranco Boutique Hotel – $$$

One of our favorite hotels in the entire Barranco area is Casa Republica Barranco Boutique Hotel. It’s housed in a beautifully restored 1920s mansion, which makes it such a unique and special place to stay.
The hotel itself features a tranquil garden, a restaurant, and a rooftop terrace with excellent ocean views. You’re also ideally situated to explore Barranco’s art galleries and acclaimed restaurants, while having a quiet retreat to return to.
Pricewise, you can expect rates to typically start around $190 USD and climb to $300 USD+ per night.
If Casa Republica is full (and it does tend to fill up!), you absolutely have to look at Hotel B as a backup. This hotel is also set within a meticulously restored mansion and offers elegant rooms, complimentary breakfast, and plenty to do within walking distance.
Hotel Park Suites – $$

For something a bit more budget-friendly, the Hotel Park Suites is a fabulous choice. It’s located about a 30-minute walk from the Metropolitano station, so if you don’t mind walking, you can easily reach districts like Miraflores and the historic center without having to rely entirely on taxis.
The rooms here are stylish and spacious, and many have a unique theme (like the India, Hawaii, Japan, and Egypt suites). Another great thing about this hotel is that they offer a complimentary American-style breakfast, which is always a hit!
Rates typically start from around $60 USD per night; not bad at all considering the location.
Casa Fanning Hotel – $

For our even budget-friendlier pick, we love the Casa Fanning Hotel. This is a charming 3-star apartment hotel featuring spacious apartments (many with kitchenettes), making it ideal for families and longer stays.
The property itself is super fun, with lots of bright decor, plants, and an outdoor swimming pool. There’s also a free continental breakfast, and location-wise, you’re within walking distance to the local markets, museums, and the Larcomar shopping mall.
Prices for this hotel usually begin at around $50 USD per night and can go up to $75 USD+ for higher-end suites or peak dates.
If you need another affordable option, the Viajero Lima Hostel Barranco offers a vibrant, adults-only experience in a renovated 112-year-old house. It’s important to note that this is a hostel (not a hotel), so the experience will be a bit more social, and not all rooms have a private bathroom.

San Isidro

BEST FOR A QUIET, UPSCALE STAY
Pros
- Very safe, quiet, and residential atmosphere
- Beautiful green spaces like El Olivar Park
- High-end dining and luxury hotel options
Cons
- Further inland, so you miss out on the immediate coastal views
- Less nightlife and tourist-focused energy than Barranco or Miraflores
- Requires a taxi ride to reach the main coastal attractions
San Isidro is Lima’s quieter, more upscale district that feels noticeably calmer than Miraflores or Barranco. As the city’s financial center, it’s safe, well-maintained, and home to some of Lima’s most elegant hotels and restaurants. In our opinion, if you prefer a more relaxed atmosphere at the end of the day, San Isidro is definitely worth considering.
One of the neighborhood’s highlights is El Olivar, a peaceful park filled with centuries-old olive trees and shaded walking paths. The district is also home to Huaca Huallamarca, an impressive pre-Columbian pyramid in the middle of a modern neighborhood.
San Isidro is especially suited to travelers who value comfort and quiet. For example, if you’re visiting Lima for business, staying longer, or simply prefer returning to a calmer environment after a busy day of sightseeing, this area makes a lot of sense. You’ll find fewer tourist crowds and more of a local, residential vibe, which can feel like a breath of fresh air if you prefer a more low-key lifestyle.
The only major tradeoff is location. Unlike Miraflores or Barranco, you can’t simply walk outside and find yourself overlooking the ocean or surrounded by nightlife, and most major attractions and coastal viewpoints require a short taxi or rideshare.
However, if you’re looking for a peaceful stay with green spaces and more upscale amenities, San Isidro is truly a gem that’s easy to fall in love with.
Hyatt Centric San Isidro Lima – $$$

The Hyatt Centric San Isidro Lima is, hands down, our top luxury pick for San Isidro. The lobby and communal areas are simply stunning, and the rooftop pool and bar offer a wonderfully relaxing place to unwind after a day of exploring.
There’s also an upscale Peruvian restaurant on-site, which means you don’t have to venture far for an excellent dinner if you feel like staying close to the hotel. But, if you are in the mood to venture out, you’re perfectly placed to explore the many local boutiques and historical sites like Huaca Huallamarca.
Rates usually start around $150 USD to $400 USD+ per night, which feels very reasonable considering the area and quality of the facilities.
If the Hyatt Centric is full, the nearby Swissotel Lima is an excellent alternative. This luxury hotel blends European style with South American architecture and features a fantastic spa and pool.
The Westin Lima Hotel & Convention Center is another spectacular option in San Isidro. It’s housed in one of Peru’s tallest buildings, and it even boasts the largest urban spa in South America.
Wyndham Costa del Sol Lima City – $$

For our mid-range pick, we always recommend the Wyndham Costa del Sol Lima City. It’s located in Magdalena del Mar on the border of San Isidro, and it offers easy access to local shops, cafes, and the financial district.
The rooftop pool and sky bar here are genuinely stunning for a mid-range hotel, and there’s even an on-site casino, which is always fun if that’s something you enjoy!
Rates for this hotel typically start from around $68 USD to $130 USD+ per night, depending on the season and room type.
If the Wyndham is fully booked, the Sonesta Hotel El Olivar is a fantastic alternative, nestled right next to the lush Olivar Park. This hotel really is a tranquil urban retreat with its outdoor pool, onsite bar and restaurant, and 24/hour room service.
Another fantastic option is the Holiday Inn Express Lima San Isidro. This hotel is located just 2 km (1.2 miles) from the Huaca Huallamarca archaeological site (about a 20-minute walk away) and offers an excellent complimentary breakfast each morning.
Dazzler by Wyndham Lima Miraflores – $

For our next pick, we absolutely love the Dazzler by Wyndham Lima Miraflores. Even though it’s a more budget-friendly hotel, the rooms are still super modern and contemporary.
One of my favorite things about this hotel is its rooftop pool and hot tub overlooking the city, which feels a lot more premium than you might expect at this price point. The location is another big win, giving you easy access to the Malecón boardwalk and those stunning Pacific coast views that make Miraflores such a great place to stay.
In terms of pricing, you can expect rates to begin around $80 USD per night and climb up to $175 USD+ for higher-end suites or peak dates.
If the Dazzler is all booked up, the Novotel Lima San Isidro is a solid alternative. Here, you’ll have access to a heated pool, spa, and a lovely on-site restaurant serving authentic Peruvian cuisine.
Another budget-friendly option is the Hampton By Hilton Lima San Isidro. The rooms are modern and comfortable, and the free on-site parking is a helpful bonus if you plan to rent a car or if you’re road-tripping through Peru.

What’s an eSIM?
An eSIM is a digital version of a SIM card. Instead of buying a little plastic chip and swapping it into your phone, you just download it. It connects your phone to a local network in whatever country you’re visiting — no stores, no waiting, and no fiddling with tiny cards.
In simple terms, it’s the easiest way to get data and stay connected while traveling.
We’ve tested a bunch of eSIMs over the years, and after a few frustrating experiences, we’ve found our favorite — Airalo. It’s fast, reliable, and incredibly easy to use. You can set it up in minutes (even my mom managed it solo on her first try!), and the prices are some of the best out there.
