If you’re looking for a fun and scenic off-roading adventure near Whistler, this 3-hour buggy tour through the rugged Callaghan Valley is an absolute blast! Buggies are side-by-side ATVs, which makes them perfect for couples, friends, and families who want to sit next to each other during the adventure and share in the experience!
What made our experience truly memorable was our guide, Brock—he was knowledgeable, hilarious, and made sure everyone felt safe and confident before we hit the trails. He shared interesting facts about the area, pointed out wildlife along the way (we spotted deer!), and even played photographer for us, snapping some awesome action shots mid-adventure.
The trail itself was a mix of bumpy terrain, stunning mountain views, and wide-open wilderness—you really feel like you’re off the grid. It’s a great mix of adrenaline and nature, and we had a blast from start to finish.
The tour departs from downtown Whistler and runs every weekday from May through mid-October. Each buggy can hold either 2 adults OR 1 adult with 1 child (must be at least 4 feet tall to participate). This adrenaline-filled ATV tour is the perfect choice for adventure lovers, thrill seekers, and outdoor explorers who are comfortable on an ATV.
The adventure starts by meeting your guide in Whistler, where you will then shuttle out to the Callaghan Valley for a safety briefing and a quick lesson on operating the ATV. You’ll get some stylish goggles, gloves, and a helmet, and then you’re off!
We had the best time exploring the rugged wilderness of the Callaghan Valley for 3 hours. Our guide took us on a 4-kilometer (2.5-mile) off-road track that goes through streams and forests, and up to mountain tops for some epic views overlooking the valley, where we got to stop and take some pictures.
Be sure to dress according to the season you’re visiting, as British Columbia can be cold even in the summer. Keep in mind that you’ll likely get dirty on this tour, but that’s really the fun of ATVing anyway! This tour only allows single riders, so it is limited to those 19 years or older with a valid driver’s license who are comfortable driving an ATV.

This fun and adventurous 2-hour ATV tour will take you up Brandywine Mountain to take in views of Whistler Blackcomb and Mount Fee. The terrain is easier than the previously mentioned tour, making this a great option for beginners and families!
When I did this tour, it was my first time driving an ATV, and I was a little nervous, but the guides were fantastic. They explained everything clearly, let me practice before taking off, and checked in throughout the ride to make sure I was comfortable, which I really appreciated.
Not only were the views breathtaking, but we also learned a lot about the area and the history of the Gold Rush. And don’t forget to bring your camera as there are lots of wildlife viewing opportunities in the area!
We love that this tour offers the choice between a single or double rider. This makes it a great choice if you are going alone or with a child, partner, or friend. It also operates multiple times a day every day from May to October, making it an easy activity to fit into a busy travel schedule.

While you’re in Whistler, there are tons of great activities to check out. Below, I have listed some of my absolute favorite things to do in Whistler to add to your itinerary!
- Go ziplining – For epic views of rivers, glaciers, lakes, and mountains, why not soar above them? Whistler has some incredible ziplining tours, but our favorite is the Sasquatch® Zipline! It’s the longest zipline in Canada and the craziest one we’ve been on (in a good way!). You’ll zip 7,000 feet (2,133 meters) down the face of Blackcomb Mountain – talk about an unforgettable experience!
- Via Ferrata – Whistler is one of many places in Canada to try Via Ferrata, an introduction to rock climbing. Challenge yourself to climb the entire 2,160-meter (7,086 feet) summit of Whistler Mountain with safety cables and metal rungs. The scenery is indescribable, and you can check availability here.
- Explore Whistler – If it’s your first time visiting Whistler, there is no better way to explore than on this private 3-hour sightseeing tour. Our expert guide took us to all the top spots, plus some hidden gems we never would have found on our own!
- Fly in a seaplane – If you’ve never been on a seaplane before, this is your chance! Where to Stay in Whistler
If you’re traveling to Whistler, there are lots of different places to stay. I always recommend staying right in Whistler Village so you’re close to all the best restaurants and shops. After plenty of visits, I’ve narrowed down the best hotels for every budget to help you find the ideal base for your trip.
Just a heads up, Whistler books up fast, especially in peak seasons. I highly recommend reserving your hotel early to lock in the best rates and availability. With that said, here are my top picks!
Luxury – $$$
For a luxury hotel in the heart of Whistler, the Whistler Village Suites is my top choice. For Whistler, it’s still a great value hotel and has a stunning indoor/outdoor swimming pool, plus a bar, several hot tubs, and a well-equipped fitness center. As for the rooms, they’re so comfortable that you might not want to leave the property. Some of the suites even have balconies with mountain views!
Prices range from $300 to $800+ CAD, depending on season and room size. You can check availability and reserve your stay on Booking.com.
Mid-range – $$
Our go-to hotel in Whistler is the Adara Hotel. For us, it is the perfect mix of luxury and affordability with everything you need for a comfortable stay. They offer underground parking and are only a one-minute walk from the Whistler Stroll, so you can park your car and leave it while you explore Whistler Village.
They also have a beautiful outdoor pool and hot tub offering mountain views – perfect for relaxing in the evening. The loft rooms are our favorite, and most also offer mountain views from the upstairs patio.

Budget – $
Pangea Pod Hotel is a stylish, budget-friendly stay in the heart of Whistler Village, perfect for travellers who want to be close to the action without the high price tag. This unique pod-style hotel offers sleek, modern sleeping spaces with privacy screens and secure storage, along with inviting shared areas like a rooftop bar, café, and guest lounge. It’s ideal for solo travellers or couples who plan to spend their days exploring and their nights crashing somewhere simple and comfortable.

Renting a Car in British Columbia
If you’re arriving in British Columbia via plane, then I can’t recommend getting a rental car enough. British Columbia is a large province, and traveling between the best places to visit in BC requires transport. Although you can use public transport on some occasions, this means your trip will not only require more time but more planning.
Car rental in Canada isn’t relatively cheap, but it’s not that expensive either, especially if you get a budget car. The cheapest car with a pick-up and drop-off in different locations is around $100 CAD per day. The price does vary though, depending on the time of year. For car rentals, I use the website Discover Cars. It’s a search engine with lots of deals with good customer service. Another popular option is to rent a campervan or motorhome (only for the brave in winter).
