Altitude Tours Queenstown Company Review
We’ve gone on two different two with Altitude Tours Queenstown and really loved both of them! The tours were really well organized and we could tell that Altitude Tours really values themselves as a might professional company.
From the luxurious Mercedes Vans as the method of transport to the little surprise gifts they give at the end, Altitude Tours really do think of everything! When you are on a tour with Altitude, all you have to do it sit back and relax.
They really don’t cut any corners when it comes to luxury and ensuring the guests have an awesome time.
We also really like the fact that all of the tours offered are small group tours. This means you can ask your guide questions and have a more personal experience than tours with busloads of people! Altitude Tours Queenstown really does offer some of the best tours in Queenstown!
Tours offered by Altitude Tours Queenstown
Altitude Tours Queenstown offers a few different tours in and around Queenstown. Below you’ll find all of the tours they offer as well as important information to know for booking!
The Sampler Wine Tour

The first-ever tour we did with Altitude Tours Queenstown was their Wine Sampler Tour. This tour is perfect for anybody who wants to spend a day tasting wine at all of the best wineries near Queenstown!
The Wine Sampler Tour takes you to four different wineries in the Gibbston Valley. On this tour expect to learn about various wines, the history of the Gibbston Valley, and tour a vineyard or two learning about the winemaking process – and don’t forget, you’ll get to try a lot of different wines!
This tour starts at 10 am and ends at 3 pm.
Not only will you try lots of different wines, but you will also get to see some beautiful parts of the Gibbston Valley at the same time. Our tour guide taught us about the history of Queenstown, the gold rush, as well as some general info about the scenery we were seeing! It was really a full-day tour.
You can book the Wine Sampler Tour online in advance to secure your spot!
Twilight Tour
Altitude Tours also does a Twilight Tour, which is perfect if you love beer as well as wine because at each stop there is the option to switch out wine tasting for a craft beer tasting!
The Twilight Tour starts later in the day (3:30 pm) so that if you’re limited on time you can do something else in the morning that same day. The tour goes for about 4 hours and is a great way to spend an evening in Queenstown.
On the Twilight Tour, you will get to tour around the Gibbston Valley (similar to the Wine Sampler tour), but this time you go to three wineries/craft beer makers and also get an antipasto platter at the second stop!
Dan and I went on the Twilight Tour the other day and really enjoyed it. Since it was in the evening the ambiance was relaxed and we had a great time!

Going from Queenstown to Milford Sound is one of the most popular trips people make. If you don’t have your own wheel, this small group Milford Sound tour is a great option.
You will experience the amazing road to Milford in a luxurious van as well as all of the best stops along the way before jumping on a boat cruise in Milford.
The great thing about the tours Altitude Tours offers is that you can choose how you want to go back to Queenstown after your cruise. They have a driving option, a fixed-wing scenic flight, as well as a helicopter flight! There’s really a Milford tour for everybody and all budgets!
Unlike most other tours from Queenstown to Milford Sound, Altitude Tours groups sizes are maxed out at 19 people (not 50+.) This makes for a much more relaxing and personal experience. Plus, they also include a BBQ lunch served onboard your cruise!

Renting a Car or Campervan in New Zealand

The first step to planning your New Zealand road trip is choosing your set of wheels! Most people rent a campervan or motorhome to get around, but you can also just rent a normal car and stay in hotels (as opposed to camping.)
You can search for rental cars online with Discover Cars in advance to compare car models and prices. We’ve used this website all over the world and if you want more details, read our honest review of Discover Cars for more details!
You can also do this with motorhomes and campervans on a website called Motorhome Republic. It shows all of the available campervans and motorhomes for your specific New Zealand road trip dates. You can compare prices and company reviews here too!
JUCY is our personal favorite campervan rental company in NZ. We love JUCY because they have such a range of both cars and campervans available, so you’re pretty much guaranteed to find something to suit your budget and travel style.
We’ve actually secured an exclusive discount code for our readers with JUCY. Just click here to browse their availability and use the code DTRAVEL25 at checkout to get 5% off! What a good deal!
You can check prices, availability and book with JUCY online here.
Star RV is another company we personally recommend but specifically for motorhomes! They offer larger motorhomes (as opposed to budget campervans) at really reasonable rates.
Star RV has actually given us a discount code for our readers too! Use the code DTRAVEL25 at checkout to get 5% off your motorhome rental! Click here to browse availability, prices, and book with our discount code!
Note: For both Star RV and JUCY, no discounts or promotions will be applied for pickups from December 16, 2024 to January 19, 2025 for New Zealand and Australia. But for the entire rest of the year, the discount is yours!
