Planning a trip to Naples, Florida, and not sure where to stay? We’ve got you covered!
Naples is one of Florida’s most laid-back beach towns. You’ll spend your days at the beach, out on the water, or wandering between great restaurants and designer boutiques.
While it isn’t a huge city, it’s a little more spread out than you might expect. Staying just 15 minutes apart can mean the difference between walking to dinner every night or getting in the car every time you want to leave the hotel. That’s why choosing the right area matters more than most people realize.
To make things easier, we’ve narrowed it down to the 3 best areas to stay, along with our favorite hotels for every budget. Let’s get right into it!
Don’t miss out!
Our Top Choice

This is the hotel and area we loved the most and suggest booking ASAP!
Our personal FAVORITE area to stay is Downtown Naples! With Fifth Avenue South, the waterfront, and some of the city’s best restaurants nearby, it’s the place to be if you want everything within easy reach.
For a comfortable stay, Hyatt House Naples 5th Avenue is our top pick. Fifth Avenue South is just an 8-minute walk away, and we loved relaxing by the pool and unwinding by the mangrove boardwalk in the evenings.

Overview of the Best Areas to Stay in Naples

Naples is an upscale Gulf Coast destination known for its white-sand beaches, excellent restaurants, boutique shopping, and relaxed atmosphere. The best place to stay depends on the kind of trip you’re planning. Downtown Naples and Old Naples are best for first-time visitors who prefer walkable streets lined with restaurants and shops, with many of the main attractions close by. Midtown is a little quieter while still being central, and North Naples is the best choice if you’re looking for beach resorts and luxury hotels.
Getting around is something to think about when choosing where to stay. Naples is only really walkable within a few neighborhoods, especially around Fifth Avenue South, Third Street South, Vanderbilt Beach, and Mercato. If you want to visit different beaches, parks, and attractions, renting a car will save you a lot of time; just be aware that parking near the popular beaches fills up quickly during winter. Taxis, rideshares, and local buses are available too, but they’re not as convenient.
If you’re planning to visit between January and March, book your accommodation a few months in advance. That’s the busiest time of year in Naples, and beachfront resorts and downtown hotels often sell out well before the season begins.
- Downtown Naples – Best for first-time visitors – If you want to stay close to the main attractions and famous Fifth Avenue South, this is the area for you. Our favorite stay here is Hyatt House Naples 5th Avenue, thanks to its excellent location next to Tin City Waterfront and lovely pool area surrounded by palm trees.Â
- Midtown Naples – Best for families & shopping – If you want to save a little but still be close to the beaches, shops, and restaurants, Midtown Naples is well worth a look. Our top pick is Hilton Naples, with a waterfall pool and free cruiser bikes to help you get around.
- North Naples – Best for quiet & beaches – This area is all about quiet beaches and easy evenings. DoubleTree Suites stands out for its relaxing pool, mangrove views, concierge services, and warm chocolate chip cookies at check-in.Â
Important Tip
Multiple Naples trips have taught us that this city doesn’t reward spontaneity when it comes to planning. The good places get snapped up months in advance, leaving the overpriced and underwhelming options for last-minute travelers.
The sweet spot for booking Naples accommodations is 3-4 months out—enough time to secure good rates but not so far ahead that you’re locking in plans excessively early.
Where to Stay in Naples
Downtown Naples/Naples Bay

BEST FOR FIRST-TIME VISITORS
Pros
- Easy to walk to shops and restaurants
- Excellent selection of hotels (for every budget), dining, and nightlife
- Ideal if you want to explore without driving a lot
Cons
- Parking and traffic can be busy in peak season
- Staying here usually costs a little more
If you want to stay close to the action and don’t mind spending a little extra, Downtown Naples is where you’ll want to stay. It’s hard to imagine now, but this entire area was once a remote fishing village accessible only by boat. Today, it’s the most walkable part of the city, with Fifth Avenue South, the waterfront, beautiful beaches, and some of Naples’ best restaurants all close together.
One thing you’ll probably notice is the lack of towering beachfront skyscrapers. That’s one of the things that makes Naples feel so different from places like Miami. The city has chosen to keep its low-rise Mediterranean-style look, and we think they got it right. We absolutely loved exploring the area!
Mornings usually start in Old Naples with a coffee and a freshly baked pastry before wandering down to the beach near Naples Pier. While the pier structure itself is currently closed for a major rebuild, the surrounding sand is as beautiful as ever—perfect for watching pelicans diving into the water or spotting dolphins just offshore. Strolling Fifth Avenue South is another of our favorite things to do here, whether it’s for shopping or just people-watching. If you have time, take a cruise around Naples Bay to see the multi-million-dollar mansions in Port Royal.
The only trade-off is that hotels here are more expensive, especially during the winter peak season, but we think it’s well worth staying in the heart of it all.
Naples Bay Resort and Marina – $$$

If you’re seriously looking to splurge, Naples Bay Resort & Marina is just the place. This luxury Mediterranean-style resort has everything you need, from pools with waterfalls and a lazy river to tennis courts and even its own private marina with direct, bridge-free access to the Gulf of Mexico. The location is another big plus, with Naples Botanical Garden, Sugden Community Theatre, and shops and restaurants only a short drive away.Â
Your mornings here definitely start nice and slow, with a coffee or fresh smoothie from the café before taking a stroll around the marina. For dinner, you can choose from several on-site restaurants, including one serving modern Asian dishes. Really, there is no need to leave the resort!
Prices usually range from $380 to $700+ USD per night, depending on the season and room type. It’s definitely a splurge, but worth every cent!
If Naples Bay Resort and Marina is fully booked, Hilton Vacation Club Charter Club is another great option right on Naples Bay. With spacious condo-style suites, outdoor grills, a tiki bar, and free bicycle rentals, it’s well suited to families or anyone looking for a little more space than a standard hotel room.Â
Bellasera Resort is another one of our favorite condo-style stays, just a few blocks from the 5th Avenue South shopping district and the beach. There’s an on-site restaurant and a cozy jazz lounge, making it a great option for couples or those seeking a quieter stay while still within walking distance of all the action.Â
Hyatt House Naples 5th Avenue – $$

If you’re looking for a resort-style stay without the luxury price tag, Hyatt House Naples 5th Avenue is a great mid-range option. There is so much to love about this place that it quickly became one of our favorites in Naples. For starters, there’s a boardwalk overlooking the mangroves with a few fire pits, and it’s a lovely spot to relax in the evening.
Breakfast is included and changes every day, so there’s always something different to try. We also loved the pool area! There are lots of lounge chairs, so it never feels too crowded, and it’s an easy place to spend a lazy afternoon. Rooms are all cozy and spacious, but if you can, book one with a balcony overlooking the bay.
Location-wise, it’s only about an 8-minute walk to 5th Avenue South, and a 6-minute drive from Naples Zoo. Prices usually range from $140 to $700+ USD per night, depending on the room and time of year.
AC Hotel by Marriott is another solid option, with a rooftop pool, outdoor fireplace, live music, and Mediterranean food that almost makes you feel like you’re somewhere in Europe. The location is another big plus, right in the heart of downtown, just steps from Tin City and Port-O-Call Marina.Â
For something a little more casual, Cove Inn feels like a home away from home, with individually decorated rooms and beautiful marina views. It’s close to the beach and Old Naples for shopping and dining, without the high prices that usually come with a beachfront stay.Â
Naples Park Central Hotel – $

For those trying to save a bit of money, Naples Park Central Hotel is a fantastic pick. We love it for its smaller size and intimate feel, making it ideal if you’re after a more relaxing stay. The highlight has to be the heated outdoor pool and sun deck, where you’ll also find a pickleball court and a lovely shaded garden.
Even better, there’s free parking and complimentary breakfast, so there’s no need to search for food as soon as you wake up. There’s also a convenient coin-operated laundry, which makes longer stays a lot easier.
While it’s only about a 10-minute walk to 5th Avenue South, it’s located on a busy downtown intersection, so it can get a little noisy. If you’re a light sleeper, it’s best to book a room facing away from the street. With prices starting at just $125 USD per night, it doesn’t get much better than this for a budget stay.
Bayfront Inn 5th Avenue is a 3-star hotel right next to Tin City Waterfront Shops, overlooking Naples Bay. One of the best parts is the private marina courtyard, where you can grab a drink from the patio bar and admire the luxury yachts.
If you’re looking for a resort-style stay without the high price tag, Holiday Inn Express & Suites is well worth a look. With a relaxing outdoor pool, private cabanas, a complimentary breakfast buffet, and a choice of spacious rooms and suites, it’s a great option for families or anyone looking to save a bit.Â
Midtown Naples

BEST FOR FAMILIES & SHOPPING
Pros
- Better value than Downtown Naples or the beachfront
- Shops, supermarkets, and restaurants are all close by
- Easy drive to the beach, Downtown Naples, and most attractions
Cons
- Not a walkable area
- Doesn’t have the same charm as Downtown Naples
- Fewer beachfront and luxury hotels
Midtown Naples offers a quieter, central base that includes the Moorings, Park Shore, Clam Pass, and the shops and restaurants around Waterside Shops and Venetian Village. There are tons of resorts and condo-style properties here, but everything is a bit more spread out, so having a car is definitely recommended.
Mornings here can easily start at Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens. One of the highlights is the catamaran cruise, which takes you past little islands where monkeys and lemurs roam freely. In the afternoon, head to Lowdermilk Park Beach, with its white sand, volleyball courts, playgrounds, and lots of space to relax.
If shopping is more your thing, Waterside Shops and The Village Shops on Venetian Bay are both worth a visit, with a bit of everything from designer stores and local boutiques to waterfront restaurants and cafes. And if you’re looking to get out on the water, sunset cruises and kayak tours through the mangrove tunnels are well worth it. Keep an eye out for manatees and blue herons along the way!
You won’t find many luxury hotels here, but that also means prices are generally lower, making Midtown a great base for families and anyone wanting to save a bit while still staying central.
Hilton Naples – $$

Since there aren’t any luxury hotels in this part of Naples, Hilton Naples is about as close as it gets. We absolutely love the relaxing pool area here, but the free parking and award-winning steakhouse are just as nice a bonus. And when you’re ready to hit the beach, just hop on the complimentary shuttle to Clam Pass Beach. You’ll be there in less than 10 minutes!
The hotel also provides free bike rentals if you’d rather explore the area on two wheels. One of the things you’ll probably like most (especially if you’re after a quieter stay) is that, even though it’s a fairly large hotel, it hardly ever feels crowded, which we’re sure you’ll appreciate. It’s also just one block from Waterside Shops, making it a great base for shopping and dining.
Prices usually start at around $130 USD per night, although they can easily triple during peak season.
For something similar in style and size, Best Western Naples Inn & Suites is definitely worth a look. Just a 5-minute drive from Naples Beach and historic Old Naples, this 3-star stay comes with botanical gardens, koi ponds, waterfalls, two outdoor pools, and even a mini-golf course, perfect for active travelers.
Compass by Margaritaville offers all-suite accommodations, making it ideal for families, groups, or anyone looking for a little more space. Between the pool deck, fire pits, lawn games, and live music, it’s hard not to get into vacation mode.Â
Naples Garden Inn – $

Naples Garden Inn is a low-key, wallet-friendly stay in a great location. It may only be a 2-star hotel, but it has everything you need (and more!), from a nice pool area and complimentary breakfast to free parking and friendly staff. There’s even a covered tiki hut by the pool, which is a great place to cool off with a cocktail when the sun gets a little too much.Â
Rooms are clean and spacious, overlooking either the tropical courtyard and pool or the gardens. Either way, you’ll have a nice view to wake up to. Location-wise, you’re just minutes from Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens and less than a 10-minute drive from 5th Avenue South, so shopping and dining are never far away. Prices start at just $100 USD per night, which we think is a pretty great deal.
If Naples Garden Inn is booked for your dates, Hampton Inn is a great backup option, with free breakfast and a lovely outdoor pool surrounded by tropical palm trees. It’s also close to Lowdermilk Park Beach, Fleischmann Park, and downtown Naples, so you can easily spend the day at the beach before heading into town for dinner.Â
Gulfcoast Inn is another easy choice if you’re looking to save but still like that tropical feel. It’s just a short drive from downtown Naples, and with three restaurants, a huge heated pool, and a lively tiki bar at the center of it all, there’s plenty to enjoy without even leaving the hotel.Â

North Naples

BEST FOR QUIET & BEACHES
Pros
- Quieter than Downtown Naples
- Close to Vanderbilt Beach and Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park
- Lots of beach resorts and larger hotels
Cons
- You’ll need a car for most places
- About a 20-minute drive from Downtown Naples
- Fewer budget hotels
If you’re looking for quieter beaches and bigger resorts, North Naples is a great place to stay. This is where you’ll find Vanderbilt Beach, Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park, and Mercato, one of the best spots in Naples for shopping, restaurants, rooftop bars, and nightlife. Everything is a little more spread out here, so having a car definitely makes life easier.
North Naples feels quite different from Downtown. Instead of historic streets and older buildings, you’ll find big resorts, country clubs, and open-air shopping areas. It’s a little younger and more modern, but don’t worry, it still has that relaxed Naples atmosphere.
Mornings here can easily start with a walk along Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park or paddleboarding from Cocohatchee River Marina. One of our favorite parts was paddling through the mangroves and seeing how many sea turtles and ospreys we could spot.
Later, spend a few hours on Vanderbilt Beach or wander around Mercato if you’d rather stay out of the sun. Evenings are just as easy. Rooftop drinks, dinner, and live music usually do the trick.
So, if quiet beach days and lively evenings sound like your kind of trip, you’ll probably love North Naples.
Inn at Pelican Bay – $$$

Our top luxury stay in North Naples is definitely the Inn at Pelican Bay. From the cozy rooms and heated pool overlooking the lake to the convenient beach shuttle, everything here just makes your stay a little easier. You’ll even get afternoon donuts and a complimentary breakfast each morning, with live music while you eat. That’s a pretty good way to start the day!Â
The only thing to keep in mind is that the hotel doesn’t serve lunch or dinner. The good news is that the hotel sits right across from Mercato Shops, so restaurants, cafés, bars, and shops are all just a short walk away.
In the evenings, you can grab a drink at the cocktail lounge and enjoy live music on certain nights. Or, if you’d rather keep things a little quieter, head to the lakeside fire pit and unwind for the evening. Expect to pay anywhere between $220 and $750 USD per night.
If you’re after something a bit smaller, Vanderbilt Beach Resort is well worth a look. Set right on Vanderbilt Beach, it offers standard rooms and spacious apartments, plus the chance to enjoy dinner with your toes in the sand.Â
DoubleTree Suites – $$

DoubleTree Suites is a great mix of comfort and value. It’s tucked away in a quieter part of Naples, with a riverfront pool overlooking the mangroves, so it doesn’t take long to feel like you’re on vacation. And that’s before you’ve even been handed a warm chocolate chip cookie at check-in!
You’re sorted for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, plus there’s even a happy hour before you head out for the evening. If you want to stay active, there’s also a gym and free cruiser bikes, making it easy to explore the area. Northgate Village Shopping Center is right across the street, while Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park is only about a five-minute drive away, so it’s easy to venture out when you need a change of scenery.
Prices start at around $140 USD per night, which we think is a good deal, especially if you’re after somewhere quieter and away from the beachfront.
The Fairways Inn – $

The Fairways Inn makes it easy to enjoy upscale North Naples without spending a fortune.
This cozy, resort-style motel may be on the more modest side, but that doesn’t stop it from making your trip fun. During the day, the courtyard is the place to be, with a huge heated pool, lawn games like shuffleboard and cornhole, lots of seating areas, and gas barbecue grills if you prefer cooking for yourself. What else could you need?
You also get lots of freebies, including breakfast, parking, and even a complimentary cappuccino with freshly baked warm cookies at check-in. As for location, you’re only a short drive from Vanderbilt Beach and Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park, and with prices starting at just $90 USD per night, it’s safe to say that it’s one of the best-value budget stays in the region.

Top Activities in Naples

Now that you’ve found the perfect place to stay, it’s time to see what Naples is all about! Some of our favorite experiences here involved getting out on the water, spotting Florida’s famous wildlife, and exploring the mangroves and islands that make this part of the Gulf Coast so special.
Here are some of our favorite things to do in Naples:
- Cruise the Ten Thousand Islands and go shelling – Explore the maze of mangrove islands around Marco Island on this small-group boat tour! We spotted manatees and birds before dolphins started leaping through our boat’s wake. You’ll also stop at a remote barrier island that’s only accessible by boat.
- See wild manatees in the Everglades – Get an up-close look at Florida’s famous manatees on this small-group wildlife boat tour! There’s a more than 90% chance of seeing them, and our captain also helped us spot alligators, sharks, and birds along the way. With a maximum of seven guests, a covered boat, polarized glasses, and even a phone lens for underwater photos, this was our FAVORITE thing we did in Naples.
- Explore Naples on an electric trike – See Naples Pier, Cambier Park, Palm Cottage, local marinas, and more without walking around in the Florida heat! This electric trike tour takes you through some of Naples’ most interesting neighborhoods, including Port Royal, where we cruised past some seriously impressive waterfront mansions.
- Take a small-group boat tour through the Everglades – Cruise through the Ten Thousand Islands with a local captain on this intimate motorboat tour! We spotted sea turtles, manatees, bottlenose dolphins, fish, and tons of birds while learning about the Everglades. The tour also stops at an isolated island where you can walk the shoreline, hunt for shells, and enjoy having this remote slice of Florida almost to yourself.
- Pedal through the mangroves – Skip the arm workout and explore the mangroves on this fun pedal kayak tour! The kayaks are incredibly easy to use, leaving you free to look for dolphins, manatees, and birds while your guide teaches you about the local ecosystem. You can even opt for a paddleboard if you want more of a challenge.

What’s an eSIM?
An eSIM is a digital version of a SIM card. Instead of buying a little plastic chip and swapping it into your phone, you just download it. It connects your phone to a local network in whatever country you’re visiting — no stores, no waiting, and no fiddling with tiny cards.
In simple terms, it’s the easiest way to get data and stay connected while traveling.
We’ve tested a bunch of eSIMs over the years, and after a few frustrating experiences, we’ve found our favorite — Airalo. It’s fast, reliable, and incredibly easy to use. You can set it up in minutes (even my mom managed it solo on her first try!), and the prices are some of the best out there.
