Unlike the compact city center, these neighborhoods have a slower, more peaceful vibe where you can unwind and take in the natural beauty of the lake and surrounding forests. It’s a great place for families to stay, especially during the summer when you can spend long days swimming, kayaking, and paddleboarding in the calm waters.

There are also small cafes and boutique hotels dotted around, and there are some quiet walking trails that wind through the neighborhood. Nightlife is pretty minimal around here but that’s part of the appeal. This area is all about relaxing, recharging, and enjoying quality time.

Playa Bonita and Pinar de Festa are about 15-20 minutes from downtown Bariloche by car or bus, so you can easily explore city restaurants, shops, and attractions during the day, then return to your tranquil lakeside retreat in the evening.

While the peninsula is tranquil, it’s about a 20–30 minute drive from downtown Bariloche, where you’ll find restaurants, shops, and nightlife. But if you fancy a drink, we recommend staying local and taking a quick taxi ride to the huge Cerveceria Patagonia. It’s a giant brewery with tons of seating, epic lake views, games, and delicious bar food. 

Other than that, you can spend your days here hiking, kayaking, and golfing at the pristine Llao Llao Hotel course. Renting a car is the easiest way to explore fully, but guided tours and shuttles are also available. If you love natural beauty and want to escape the crowds, Circuito Chico is definitely one of the best areas to stay in Bariloche.

Villa Catedral is Argentina’s top ski village. It’s nestled at the base of Cerro Catedral, one of South America’s largest and most famous ski resorts. It’s the go-to destination for winter sports enthusiasts because it offers ski slopes and snowboarding terrain for all levels.

If you stay here, we strongly recommend hiring a car. Taxis can also get you downtown easily if you want to have a few drinks, but they can take a while to come, so having your own wheels makes life much easier!
