This ATV tour is hands down our favorite way to explore the rugged beauty of Saint Kitts. We always love exploring a new destination on an ATV because it’s a great way to get off-road and immerse yourself in the heart of the landscape. And I must say, this one is one of the best ATV tours we have ever done!

Our guide, Ivan, put us at ease with his friendly demeanor and he was super patient and encouraging with the first-timers in our group. So if it’s your first time quad biking, you’ll be in good hands with Ivan.

The adrenaline rush began as soon as we hit the trails. We enjoyed fantastic views of the sugar cane fields and dramatic mountain peaks as we raced through the countryside. Every so often, we paused and Ivan shared some tidbits about the island’s history with us.

We especially loved the stop at the Wingfield Estate, a historic 17th-century sugar plantation that actually has connections to Thomas Jefferson’s family. Here, we saw the ruins of one of the Caribbean’s oldest rum distilleries, which is actually still in the process of being excavated – how cool is that?

By the end of the ride, we were covered in dust but grinning from ear to ear. This tour was an absolute blast, and we loved the fact that there was some history sprinkled into the adventure. As far as we’re concerned, this is a total must-do!

2. See the local side of Saint Kitts

We love getting off the beaten track and experiencing a new destination through the eyes of a local and this tour of Saint Kitts allowed us to do precisely that! Our driver, Khalid, and our guide, Dominic, made us feel less like tourists and more like honorary Kittitians. For that reason, we cannot recommend this tour enough!

The van was super comfortable and not only was it air-conditioned, it was also well-stocked with beer, water, and soda. We had all we needed!

As we wound our way around the island, Dominic’s storytelling brought the history and culture of Saint Kitts to life. We stopped at historic highlights such as the WWI and WWII Memorial, as well as the fascinating Wingfield Estate, where we learned about the island’s sugar and rum heritage. The highlight for me though was Timothy Hill Lookout where you can see both the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea!

Throughout the tour, Dominic threw our trivia questions and handed out prizes for those who got them right! Then, the day wrapped up with a beach hangout session with our guides. They even took us to their favorite local beach bar, which was the perfect note to end on.

This tour felt so much more personal than most sightseeing tours, which is exactly why it’s our favorite! We were really able to connect with the island’s culture in a way that felt very authentic and our guides couldn’t have been nicer.

3. Drive your own 4×4 off-road Jeep

The views were great!
  • Duration: 3 hours 45 minutes

  • Highlights: Driving a Jeep off-road, visiting viewpoints and beaches, seeing native animal life, learning about Saint Kitts’ history, enjoying rum punch at Frigate Bay
  • Inclusions: Hotel pickup and drop-off, use of Jeep Wrangler, bottled water, local guide
  • Rating: 4.7 stars (check 150+ reviews here)
  • Free cancellation: Yes

For the adventurous at heart, driving a 4×4 Jeep through the rugged beauty of Saint Kitts promises to be an unforgettable adventure – I know it was for us! This thrilling half-day tour isn’t the kind of thing that you can do just anywhere, so why not take advantage of the opportunity while you’re here on the island?

Our journey began with a quick safety briefing and before we knew it we were off tackling the trails. The Jeeps were comfortable and well-equipped and driving through Saint Kitts’ lush terrain was totally exhilarating. We passed through mountains, sugar cane fields, and remote parts of the countryside before ending up on a beach. We really did see it all!

Our guide, Eldon, had such a warm personality, not to mention a wealth of knowledge regarding the island’s history and culture. We loved hearing his personal stories and he knew all of the best secret viewpoints to visit.

The tour wrapped up with a rum punch at the beautiful Frigate Bay, which was a dreamy end to an adrenaline-fueled adventure. There really is no feeling like thundering around Saint Kitts in a Jeep and it’s such a unique thing to do here. We promise you won’t regret booking this epic experience!

4. Hike to the highest volcano on the island: Mt. Liamuiga

Mt Liamuiga crater

The hike up was beautiful!
  • Duration: 4 – 5 hours
  • Time: 8 am or 9 am
  • Highlights: Hiking Mount Liamuiga, spotting endemic flora and fauna, peering into the volcano’s caldera
  • Inclusions: Hotel, airport, or port pickup and drop-off; local guides; Gatorade; first aid kit
  • Rating: 5 stars (check 100+ reviews here)
  • Free cancellation: Yes
  • Price: Check price here!

Mount Liamuiga is one of the highest mountain peaks in the Caribbean, so of course we just had to climb it while we were in Saint Kitts and Nevis. Since it really is a climb, rather than a hike, we knew it would be much safer to go with a guide. We booked this guided tour and we’re so glad that we did!

Hiking the volcano was certainly challenging, but it was really rewarding, too. In fact, it’s one of the most remarkable things we’ve ever done here! The climb itself was thrilling, but we also loved the chance to immerse ourselves in raw, rugged nature.

Our journey began with a trek through lush rainforests that were positively alive with birdsong! The trail became steep pretty quickly so a fair amount of fitness is required, but if you’re up to the challenge then it’s totally worth it. Once we reached the summit, the views into the caldera were absolutely insane. It was like visiting a land before time!

Not only was the hike itself epic, but our guide, Jay, was super enthusiastic and was even on hand to offer us Gatorade when we needed it. His encouragement and leadership ensured that the entire hike went off without a hitch. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide!

If you love to hike, then you can’t miss the chance to book this tour in Saint Kitts. It was the most rewarding thing that we did here, and we’ll never forget it!

5. Go horseback riding through nature trails

Horseback riding is such a great activity!

  • Duration: 3 hours
  • Time: 9:30 am or 1 pm
  • Highlights: Horseback ride through the hills; exploring remote trails; views of Basseterre, the Caribbean Sea, and the famous Sofa Stone; spotting a range of wildlife and vegetation
  • Inclusions: Hotel pickup and drop-off, horseback ride, bottled water, helmet and saddle, local guide
  • Rating: 4.8 stars (check reviews here)
  • Free cancellation: Yes
  • Price: Check price here!

There are few more enchanting experiences than horseback riding around a Caribbean island, so this 3-hour tour in Saint Kitts is a must-do! I’m not a super experienced rider but our guide, Smalls, was so patient and really set me at ease.

As we ventured along the trails into the island’s lush, we couldn’t help but marvel at the vibrant flora and fauna here. The horses were gentle and well-trained, so the riding was easy. We didn’t have to do much, which left us free to fully enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The scenery was absolutely wonderful, and we rode past towering bamboo, sea grape trees, and wild cherry groves.

At one point, we got to dismount for the famous Sofa Stone. The views from here were epic, as we could see Basseterre, the Caribbean Sea, and even some neighboring islands in the distance! Plus, it’s a fantastic photo spot because of the aforementioned Sofa Stone. If nothing else, do it for the photos!

After soaking in the views, we mounted our horses once more and made our way back down the mountain. We enjoyed some refreshments with our guides, and then bade goodbye to our horses. I was a little sad to say goodbye to my noble steed, as I felt as if we had really bonded during the ride.

This tour combines a fun activity with gorgeous wild scenery and epic views. It’s an incredible way to see a different side to Saint Kitts, and we would definitely do it again.

6. Enjoy a relaxing catamaran and snorkeling tour

We were craving a VIP experience in Saint Kitts and Nevis, so we booked this private catamaran tour – and boy, did it deliver! After all, nothing says luxury vacation like cruising through the Caribbean Sea in a private boat.

We knew we were in for a treat as soon as we stepped on the boat. The crew made us feel like royalty as we soaked up the sun on the deck, although don’t worry as there was a shaded seating area, too. Meanwhile, the open bar definitely heightened our enjoyment of the day!

The best part, though, was that our itinerary was entirely up to us. We decided to kick things off by snorkeling in Saint Kitts’ crystal clear waters, where we saw cowfish and even a ray. After that, we cruised to a secluded beach where we did some sunbathing and beachcombing, then we enjoyed a freshly prepared lunch on a quiet stretch of sand. It truly was paradise.

We have to mention the boat’s on-board amenities, top. We had changing facilities, a bathroom, and even a freshwater shower. It was a hassle-free experience and we had absolutely no complaints.

If you’re visiting Saint Kitts’ with friends, booking this VIP adventure is a must. A minimum of 5 people is required to book and group sizes are capped at 15. It would be the perfect way to celebrate a special occasion or just make some memories together!

7. Explore Saint Kitts’ rainforest

We had an unforgettable experience on this rainforest hiking tour. It was a seamless, close-knit tour and we had so much fun exploring the historic Wingfield Estate. We had visited previously, but this tour proved that there was so much more to it than we previously thought!

We were picked up in the morning and were whisked off to Wingfield in an open-air safari truck. Our guide, David, taught us about the fascinating history of this centuries-old plantation, and we got to visit the Carib Petroglyphs and the historic village of Old Road. Then, we took the Peter Manning Trail deep into Wingfield’s forest where we saw all sorts of wildlife like the Caribbean hermit crab!

David pointed out various plants and wildlife as we hiked along the trails. We loved seeing the playful green vervet monkeys, hummingbirds, and tons of butterflies!

After a fair amount of walking, we were treated to a refreshing dip in a nearby river. It was the ideal way to cool off. David offered us bottled water and light refreshments to keep us going, which were very welcome. The hike was long but the terrain was easy, and the forest was so beautiful that we never wanted to leave.

This tour offers an incredible mix of adventure, history, and culture. And most of all, it’s a must for nature lovers. We cannot recommend it enough!

8. Learn about the Liamuiga Natural Farm

I had no idea pineapple grew like this!
  • Duration: 5 hours

  • Highlights: Guided tour of Liamuiga Natural Farm, feeding the chickens and ducks, seeing coffee trees and unique island crops, welcome breakfast, two-course lunch after the tour, seeing green vervet monkeys and other wildlife
  • Inclusions: Hotel pickup and drop-off, private transportation, farm retreat access, breakfast and lunch
  • Rating: 5 stars (check 150+ reviews here)
  • Free cancellation: Yes

The Liamuiga Natural Farm Tour was one of the most unique and peaceful experiences we had during our trip to Saint Kitts. It really exemplified the island’s warm hospitality, right from the moment we arrived. We were greeted with a hearty breakfast platter and delicious pancakes – does it really get better than that?

Our guide, Thime, took us on a tour of the farm, pointing out coffee trees, herbs, sweet potato crops, and cabbages along the way. We spotted lots of green vervet monkeys, too, which was exciting!

It was really interesting to hear about what life is like for farmers in Saint Kitts and Nevis, but what was even better was the chance to feed the chickens and ducks. This would be the perfect activity for families to enjoy together in Saint Kitts, but I’ll be honest, we enjoyed it every bit as much as children would!

After our walking tour of the farm, we enjoyed a delicious two-course lunch. It featured the farm’s signature soup, which was cooked in a traditional Yabba Pot. Then, dessert consisted of hand-churned coffee ice cream, made with the farm’s homegrown beans.

This tour is such a wholesome experience, not to mention a chance to learn about local life in Saint Kitts. We felt so welcome and we loved the scenery, so the fantastic food was really just the cherry on top!

9. Taste your way through Basseterre on a food and walking tour

  • Inclusions: Local guide, food tastings, alcoholic drinks

If you want to get to know Saint Kitts and Nevis’ food scene then this walking food tour of its capital, Basseterre, is a must! We thought it was the perfect blend of cultural immersion, local flavors, and fascinating history. Plus, our guide, Glen, was phenomenal. He was so friendly and really passionate about local food.

The tour began with a stroll through the charming streets of Basseterre. Glen pointed out key landmarks like Port Zante along the way and we loved the views of the surrounding mountains. It was super interesting to learn about the island’s history, from its colonial past to its vibrant present, but what was even better was discovering that through food!

Arrive hungry because the food on this tour is so delicious. We started with light, flaky pastries from a local bakery, then stopped at a family-owned restaurant for ribs and snapper. I’m not kidding when I say that both dishes were out of this world! At another street food spot, we got to try Saint Kitts and Nevis’ unique national dish: salt fish and Johnny cakes.

And of course, we washed all of this down with some rum-based drinks. When in the Caribbean, right? Meanwhile, the small group size meant we could ask lots of questions and get to know our fellow participants as we bonded over Kittian cuisine. I really can’t think of anything that could have made this experience any better!

10. Go on a mini speedboat snorkel adventure

Driving your own mini speed boat around Saint Kitts’ southeast peninsula? Sign us up!

This unique tour presents an unmissable opportunity to speed around one of the Caribbean’s best loved islands and snorkel with the vibrant marine life. Does life get better?

The short answer is no! We absolutely loved this tour. Driving our own mini speed boat was so exciting (and pretty adorable too, I won’t lie!) Bailey and I took turns driving, and the boats were very easy to maneuver through the calm Caribbean waters.

We made a stop at a secluded snorkeling spot. Having the area all to ourselves was amazing, and the marine life that we saw was even better. Schools of colorful dishes darted around us, and we were even lucky enough to spot a sea turtle gliding gracefully through the water.

After snorkeling, we cruised over to a hidden beach that larger boats can’t access. We really got off the beaten (watery) track with this tour! Having this pristine beach to ourselves was such a treat and although we were sad when it was time to head home, enjoying fruit snacks and rum punch back at the marina did soften the blow pretty well.

This tour is equal parts relaxing and exhilarating, not to mention super unique. We will definitely book this experience again the next time we’re in Saint Kitts.

SafetyWing is one of the cheapest providers out there and covers everything from medical costs to lost luggage, travel delays, and emergency flights. A huge difference we’ve found between them and other companies is that they let you take out a policy AFTER leaving your home country. We’ve also found it handy that it’s a monthly payment rather than a lump sum, and you can get a refund for unused time.

SafetyWing has helped us out in some scary situations before and their affordable coverage has given us peace of mind. You can read our honest review of SafetyWing for all the pros and cons.
