This Upper Antelope Canyon tour was an unforgettable experience, and I think it’s a total must-do for anyone visiting Arizona! It’s a narrow slot canyon that sunlight beams pour into from above, so walking through it really does make you feel like you’ve stepped into another world, or a Surrealist painting. 

You’re only allowed to visit the canyon on a guided tour, so I booked this one since it has over 1,400 glowing reviews! The only thing that’s better than exploring the iconic Upper Antelope Canyon is visiting the often overlooked Lower Antelope Canyon! We were keen to get off the beaten tourist track and see a lesser-known part of this incredible valley, so we booked this Lower Canyon tour, and it proved to be the highlight of our trip to Page. 

As soon as we climbed down the first metal ladder into the narrow passageways of the Lower Canyon, I knew we were in for a special experience.

This tour is the perfect pick for adventurous travelers because it involves a lot of climbing ladders and squeezing through tight sections, rather than just strolling around. Still, it’s not too physically demanding—our group had travelers of all ages, and everyone handled it well.

And the journey down was 100% worth it because it was amazing to see how the sandstone walls twist and curve in such surreal ways. The entire canyon is like a natural sculpture! And we loved our guide, David, who really enhanced our visit by pointing out interesting formations and sharing stories about Navajo culture and the geological history of the canyon. I learned so much more than I expected!

As adventurous travelers, we just could not pass up the chance to explore Antelope Canyon and Lake Powell on this epic kayaking tour! We booked the sunrise slot, and it was 100% worth the early wakeup call, as we got to glide out across the calm water in the soft morning light, with total peace and quiet all around us. Talk about an epic way to start the day!

We kayaked across Lake Powell toward Antelope Canyon and got to paddle through narrow, winding waterways as we went, with those dramatic canyon walls rising up on either side. The kayaks were comfortable and stable, so they’re suitable for beginners, and our guide, JD, made sure everyone felt confident before setting out.

About halfway through, we pulled up the kayaks and hiked into the canyon on foot. The transition from water to dry sandstone was absolutely amazing. The canyon walls seemed to glow in the morning light, and we had plenty of time to walk slowly, take photos, and soak it all in.

This Native American dinner show is an unmissable cultural experience! It’s an amazing way to immerse yourself in Arizona’s indigenous culture, but it’s also just a really fun way to spend an evening in Page.

The night starts with a warm welcome and a hearty meal featuring Navajo Tacos made on fresh, handmade frybread, which is a classic indigenous food—and it’s totally delicious, just FYI. Trying Native American food is a must while you’re here, but food is really just the beginning. 

As we were served our delicious dinner, the stage came to life with a vibrant showcase of Native American arts. Seriously, we watched everything from traditional drumming and singing to hoop dancing and flute playing. The stories the performers told had us rapt, and they also offered a deep insight into Navajo culture and traditions. We even got to hear some personal reflections from Navajo elders, which made the show extra special. 

Yes, Page’s landscape is incredible, but you really can’t come to town without taking the chance to learn about the area’s indigenous heritage. Too often, travelers pass through the city on their way to Antelope Canyon or Horseshoe Bend without getting a true sense of the culture that’s been rooted here for centuries.

This combo tour was honestly one of the best things we did during our trip to Page. It’s an amazing way to go beyond the typical tourist sites and see some truly breathtaking spots away from the crowds. 

I must say that the Secret Antelope Canyon stop was especially memorable. It’s still relatively unknown, so we had the slot canyon almost to ourselves. It’s harder to get to this part of the canyon, so there are far fewer crowds, and it boasts the same narrow passages, wavy walls, and crazy light beams as the more popular Upper and Lower Canyons. 

And not only was the Secret Canyon itself amazing, getting there was a blast! We took an off-road 4×4 ride through Navajo Land, taking in all the red rocks and cacti along the way. It was exhilarating, and our open-air truck was well-shaded and actually pretty comfortable.

After the canyon, we were taken to a private viewpoint of Horseshoe Bend. I’ve done the public trail before, which is long and hot. This one, however, was less than a five-minute walk, so there was no risk of sunburn and overheating, but the view was just as jaw-dropping!

There were no crowds and virtually no noise, only the quiet sweep of the Colorado River carving its path through the canyon. If you want to see the best of Page, be sure to book this tour ASAP!

7. Hike through Lower Antelope Canyon

If you’re up for a bit of a challenge, don’t miss this Lower Antelope Canyon hiking tour! We mentioned a Lower Antelope Canyon tour earlier, but this one is even more active and immersive, since it involves a 1-mile (1.6-kilometer) hike through the canyon. 

The route is a loop that features narrow passages, steep staircases, and eight ladders to climb along the way. I found that the extra effort really made the whole experience feel way more adventurous and fun.

We started with a short walk through the desert to reach the canyon entrance, then we descended a long staircase deep into the sandstone. There, we found ourselves surrounded by flowing, multicolored rock formations carved by centuries of wind and water, which was a pretty incredible feeling. 

Our guide, Eli, did an amazing job of ensuring that we stayed safe, and he shared lots of stories with us about Navajo history and geology. He helped us find the best angles for photos, too, which came in handy because the lighting in the canyon is unreal.

The hike itself takes about an hour to an hour and a half. You’ll definitely want to wear sturdy shoes and be ready for a bit of climbing, but the effort is absolutely worth it. If you’re physically able and want a more immersive way to experience Lower Antelope Canyon, this is the tour to book. No wonder it has a whopping FOUR THOUSAND glowing reviews!

Antelope Canyon can get pretty busy, so if you’re looking for a quieter and more personal experience away from the crowds, consider this Waterhole Canyon tour! Waterhole Canyon is a bit of a hidden gem, but it still delivers the same wow factor as its more famous cousin. 

We did this tour on a whim, but I’m so glad that we did! Waterhole offers the same breathtaking sandstone walls and swirling formations as Antelope Canyon, but without the crowds, noise, or rush. Honestly, we had long stretches of the canyon completely to ourselves, which was just incredible. 

The hike itself is about 2 miles (3.2 kilometers) round trip and includes sandy paths, narrow crevices, and a few ladders to climb. It’s not just a casual stroll through the canyon, but it is a real adventure, and as long as you don’t have mobility issues, you should be able to handle the hike just fine. 

The best part of the experience was that this canyon was just so quiet! We could hear the wind moving through the rocks, and we were able to take the time to get our perfect photos without feeling as though we were holding up a line of people behind us.

If you’re willing to do a bit more walking and want a less touristy, more authentic experience in Page, I can’t recommend this tour enough. It’s one of my favorite memories from our trip!

If you’re looking for a peaceful way to explore the beauty of Antelope Canyon without hiking or dealing with crowds, this small-group boat tour is the perfect choice! We had the best time cruising around Lake Powell and admiring the iconic canyon from out on the water. 

There’s a maximum of 6 guests per boat, so there’s no overcrowding, and it’s an open-bow vessel, which means you get unobstructed views as you glide along. We were able to sit back and relax as we admired the way that the light plays off the red walls of the Antelope Canyon.

It can get crowded inside the canyon, but when you’re out on the water, it feels like you have the whole place to yourself. 

Along the way, we also cruised past the massive Glen Canyon Dam and got to marvel at Wahweap Bay and the surrounding desert cliffs. We even got a new perspective on Castle Rock and Navajo Mountain, because gazing at them from the water really makes you realize just how vast and dramatic Page’s landscape is!

So if you want a unique and low-effort way to experience the magic of Antelope Canyon and Lake Powell, I’d say that this tour is a must!

It’s in a convenient spot in Page, with restaurants and shops nearby, and the staff here are known for being friendly and helpful.

Rooms are clean and straightforward, with everything you need for a good night’s rest after a day of exploring. Some even come with views of the surrounding red rock landscape! Better still, there’s a swimming pool and hot tub on site where you can unwind.
