Exploring the Pyramids of Giza is one of those once-in-a-lifetime experiences – but let me tell you, trying to do it on your own is not the move. That’s why this private tour with an Egyptologist guide is such a game-changer. I booked it, and honestly, it made everything so easy and stress-free. No navigating chaotic streets, no confusing maps – just many unforgettable moments!

The day kicked off with hotel pick-up in a private air-conditioned car and a drive to the Pyramids of Giza. Seeing those towering monuments up close for the first time gave me goosebumps!

My personal guide (an actual Egyptologist!) made history come alive with endless stories and insider details. I’d never have appreciated the Great Sphinx and Valley Temple as much without their insights!

Then, it was off to the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. This place is massive, with over 250,000 artifacts, but thankfully, my guide knew exactly where to go. My favorite part was exploring the iconic Tutankhamun exhibit. The amount of treasure and gold they found in his tomb was mind-blowing!

With entrance fees, transportation, and even a traditional Egyptian lunch all sorted, I didn’t have to worry about a thing. If you’re heading to Cairo, trust me – this tour is the way to do it. There is a reason it has over 5,000 5-star reviews (see them all here)

If you’re looking to add some cultural experiences to your Egyptian itinerary, this full-day private tour is a must! Not only do you get to visit the Pyramids of Giza, but you also get to enjoy a camel ride and explore the bustling Khan el Khalili bazaar.

The day begins with a private pick-up from your hotel, and then you’re off to the Pyramids of Giza. But instead of just snapping photos, you’ll enjoy a 30-minute camel ride through the golden sands, with breathtaking panoramic views of the pyramids. It was a bucket-list experience I’ll never forget!

After saying goodbye to my new camel friend, we visited the Great Sphinx and then had lunch at a delicious local restaurant. The adventure then continued at the Egyptian Museum, where we spent three hours exploring thousands of artifacts (including Tutankhamun’s treasures). Thanks to our guide’s endless knowledge and captivating stories, the time flew by!

The day wrapped up at Khan el Khalili bazaar, one of the largest markets in Cairo. Packed with vibrant stalls selling fabrics, handicrafts, and antiques, it’s the perfect place to pick up a souvenir or two. Where to Stay in Cairo, Egypt

Fairmont Nile City in Cairo Egypt

The Pyramids of Giza are just outside of Cairo. While you can stay in the Giza area, we chose to stay in Cairo so we could do more during our visit. Plus, there are more hotel options! Here are our three recommendations for a luxury, mid-range, or budget hotel in Cairo:

Luxury – $$$

If you’re looking for an upscale stay, the Fairmont Nile City is an easy choice. You can choose between city or Nile River views, enjoy the Art Deco decor, relax in the rooftop pool, or dine at one of the restaurants onsite. The rooms are exquisite, ranging from standard hotel rooms up to a Presidential Suite.

Prices can get as low as $170 USD but average around $250-$400 per night. You can check out all the options and book this stay on Booking.com.

Mid-range – $$

Hilton Cairo Grand Nile is an excellent hotel option at a moderate price point! Located along the Nile River, you can enjoy views from your room, whether you have a twin or king room. The rooms are comfortable and modern, and you can dine at one of the seven onsite restaurants or relax at the spa.

Rooms are well priced, starting around $150 USD. You can book this stay on Booking.com!

Budget – $

You don’t have to break the bank to get Pyramid views from your hotel! Pyramids Height Hotel is a budget friendly hotel, offering an outdoor pool, sauna, garden, terrace, and restaurant. The rooms are quaint and simple, but clean and provide everything you need for a comfortable stay.

Prices start at $50 USD per night and can be booked on Booking.com.

Don’t Forget Travel Insurance!

If you’re looking to save money on travel insurance, we currently use and recommend SafetyWing. We’ve been using their coverage since 2018 and they’ve had our backs when we needed emergency flights and got sick overseas.

SafetyWing is one of the cheapest providers out there and covers everything from medical costs to lost luggage, travel delays, and emergency flights. A huge difference we’ve found between them and other companies is that they let you take out a policy AFTER leaving your home country. We’ve also found it handy that it’s a monthly payment rather than a lump sum, and you can get a refund for unused time.

SafetyWing has helped us out in some scary situations before and their affordable coverage has given us peace of mind. You can read our honest review of SafetyWing for all the pros and cons.
