Overview of the Best Areas to Stay in Singapore

And stay close to the main attractions!

Finding the right neighborhood to stay in Singapore is actually pretty easy—especially with this guide to help you! The first thing you need to know is that it’s super easy to get around Singapore. The MRT system connects the whole city, and it’s famously efficient and reliable. Singapore is also very safe and walkable, so it’s easy to explore different areas on foot.

One of the things we love about Singapore is that it’s packed with personality. Each neighborhood has its own unique vibe, from historic Chinatown and colorful Little India to the sleek skyline of Marina Bay and the family-friendly resorts of Sentosa.

Here’s a quick overview of each of our favorite neighborhoods:

  • Chinatown – Best for first-time visitors We think that Chinatown is the most fun area of Singapore to stay in, thanks to its lively vibe and amazing food—plus, it’s super close to the CBD. Capri by Fraser China Square is our favorite option, with 5-star service and an excellent location.
  • Marina Bay – Best for luxury travelers This is Singapore’s famously high-end area where you’ll find the iconic Marina Bay Sands hotel, as well as the Merlion and the Gardens by the Bay. Dao by Dorsett is one of the most affordable places to stay in this area.
  • Downtown Singapore – Best for convenience This is the CBD, so it’s super central with a ton of entertainment options. Grand Park City Hall is an elegant hotel that’s super close to several parks and museums.
  • The Quays – Best for nightlife This area follows three historic Quays, and it’s home to much of the city’s best nightlife. Four Points by Sheraton Singapore, Riverview is a comfortable hotel overlooking the river.
  • Sentosa Island – Best for families & beach resorts This small island is where you’ll find theme parks like Universal Studios, Kidzania, and Madame Tussauds. Most of the accommodation here consists of family-friendly resorts, such as Resorts World Sentosa – Hotel Ora.
  • Orchard Road – Best for shopping This is Singapore’s main shopping district, so it’s super central and home to lots of huge malls. JEN Singapore Tanglin by Shangri-La is a chic but reasonably priced hotel here.
  • Little India – Best for budget travelers & local culture Singapore’s Indian enclave is famously colorful with incredible food, and it’s a bit more budget-friendly than most other areas. Holiday Inn Singapore Little India is a reliable and affordable choice.

Important Tip

Multiple Singapore trips have taught us that this city doesn’t reward spontaneity when it comes to planning. The good places get snapped up months in advance, leaving the overpriced and underwhelming options for last-minute travelers.

The sweet spot for booking Singapore accommodations is 3-4 months out—enough time to secure good rates but not so far ahead that you’re locking in plans excessively early.

Where to Stay in Singapore

Chinatown

BEST FOR FIRST-TIME VISITORS

Pros

  • Packed with culture, history, and amazing food
  • Central location, close to CBD
  • Well-connected by the MRT

Cons

  • Can be noisy, especially at night
  • More crowded and less slick than other areas

Chinatown is one of Singapore’s most colorful and exciting neighborhoods. We love it because it’s where history, culture, and food all come together in one compact area. So if you want to see a less sleek and more authentic side of the city, we think it makes the perfect base.

There are tons of cultures to enjoy here. Some of the top attractions include Chinatown Heritage Center, Sri Mariamman Temple, and the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple. We also highly recommend a trip to the Maxwell Food Center, which is home to many of Singapore’s best street hawkers. There are also plenty of trendy rooftop bars around—personally, we enjoy The Otherside because it serves great craft brews.

We also think that Chinatown is great for first-time visitors because it’s a convenient base! It’s right next to the Central Business District (CBD), so getting around to other parts of Singapore is a breeze.

One thing to be aware of is that Chinatown does get busy, especially in the evenings and during Chinese New Year. But if you’re looking for a lively, eclectic area with plenty of character, this is one of the best places to stay in Singapore.

Mondrian Singapore Duxton – $$$

Mondrian Singapore Duxton is a sleek hotel that oozes style. The interiors are modern with bold art pieces, polished finishes, and lots of natural light. There’s a stunning rooftop pool with skyline views that makes it feel like a mini urban resort. It’s the perfect place to retreat to after exploring Chinatown’s vibrant, bustling streets.

The location is right in the Duxton Hill area, a trendy pocket of Chinatown that’s filled with bars, restaurants, and cafes. You’re close to both the MRT and the CBD, which makes it easy to get around. In short, it’s a dream base for a city break! Rooms usually range from $230 to $400 USD per night, with suites costing up to $800 USD.

Looking for another luxury option? Duxton Reserve Singapore takes it up a notch with 5-star service, a sleek design, and even free daily cocktails.

Oasia Hotel Downtown is another high-end option in Chinatown, boasting an impressive vertical garden that makes you forget you’re in the city.

Capri by Fraser China Square – $$

Perfect spot to cool off after sightseeing

We stayed at Capri by Fraser China Square on our last visit and loved it! This hotel offers 5-star service and amenities at a moderate price point. The decor was modern and stylish, and the location was fantastic – walkable to downtown and close to some of Chinatown’s best restaurants.

The real highlight is the rooftop pool, especially in Singapore’s hot climate! Breakfast here was a great way to start our day, and there is a restaurant on site, in case you’re too tired to venture out after a day of exploring.

Rooms average around $400 USD per night.

If Capri is all booked up, check out Ann Siang House. The location is great, walkable to major sights, and the rooms are modern yet comfortable!

For a historic option, check out the Heritage Collection on Chinatown. Walkable to MRT stations and top sights, this is a convenient, budget-friendly option with all the comforts!

ST Signature Tanjong Pagar – $

ST Signature Tanjong Pagar is a budget-friendly option that doesn’t skimp on style. This co-living concept hotel has compact but modern cabins with clever layouts, making the most of the space. The shared kitchen and lounge areas are great for meeting other travelers, giving it a social vibe.

Located right between Chinatown and Tanjong Pagar, you’ll have easy access to hawker centers, nightlife, and the MRT. It’s ideal for solo travelers, digital nomads, or anyone looking to save money while still staying central and comfortable.

Cabins typically cost between $70 and $225 USD per night.

Historic travelers will also love KēSa House, and it’s budget-friendly! This 1920s restored townhouse is charming, yet comfortable, and a unique stay in Chinatown.

Rest Chinatown Hotel is another budget option, with an excellent location in Chinatown. The room options are good for traveling as a group, while still providing a comfortable stay.

Marina Bay

The Supertree Grove is a must-see here!

BEST FOR LUXURY TRAVELERS

Pros

  • Home to Singapore’s most iconic attractions
  • Incredible luxury hotels and skyline views

Cons

  • Lacks neighborhood charm and street-level culture
  • Hotels and dining here are some of the most expensive in the city

Marina Bay is Singapore’s crown jewel! This is the city at its most futuristic and glamorous. Its waterfront area is based around the huge Marina Bay Sands resort, which consists of three towers topped by a skyway.

And of course, exploring the Marina Bay Sands complex is a must here. You can head up to the observation deck, indulge in retail therapy at The Shoppes Mall, and take a gondola ride down the artificial river inside if you get tired of walking!

The iconic Gardens by the Bay are here, too. Visiting the Flower Dome, exploring the Cloud Forest, and catching the light show at the Supertree Grove is a must! We also highly recommend a visit to the giant ArtScience Museum or catching a show at the Esplanade.

We think Marina Bay is perfect if you want luxury, sweeping views, and easy access to Singapore’s most famous attractions. It’s ideal for a romantic trip to Singapore or if you just want to stay close to the city’s most exciting and cutting-edge attractions.

Marina Bay is also a very well-connected area, with easy access to the CBD, Chinatown, and the Civic District on the MRT. If you want to be right in the middle of Singapore’s most spectacular setting, this is the place to be.

Marina Bay Sands – $$$

Marina Bay Sands is more than a hotel—it’s a destination in itself! This massive complex is instantly recognizable with its three towers and the boat-shaped SkyPark perched on top. Staying here gives you access to the world’s largest rooftop infinity pool, with unmatched views of the Singapore skyline. It’s honestly worth staying here just to be able to swim above the city!

Inside, the rooms are sleek and modern, many with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Marina Bay. There are also over 80 restaurants, a luxury mall, a casino, and direct access to the ArtScience Museum and Gardens by the Bay.

We think this is the ultimate splurge stay in Singapore. Expect to pay between $700 and $900 USD per night, with suites costing between $1,000 and $3,000 USD per night.

If Marina Bay Sands is all booked up, the Mandarin Oriental is another fantastic option. Towering over the bay, you’ll enjoy impeccable views and a convenient location, plus all the luxuries you’d expect from the brand.

You also can never go wrong with a stay at The Ritz-Carlton, right in Marina Bay. From top-tier service to upscale decor, and rooms with a water view, you’ll never want to leave your room.

The Fullerton Hotel Singapore – $$

The Fullerton Hotel Singapore is a grand, historic property set in a beautifully restored neoclassical building that once housed Singapore’s General Post Office. It’s a step back into old-world elegance, with soaring columns, marble floors, and a stunning waterfront location overlooking Marina Bay.

We love that staying here gives you both heritage charm and modern comfort. The hotel has a gorgeous outdoor infinity pool, fine dining restaurants, and easy access to the Merlion, Boat Quay, and the Civic District.

It’s a fantastic option for travelers who want something luxurious but with more character than Marina Bay’s ultra-modern hotels. Rooms usually range from $350 to $650 USD per night, with suites ranging up to $1,400 USD.

If The Fullerton is booked up, Pan Pacific Singapore is an excellent alternative. With a stunning pool, panoramic view rooms, and seven different dining options, this is one of the most luxurious stays in Singapore.

Just opposite The Fullerton, Parkroyal Collection by Marriott offers a high-end stay in the heart of Marina Bay. Offering a range of room options, this is ideal for a quick Singapore getaway.

Dao by Dorsett AMTD Singapore – $$

Dao by Dorsett AMTD Singapore is a super slick aparthotel. It really encapsulates the Marina Bay area’s high-end, ultramodern vibe perfectly, without charging sky-high prices. Plus, the studios come with kitchenettes, and the suites have full kitchens, which is ideal for those who like to self-cater.

You can also opt to include breakfast, so you really do get a great balance between hotel service and home-like comfort here! Located just outside Marina Bay, it’s within walking distance of the Lau Pa Sat hawker center and the Downtown MRT station, giving you quick access to the rest of Singapore.

There’s also a rooftop pool with skyline views and a fitness center with views over the water. Studios start at $250 USD per night, while two-bedroom apartments reach up to $700 USD per night.

Another moderate budget option in the area is Ascott Raffles Place. Still boasting the high-end luxuries of Marina Bay, this 5-star stay offers a convenient location and modern amenities for a comfortable stay.

Downtown Singapore

BEST FOR CONVENIENCE

Pros

  • Central location with easy MRT access everywhere
  • Close to museums, landmarks, and shopping malls

Cons

  • More of a business/corporate vibe
  • Not as atmospheric or characterful as other areas

Downtown Singapore is the beating heart of the city. It’s where the Civic District, Central Business District (CBD), and parts of Orchard all meet, so it really doesn’t get more central than this! Marina Bay Sands is also just a 20-minute walk away, so we think this is one of the best areas to stay if you want a central base with easy access to just about everywhere.

Some of Singapore’s most important cultural and historical landmarks are here, including the National Museum of Singapore, the statue of Sir Stamford Raffles (the founder of Singapore!), and St. Andrew’s Cathedral. You’ll also find the iconic Raffles Hotel, which is famous for inventing the Singapore Sling cocktail.

The shopping scene is excellent too, with malls like Raffles City and Suntec City on offer. Downtown is especially suitable for first-time visitors, business travelers, or anyone who wants convenience above all else. You’re right on the MRT network, so Marina Bay, Clarke Quay, and Chinatown are just minutes away.

The area does have a bit of a corporate feel, but so does a lot of Singapore. So, if you like staying in a polished, well-connected part of the city, Downtown ticks all the boxes!

Fairmont Singapore – $$$

Fairmont Singapore is a luxury hotel that combines comfort with unbeatable convenience. Located right above City Hall MRT, it’s directly connected to Raffles City Mall, so shopping, dining, and transport are literally at your doorstep.

The rooms are spacious and elegant, many with balconies overlooking Marina Bay or the city skyline. There are six restaurants on-site, two outdoor swimming pools, a spa, and even a tennis court, so you’ve got everything you need for a resort-like stay in the heart of the city.

Guests love this hotel because it delivers a five-star experience in a super central location. Expect to pay between $350 and $700 USD per night for a room, with suites climbing higher.

If the Fairmont isn’t available, we recommend the Parkroyal Collection Pickering. With one Michelin Key, this hotel offers a 5-star experience at a slightly lower price tag than other neighborhoods of Singapore.

Alternatively, Pullman Singapore Hill Street is right around the corner and consistently exceeds travelers’ expectations! The rooftop pool will be perfect in Singapore’s heat, plus other perks and services for a luxury stay.

Grand Park City Hall – $$

Grand Park City Hall is a modern boutique hotel just a short walk from City Hall MRT. Guests love its bright, well-designed rooms with smart features, like lights and curtains that can be controlled via a tablet.

The location is ideal, as the hotel sits right between the Civic District and Marina Bay. You can easily walk to museums, historic landmarks, and shopping centers! There’s also a rooftop pool with skyline views, plus an on-site restaurant and bar.

It’s a great mid-range option for travelers who want a touch of luxury without an eye-watering price tag. Double rooms typically range from $200 to $500 USD per night, but triple, quadruple, and family rooms are available.

If Grand Park is booked up, Wyndham Singapore Hotel is in the same area and offers equal quality. The location is ideal, just a few minutes from Marina Bay Sands, which you can see across the bay!

For another elevated stay in Downtown, check out The Capitol Kempinski Hotel. This restored historic building is simply beautiful and offers a quiet escape from Singapore’s city vibe.

Ji Hotel Orchard Singapore – $

Ji Hotel Orchard Singapore is one of the most affordable hotels in Downtown Singapore, but that doesn’t mean it compromises on comfort or style. This place has a super modern, minimalist  Japanese-inspired design that somehow makes “no-frills” feel very chic!

The hotel sits near Dhoby Ghaut and Orchard Road, so you’re right by one of Singapore’s best shopping areas and only a short MRT ride from Marina Bay or Chinatown.

There aren’t many on-site facilities beyond a lounge and 24-hour reception, but with the city at your doorstep, you probably won’t miss them. Rates are usually between $180 and $225 USD per night.

Want a central stay without blowing the budget? The Quay Hotel checks all those boxes, offering a clean, comfortable hotel within walking distance to Downtown’s top attractions.

For a modern and quaint budget-friendly stay, Heritage Collection on Clarke Quay is a well-loved spot. Offering self-check-in and a convenient location, this is a great option for on-the-go travelers.

The Quays

BEST FOR NIGHTLIFE

Pros

  • Vibrant riverside atmosphere with restaurants, bars, and nightlife
  • Convenient for exploring both the CBD and cultural sights

Cons

  • Can be noisy, especially in Clarke Quay at night
  • Less residential, so fewer quiet streets compared to other neighborhoods

The Quays is one of Singapore’s most dynamic and scenic areas. It consists of three separate quays: Clarke Quay, Robertson Quay, and Boat Quay. Each one has its own unique vibe, which makes this area fun and interesting to explore!

Each quay has its own personality. Clarke Quay is the nightlife hub, and the bars and restaurants light up in an array of rainbow colors after dark. We love walking here at night because there’s a great atmosphere and it just looks so pretty! It also has the best MRT connections of the three quays.

Robertson Quay is calmer and more family-friendly, and Boat Quay sits in between the two, with historic shophouses and outdoor dining. We like staying in Boat Quay because it means we can enjoy the nightlife but get away from the hubbub when we need to.

There are plenty of attractions nearby, including the Elgin Bridge and the Asian Civilisations Museum. You can also walk to Chinatown, Marina Bay, and the CBD in 15 – 20 minutes.

The Quays is a touristy area. That may feel less authentic to some, but it also means that you’ll be very well catered for and enjoy a lively, upbeat vibe.

InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay – $$$

InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay is a luxury hotel that blends modern style with riverside charm. The rooms are sleek and spacious, with floor-to-ceiling windows, and many overlook the Singapore River. This gives a very tranquil contrast to the lively area below!

The hotel has several dining options, including riverside restaurants as well as a rooftop bar, fitness center, and a beautiful outdoor pool. Clarke Quay’s nightlife, Robertson Quay’s cafes, and the CBD’s historic sites are all within easy reach—if you can drag yourself away from the property. Rooms typically range from $350 to $650 USD per night.

Located just across the river, The Warehouse Hotel offers a great alternative in case the InterContinental is all booked. Overlooking the river, this warehouse-turned-hotel is modern, sleek, and ultra stylish.

Situated closer to downtown, Paradox Singapore is a 5-star stay in the Quays. Booking here will ensure you’re a short walk to top sights, and can easily bop back to your hotel for a rest!

Four Points by Sheraton Singapore, Riverview – $$

Four Points by Sheraton Singapore is a modern mid-range hotel with contemporary rooms and a relaxed riverside vibe. The hotel has a pool, fitness center, and fantastic on-site dining—what’s not to love?

Located right along the Singapore River, this hotel gives you easy access to Clarke Quay, Boat Quay, and Robertson Quay. It’s the perfect base for enjoying the best of the area’s riverside walks and nightlife, and when you want to go elsewhere, you can simply hop on a short MRT ride to Marina Bay and Chinatown.

Rooms generally range from $200 to $400 USD per night, making it a great mid-range choice in The Quays.

If Four Points isn’t available, check out the Park Regis in Clarke Quay. This newly renovated hotel balances luxury and budget, making it an ideal place to stay without spending your entire travel fund.

Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel sits along the Singapore River, giving incredible views from the top floors! Enjoy the outdoor pool, four restaurants, and a quick drive to Orchard Road.

Furama RiverFront is a budget-friendly hotel located near the river with compact, comfortable rooms and practical amenities. There’s an outdoor pool, gym, and a simple on-site restaurant serving international dishes. Its location makes it easy to explore The Quays’ nightlife, riverside dining, and nearby cultural spots.

This hotel is ideal for solo travelers, couples, or families looking for an affordable base with good access to the MRT. While it may not be as stylish as higher-end hotels, it offers solid value and a convenient location, so we think it’s a smart choice. Rooms usually range from $80 to $430 USD per night.

Holiday Inn Express is always a solid budget option, because you know what you can expect! The location is fantastic, just a short walk to the MRT station and Chinatown, so you’re always connected.

Another great option is M Social Hotel, situated in a quiet neighborhood in Robertson Quay. You wouldn’t think this is a budget option by looking at it, with its stylish decor and array of amenities, making for a comfortable stay!

BEST FOR FAMILIES & BEACH RESORTS

Pros

  • Packed with family-friendly attractions and resorts
  • Nice beaches
  • Still close to the city

Cons

  • Less cultural depth compared to other areas
  • More expensive than the mainland

Sentosa Island is Singapore’s ultimate resort getaway. It’s a small island that was once used as a prisoner of war camp by the Japanese military, but you’d never know that walking around today. Now, it’s the self-proclaimed island of fun!

Sentosa is home to sandy beaches, theme parks, and luxury resorts. It’s easily the best place to stay if you’re planning a family holiday with the kids, because this island is packed with attractions. Universal Studios Singapore is the biggest draw, but you’ve also got the S.E.A. Aquarium, Adventure Cove Waterpark, and the SkyHelix Sentosa ride. It’s also home to the Sentosa Golf Club, which is one of Asia’s top courses!

We also just enjoy hanging out at Sentosa’s beaches. In fact, Palawan Beach is the southernmost point of Asia, which is pretty cool!

Sentosa offers a very different vibe from the rest of Singapore. You won’t get the same cultural immersion here as in other parts of the city, but you can get to other areas via the Sentosa Express monorail, the MRT, or the Grab app. If family fun is your main priority, we highly recommend Sentosa!

W Singapore – Sentosa Cove is a vibrant luxury resort with a bold, playful design. It boasts funky interiors, marina views, and a gigantic pool. In fact, the hotel pool is one of the largest in Singapore, and it’s surrounded by palm trees and cabanas, making it the perfect spot to relax after a day of theme park fun.

The resort is located in the exclusive Sentosa Cove area, so it’s a little quieter than the main resort strip but still close to the action. The hotel has several excellent restaurants, a spa, and even offers free shuttle services to Sentosa’s top attractions to make your life as easy as possible! Expect rates between $400 and $700 USD per night, with suites ranging higher.

Raffles Sentosa is another top-tier resort in the area, ideal for luxury travelers who want to get away. This elegant stay boasts villas with private pools, five restaurants, and is just a 1-minute walk to Palawan Beach

We also love The Barracks Hotel for a 5-star stay. It’s luxury without an insane price tag, but offering amenities that will let you relax on Sentosa Island.

Resorts World Sentosa – Hotel Ora is one of the most affordable options on Sentosa Island, but it’s certainly no slouch! It’s sleek and modern, and although it has less panache than the W, it’s still a five-star stay.

Plus, it’s located right in the middle of the Resorts World complex, which means you’ll be mere steps away from Universal Studios, S.E.A. Aquarium, and the casino, so it couldn’t be in a better spot. The resort also offers lots of space, a large outdoor pool, and a well-equipped gym, plus daily yoga and fitness classes!

Guests love this hotel because it gives you a resort experience without an insanely high price tag. Rooms typically range from $200 to $375 USD per night, with suites reaching up to $700.

For more moderate-priced hotel options, check out The Outpost Hotel. Offering sea-view rooms and a large outdoor pool, this is a great spot to unwind and enjoy a relaxing Singapore vacation.

We also love the Sofitel Singapore Sentosa, tucked away in 27 acres of tropical woodlands. This is a great nature escape with enough on-site activities to keep you busy, and it’s kid- and pet-friendly!

Village Hotel Sentosa is another option that you don’t want to miss. It leans more in the budget-friendly category, but it’s still a resort in Singapore, so it’s not geared towards backpackers on a shoestring budget.

Here, you’ll enjoy a massive pool with a swim-up bar, large facilities that let you spread out, and newly renovated rooms for a comfortable stay. They offer a range of double rooms, as well as family-sized rooms, so this is a great option if you’re traveling with kids.

Prices start around $200 USD per night.

If you value a slow, wellness-centric retreat, Oasia Resort is your best bet! Located right next to the Village Hotel Sentosa, you can enjoy wellness and fitness activities and workshops, the spa, and an all-around tranquil atmosphere.

For a fun and lively stay, Resorts World Sentosa – Hotel Michael is a short walk from Universal Studios Singapore and the Adventure Cove Waterpark™. This is ideal if you’re traveling as a family, as you can hit the parks, then come back to recharge!

Orchard Road

Walking through the Singapore Botanic Gardens in Singapore
The Singapore Botanic Gardens are just a short walk away

BEST FOR SHOPPING

Pros

  • Incredible shopping, dining, and entertainment options
  • Central, convenient, and well-connected by MRT

Cons

  • Lacks cultural and historic character
  • Can feel crowded and commercial

Orchard Road is Singapore’s most famous shopping street. It’s the ultimate playground for anyone who loves fashion, food, and a bit of glitz and glam! The bustling boulevard stretches for over 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) and is lined with gleaming malls, department stores, and designer boutiques.

But this area is not just about retail therapy. Many of Singapore’s best restaurants and rooftop bars can be found here, and even some green spaces in Istana Park and Penang Road Open Space. The Singapore Botanic Gardens, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are also just a short walk away, and they’re free to visit.

We think Orchard Road is ideal for travelers who want a polished, cosmopolitan base. It’s especially good for shopaholics and those who like an upscale vibe right in the middle of the action! Orchard Road is also incredibly well-connected, with several MRT stations dotted along its length, so it’s easy to reach other parts of the city from here.

The main trade-off is that you won’t get much of Singapore’s traditional charm here. It’s modern, glossy, and commercial, but that is exactly what many visitors come to Singapore for! That vibe is very much part of Singapore’s modern-day identity.

Four Seasons Hotel Singapore – $$$

Four Seasons Hotel Singapore offers timeless luxury in a peaceful pocket just off Orchard Road. The rooms are elegantly designed with a soothing, modern style, and the service is exactly what you’d expect from a top-tier hotel. In short, it’s flawless!

This hotel has two sumptuous swimming pools (including an adults-only rooftop pool), a world-class spa, and exceptional dining options like Michelin-starred Jiang-Nan Chun. The location is excellent, too, because you’re right next to Orchard Road but tucked away enough to enjoy peace and quiet.

Expect to pay between $400 and $700 USD per night for a room, with suites reaching much higher.

If the Four Seasons isn’t available, Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel is a great stand-in. Located in the heart of Orchard Road, you can enjoy the bustling atmosphere, then come back and settle into this 5-star stay to unwind!

The St Regis Singapore is another great option, next to the UNESCO Botanic Gardens. We love the St. Regis brand and always know it’s a top-tier stay when we book here!

Orchard Rendezvous Hotel is the best budget-friendly pick in the Orchard Road area! The rooms are simple and comfortable, with warm tones and a classic design. It’s not as flashy as some Singapore hotels, but it offers everything you need for a convenient stay at a lower price point.

One of the best parts of staying here is the location. It sits right at the start of Orchard Road, giving you easy access to all the shopping malls, MRT stations, and plenty of dining options.

There’s also a pool and fitness center on site, which is a nice perk for the price. Rooms usually cost between $170 and $400 USD per night, making it one of the most affordable ways to stay in the Orchard area.

Orchard Hotel Singapore is another budget-friendly option in the heart of Orchard Road. It offers convenient access to top shopping and MRT stations, so you can get all around the city with ease.

Just a little behind Orchard Road, the York Hotel is a great option for those looking for a quieter stay. We love the outdoor pool and large windows, and that it’s only a five-minute walk to the shopping street!

BEST FOR BUDGET TRAVELERS & LOCAL CULTURE

Pros

  • Rich cultural atmosphere with temples, markets, and street food
  • Affordable accommodations and great local dining options

Cons

  • Can be crowded and noisy
  • Less polished than other central neighborhoods

Little India is a vibrant and colorful neighborhood that immerses you in Singapore’s Indian heritage. It pops up regularly on Instagram, but we actually found it to be a little grittier in person—in the best way!

We love exploring Little India on foot, mostly because all of the spices and amazing food around here just smell so good! It’s a lively area that feels much less polished and more real than Marina Bay Sands, so if that’s your vibe, then we think you’ll enjoy this area.

The area is perfect for travelers who love food, culture, and shopping. We recommend visiting the Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple, Tekka Centre, Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple, and the Indian Heritage Centre. Oh, and definitely go and wander around Serangoon Road, where you’ll find local shops and tons of hawker stalls selling traditional Indian sweets and snacks.

Little India is also convenient for budget-conscious travelers because the area has plenty of affordable accommodations and eateries. Yet it’s still well-connected by the MRT, so you can easily go and explore more upscale areas like Marina Bay and Orchard Road. And if you enjoy authentic, local charm, we think you’ll definitely enjoy experiencing this side of Singapore!

One Farrer Hotel is probably Little India’s most upscale property. It offers spacious, sleek rooms with floor-to-ceiling and elegant finishes. There’s an inviting swimming pool and a lush courtyard for guests to enjoy, and while there’s no restaurant on site, you have tons of local dining options right on your doorstep.

The on-site gym is way better equipped than most hotel gyms are, so this hotel is a great choice for travelers who like to keep up their fitness routine on the road! Meanwhile, the hotel’s location near Farrer Park MRT makes it easy to explore the rest of Singapore. Rooms generally range from $225 to $570 USD per night, including breakfast.

The Vagabond Club is a boutique hotel with personality, and a great option if the One Farrer Hotel is booked up. Located within walking distance of Little India’s top sights and Kampong Glam, it makes for a great launch point for exploring.

Holiday Inn Singapore Little India is a reliable hotel with bright, modern rooms and friendly service. The hotel has all of the amenities you’d expect from a Holiday Inn, including a pool, a small gym, and a casual on-site restaurant serving international cuisine.

The main reason guests love this hotel is its location! It’s just steps from Tekka Centre, Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple, and countless eateries. Yet at the same time, it’s still quiet enough for a good night’s sleep! Rooms typically range from $185 to $350 USD per night.

We also love the Hilton Garden Inn in Little India for a mid-range hotel option. Situated next door to a historical Hindu Temple, you can enjoy the cultural charms of the area paired with the standard quality of a Hilton Hotel.

Alternatively, the Holiday Inn Express Serangoon is another solid option! We honestly love how you know exactly what to expect by booking at this hotel chain, no matter where you are in the world.

Owen House by Habyt is a super chic, yet budget-friendly aparthotel. Guests love its modern, minimalist design and well-equipped communal areas, such as a shared lounge and kitchen. It’s a co-living space, but all of the rooms are private, so you won’t be sharing a dorm with strangers.

Some rooms and apartments have a private kitchenette, too. The hotel’s location puts you in the heart of Little India, with Tekka Centre, local markets, and restaurants just a short walk away. This is a great pick for solo travelers, digital nomads, or anyone prioritizing location and affordability. Rates usually range from $115 to $350 USD per night.

If this hotel is booked up, Citadines Rochor Singapore is another excellent choice, geared towards long-term travelers with apartment rooms. Ideal to unwind, do laundry, take a swim, and enjoy a slower Singapore trip!

The Wunderlust is a budget stay with style, located in a historic 1920s Art Deco-style building. Offering standard hotel rooms or apartment-style, it blends comfort with convenience for a relaxed place to stay.

AIRALO e-SIM Up To 15% Off With Code “DTRAVEL15”

What’s an eSIM?

An eSIM is a digital version of a SIM card. Instead of buying a little plastic chip and swapping it into your phone, you just download it. It connects your phone to a local network in whatever country you’re visiting — no stores, no waiting, and no fiddling with tiny cards.

In simple terms, it’s the easiest way to get data and stay connected while traveling.

We’ve tested a bunch of eSIMs over the years, and after a few frustrating experiences, we’ve found our favorite — Airalo. It’s fast, reliable, and incredibly easy to use. You can set it up in minutes (even my mom managed it solo on her first try!), and the prices are some of the best out there.
