Our first choice for Seville is always to stay centrally, where we can wander the streets on foot and soak up the magic. But you can also save a little money by staying a bit further out and using the city’s excellent bus network and affordable taxis to get around. Either way, if you stay in any of these areas, you’ll be well-positioned to experience the best of what Seville has to offer!

• Santa Cruz– We think that the historic heart of Seville is perfect for first-time visitors, as you’ll have the charming old Jewish Quarter, the stunning Seville Cathedral, and tons of great tapas bars right on your doorstep. Where to Stay in Seville

Santa Cruz

If it’s your first time in Seville, then it’s my firm belief that there’s no better place to stay than Santa Cruz! This charming neighborhood is the historic heart of the city.

Once the Jewish quarter, it’s a postcard-perfect maze of narrow lanes, whitewashed walls, colorful balconies, and the faint scent of oranges in the air. It’s easily the most picturesque area in town, and it’s right in the middle of all the action, so what’s not to love?

We love staying here because it puts you just steps away from Seville’s most iconic sights, including the Real Alcázar de Sevilla, the Cathedral, and La Giralda. And there are many other highlights tucked within the labyrinth of alleys, as well as cute tapas bars and bodegas.

Santa Cruz is very pedestrian-friendly, and it’s easy to wander over to other neighborhoods. It’s the perfect place to stay if you’re only in the city for a short time, as it puts you in a prime position to soak up as much of Seville’s history, architecture, and culture as possible. 

This beauty and vibrant atmosphere does come with a higher price tag attached, but we really do think that it’s worth it. Santa Cruz is very hard to beat for an unforgettable Seville experience!

Casa de la Moneda Residence Sevilla is a stylish and convenient choice in the heart of Seville. Just a few minutes’ walk from La Giralda, the Cathedral, and the Royal Alcázar, it puts you right in the middle of the city’s historic core. You’ll also be a short walk from the Triana Bridge and within easy reach of Plaza de España and Maria Luisa Park.

Alohamundi Catedral offers a simple but homely stay in the middle of Santa Cruz. It’s light and airy, and has a sun terrace that offers lovely city views. As you may be able to guess from the name, this property is super close to the Seville Cathedral! There are also tons of other historic churches around, and the Royal Alcazar is just a 5-minute walk away.

El Arenal

The elegant riverside area of El Arenal is perfect for foodies, luxury lovers, and those looking to immerse themselves in Seville’s traditional culture. It sits between Museo and Santa Cruz, right by the Guadalquivir River—boat rides, anyone?

El Arenal is a very historic area that was the main port where ships used to set off for the Americas and the Indies during the Age of Exploration. Nowadays, it’s well known for its world-class dining and luxury hotels!

Basically, it’s perfect for anyone looking for an upscale stay, and it’s a hub for bullfighting. After all, the area is home to the Plaza de Toros de la Real Maestranza, which is arguably one of the most famous bullrings in the world. So if you’re visiting during bullfight season, from April to September, expect the neighborhood to buzz with excitement! 

El Arenal is also home to Tablao El Arenal, which is the city’s most famous flamenco venue. Honestly, catching a show here is a must while you’re in Seville, so this neighborhood is really the ideal place to immerse yourself in authentic Andalusian culture.

As you can probably tell, we love this area! But do keep in mind that it’s not the best choice if you’re traveling on a tight budget.

Casas De Adriano offers color, character, and a prime location just a 5-minute walk from the iconic Triana Bridge. It’s also close to Plaza de Armas and the Royal Alcázar, with La Giralda and Seville Cathedral less than a 10-minute stroll away. What more could you want?

Hmm, maybe a beautiful sun terrace, a cute little balcony, and soundproofed rooms that definitely come in handy during the lively bullfighting season. It’s ideal if you’re looking to explore El Arenal’s cultural treasures on foot while enjoying all of your creature comforts! Apartments here usually cost between €160 and €225.

The Zentral Arenal Suites offer a fantastic, affordable base in El Arenal. This can be hard to come by, so don’t wait too long to snap this place up!

The property is just a short walk from the Cathedral and Alcázar, and we love the rooftop, which even has sunbeds to chill out on! Meanwhile, the apartments and studios each have their own kitchens, and some units have their own little balconies or terraces.

And the location is hard to beat, as the Guadalquivir River and the Maestranza Bullring are just steps away. We think that this place is a true steal for the price. Speaking of which, superior apartments cost between €85 and €150 per night.

La Alameda

La Alameda de Hércules is one of Seville’s most affordable and vibrant neighborhoods. It’s a little further from the historic center, so it’s perfect if you want to experience a side of Seville most tourists miss. But at the same time, you can still get to popular areas like Santa Cruz and El Arenal in less than 30 minutes on foot, less than 20 minutes by bus, or under 10 minutes by taxi.

This area has a really interesting history. It used to be one of the poorest parts of Seville and was a red light district, but today it’s completely transformed into a safe and lively hub that locals love.

We really enjoy La Alameda for its buzzing nightlife and authentic atmosphere. The area is packed with fantastic tapas bars, cool cafés, and live music venues that keep the energy alive well into the night.

Some of the main attractions include Mercado de Feria and Mercado de la Encarnación, two bustling local markets where you can sample authentic Spanish foods and soak up the neighborhood’s character.

You won’t find many luxury options here, but if you’re on a budget or looking for a longer stay, La Alameda is a great choice! We also think it’s perfect for solo travelers who want to meet people and enjoy a thriving nightlife scene.

Mid-range – $$

One Shot Conde Torrejón is a stylish hotel that’s perfect for relaxing after a busy day in Seville. I especially love the rooftop swimming pool and sun terrace, as they’re great spots to unwind with a drink or just soak up the views.

If you want a lively nightlife scene combined with rich history, Alfalfa is the place to stay in Seville! It’s located just north of Santa Cruz and boasts narrow, charming alleys that definitely rival its southern neighbor. It’s said to be where the city of Seville was originally founded, and we love how the vibe here mixes traditional Andalusian culture with a trendy and modern atmosphere.

One of the biggest draws of the area is the Metropol Parasol, also called Las Setas. It’s a striking modern wooden structure that stands out against the city’s historic backdrop. You’ll find plenty of tapas bars and small independent shops offering unique crafts and local flavors, so it’s a fun place to eat, drink, and shop.

Other must-see sights here include the Flamenco Dance Museum, the Palace of the Countess of Lebrija, and the Museo de las Ilusiones, which is a ton of fun, just FYI.

Alfalfa is a great choice if you want to be close to other neighborhoods like Santa Cruz and enjoy a balance of chic and local charm. Just keep in mind, it’s one of the noisiest areas in the city, especially late at night.

Triana

If you want to experience Seville like a local, head to Triana! This vibrant neighborhood is steeped in tradition and has historically been home to Seville’s Flamenco dancers, bullfighters, and sailors. 

Today, it’s one of the city’s most charming barrios, and it’s celebrated for its authentic atmosphere and colorful buildings. If you’ve been to the city before and are looking for a more local experience, we think it’s the perfect place to stay.

Triana is known for its many artisan ceramic studios, and the Centro Cerámica Triana is a great place to learn about the area’s iconic pottery trade. We love wandering around the streets here because they’re lined with azulejos and offer a reprieve from the crowds in the city center. But don’t worry, there’s still a great vibe going on, with lots of lively local tapas bars to enjoy!

Consider staying in Triana if you’re after a more laid-back, community-oriented experience. It’s about a 30-minute walk or 15-minute taxi ride from the center, but if you’ve been here before or have plenty of time to explore, we think that the area’s charm and culture more than make up for it.

If it’s your first time in Seville, staying in Centro is a smart choice. As the name suggests, this area lies at the heart of the city, stretching from Plaza Nueva in the south up to Plaza de la Encarnación in the north.

Just to make you aware, Centro can have two meanings. It’s often used to refer to the larger downtown area that includes Santa Cruz and El Arenal, but it’s also a distinct neighborhood of its own.

If you’re visiting Seville during April, then Los Remedios is where you’ll want to be! This modern and residential neighborhood is across the Guadalquivir River from the historic center and is just south of Triana, which we talked about above. 

While Los Remedios may not have the postcard-perfect charm of some other barrios, it offers a spacious, orderly feel with wide boulevards and apartment-lined streets, so for families or those looking for a more relaxed vibe, it can offer a nice contrast to Seville’s maze-like old quarters.

For most of the year, Los Remedios has a calm, local vibe and is ideal for travelers looking to stay in a non-touristy area. But during Feria de Abril, this neighborhood becomes the life and soul of the party! The fairgrounds (Recinto Ferial) come alive with music, dancing, food, and traditional Andalusian fashion, so checking it out is a must. 

Los Remedios is also a good pick if you’re visiting friends or family in Seville or want quick access to Triana while enjoying a more residential atmosphere. Just note that it’s a little farther from the main historical sights, so do be prepared to walk or hop on public transport.

Monte Carmelo is a solid pick for travelers who want a peaceful stay just outside the city’s busiest tourist spots. It’s located in the Los Remedios neighborhood, about a 15-minute walk from the Alcazar and Seville Cathedral, and close to Plaza de España and Torre del Oro. The location is ideal if you want to be close to the action without being right in the middle of the hustle and bustle!

The hotel has a warm, welcoming feel, with a lounge bar and café for guests to hang out in. And despite it being a budget pick, the rooms are really stylish with bubble mirrors, neutral tones, and lots of natural light.

Nervion

Nervion is one of Seville’s more residential areas, but it’s still just a 15-minute walk from the city center. You can often get a bit more for your money around here, and it’s home to the Santa Justa train station, so it’s ideal if you’re planning some day trips!

Nervion is one of Seville’s most sought-after residential areas due to its excellent transport links and wide boulevards, as well as its mixture of historic buildings and swanky new developments. It feels a lot more contemporary than some of the city’s more quaint and historic neighborhoods, but you can still access the charming tourist center very easily. 

It’s also a perfect place for soccer fans to stay, because Nervion is home to the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium, where Sevilla FC plays. The festive vibes around here are unmatched on game days as fans fill the surrounding bars, I promise you! Meanwhile, shoppers and families will love the huge Nervión Plaza mall.

We also like dining out in Nervion because there’s a nice mixture of casual tapas bars and top-rated restaurants. So if you’re a sports fan, a foodie, or a day tripper, we think that Nervion is a great place to stay, especially if you appreciate a more local and less touristy experience.

Hotel Giralda Center is a polished hotel just an 8-minute walk from Seville’s old town. It offers amazing value for money, with spacious and comfy rooms, sleek bathrooms, and a rooftop bar that features fantastic views across the city. It’s an epic sunset spot! 

We also love the on-site restaurant here, which serves a mix of Mediterranean and local Andalusian dishes all day long, whether you fancy brunch, drinks, dinner, or high tea! This is such a great place to stay if you want to do some sightseeing but still want the option to escape the crowds. Double rooms here usually cost between €115 and €225 during the summer season.

Budget – $

Novotel Sevilla is an ideal stay for soccer fans as it’s right next to the Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium. It offers clean, comfortable, and well-equipped rooms, as well as a lovely rooftop pool and terrace. The property is also just a 15-minute walk from famous spots like the Alcazar and Seville Cathedral.

But you don’t even have to walk, because there’s a tram stop just a minute’s walk from the property that can take you right into the tourist center where all of the main attractions are. Rooms here usually cost between €95 and €200 per night.

These were some of our absolute favorite experiences, and we highly recommend booking in advance—many of these tours sell out quickly, especially during spring and fall!

• Take a tapas & traditions tour – This Seville food tour was the perfect intro to the city! We ate our way through local taverns with a passionate guide who shared the history behind each dish. From Iberian ham to sherry wine, it was the tastiest history lesson we’ve ever had.

• Visit Ronda and the White Villages – Escaping the city for a day to see Ronda and the whitewashed villages of Andalusia was a huge highlight. This full-day tour took us through Zahara de la Sierra, Grazalema, and Ronda’s dramatic gorge. It was the perfect mix of scenic views and small-town charm.

• Discover Córdoba and Carmona – We loved this day trip from Seville to Córdoba and Carmona. From the breathtaking Mezquita to Carmona’s Roman ruins, it felt like stepping through centuries of history. Our guide made everything come alive, and we even had time to explore the Jewish Quarter.

• Join a cooking class in Triana – Learning to make authentic paella in this Triana market and cooking class was one of the most fun things we did! We toured the market first, picked out ingredients, and then headed to the kitchen to cook up a feast with sangria. Don’t miss this hands-on experience!

• Tour the Alhambra from Seville – Visiting the Alhambra and Albaicín in Granada was unforgettable. This skip-the-line tour made the long day so easy, and we had time to really soak in the palace, gardens, and views of the Sierra Nevada. Truly one of the most magical places we’ve ever seen.

Tips for Renting a Car in Spain

• Drive on the right: Like most of Europe, you’ll be driving on the right-hand side in Spain. And make sure you stick to the speed limit, speed cameras are common here!
