• Le Marais (3rd & 4th districts) – This stylish and historic neighborhood pretty much embodies the world “cool” with its vintage boutiques, art galleries, and buzzing LGBTQ bars. And our favorite Paris hotel, Hôtel Duo, offers a fantastic stay right in the heart of it all.

• Sentier/Rue Montorgueil (1st & 2nd districts) – A lively, central area that we think is the best place in the city to eat, thanks to its scores of markets and bakeries. Hôtel Edgar & Achille offers a quintessentially Parisian stay here, and an excellent on-site restaurant.

• Montmartre (18th district) – Oh, Montmartre. We can’t resist the charms of Paris’ Bohemian quarter, which boasts innumerable artists’ studios and vintage cafés, as well as the famous Sacre-Coeur. Hôtel des Arts Montmartre is our top pick for a cozy and creative stay around here.

• The Latin Quarter (5th district) – Home to the famous Sorbonne University, this Left Bank neighborhood is full of student hotspots and bookstores. We think that Hotel Grand Coeur Latin is the perfect base to explore it all.

• Opéra (9th district) – If you’re into theatre, Opéra is the place to be, and it also boasts tons of Paris’ best department stores. We recommend the New Hotel Opéra for a relaxing and central stay.

• Eiffel Tower (7th district) – It may be pricey and a bit lacking in local flair, but the 7th is unbeatable if you want to be close to the Eiffel Tower. Timhotel Invalides Eiffel is a charming mid-range pick in the heart of the action, offering classic Parisian style just a 10-minute stroll from the tower.

Where to Stay in Paris 

Le Marais

Le Marais is a cool and creative neighborhood that encompasses the 3rd and 4th arrondissements. Its cobbled streets are lined with elegant architecture and buzzing cafes, and the area is home to attractions like Place des Vosges and the Picasso Museum. We think it’s perfect for first-timer visitors to the city or couples seeking that famous Parisian romance! 

For me, what makes Le Marais truly special is its blend of old and new. The neighborhood has deep cultural roots stemming from both its Jewish heritage and its role as a hub for the city’s LGBTQ+ community. It boasts medieval architecture, but at the same time, you’ve got boutiques, art galleries, and trendy bars.  

Make sure you head to the Rue de Rosiers area, which is famously a hub for Paris’ best falafel—yes, really—and grab a drink at La Belle Hortense, which is a bookshop slash wine bar. How cool is that?

Best of all, Le Marais is central and well-connected to the rest of Paris, making it an ideal base for exploring the city. Its blend of charm, history, and energy certainly keeps us coming back time and time again!

• One of the most charming and walkable neighborhoods in Paris
• Lots of culture, shopping, and dining

Cons:

• Can get quite busy, especially during peak seasons
• Hotel prices tend to be higher due to its popularity and central location
• Can be loud at night, particularly at weekends

Luxury – $$$ 

SO/ Paris Hotel is an upscale, modern gem located in the heart of Paris, just a 20-minute walk from Notre Dame! The location is fantastic, and the rooms are sleek and stylish, with private balconies offering stunning views of the city. I think it’s the perfect place to unwind after a day of sightseeing, and it would be a really special place to stay on your honeymoon.

The hotel also boasts a spa, fitness centre, and a trendy restaurant that serves delicious French cuisine. Don’t forget to check out the bar, either – talk about an ideal spot for a drink with a view!

Rooms typically range from €500 to €800 per night. They also have a pretty generous cancellation policy, which is a bonus.

Mid-range – $$ 

Hôtel Duo is an absolute gem in the heart of Paris’s lively Marais district, and it’s hands down my favorite place to stay! It’s super close to the Hotel de Ville Metro Station, so it’s the ideal base for exploring all that Paris has to offer. 

The hotel has a sleek, contemporary design, and the rooms are both comfortable and stylish. I loved the attention to detail here. I think this place offers really great value for money because it’s such a nice property and it won’t break the bank, either. It’s perfect for couples, and I would definitely stay here again! 

Prices range from €275 to €425 per night, depending on the season. I’d highly recommend booking early to secure the best rate!

Budget – $ 

Pratic Hotel is a charming and budget-friendly hotel located in the heart of Marais. It’s super close to the Place de Vosges and the Saint Paul Metro Station, so it offers convenience alongside its simple but comfortable rooms. 

The hotel is clean and well-equipped, with everything you need for a great stay! Honestly, it’s a great value stay and the location is second to none. Rooms here typically cost between €150 and €250 per night, which I think is well worth it to be in the heart of beautiful Marais.

Sentier/Rue Montorgueil 

Sentier/Rue Montorgueil is a lively and charming area that’s mostly located in the 2nd arrondissement, although it also borders the 1st. It’s our top pick for foodies looking to get to know Paris through its cuisine. 

The main street, Rue Montogueil, is lined with bustling cafés, bakeries, and food markets. In fact, it’s widely considered to be the best food street in Paris! There’s even a sign declaring that McDonald’s is banned here.

Of course, the best thing to do here is eat! From artisan chocolate shops to fromageries and quaint cafes, it’s a fantastic place to sample France’s most famous treats.

Another thing we love about this area is that it offers a slice of authentic Parisian life. It’s a little off the usual tourist track but still very central, so you’re just a 10–20 minute walk from the Notre Dame Cathedral. The huge Les Halles mall is also close by!

Pros 

• Central location with easy access to major sites like Centre Pompidou and Notre Dame Cathedral 
• Very walkable and well-connected by the metro
• Can be cheaper than other central areas of Paris

Cons

• Rue Montogueil can get crowded, especially on weekends
• Can be loud at night 

Luxury – $$$ 

Hôtel du Sentier is a chic, boutique hotel situated right on the historic Place du Caire. It’s just a 20-minute walk from the Louvre, so you couldn’t ask for a better location! 

One thing I love about this hotel is that the rooms are soundproofed, so you won’t be kept awake by partygoers on weekends. Plus, it’s hard not to fall in love with the bright, elegant, and airy rooms. The whole place looks like a Parisian dream come to life! 

There’s also a relaxed French bar and restaurant on site, and we love the sunny terrace where you can enjoy your morning coffee or a cheeky apéritif later on. Well, when in Paris…

Mid-range – $$

Hôtel Edgar & Achille is a stylish boutique hotel located in the heart of Paris, just a short walk from the bustling Grands Boulevards and the Centre Pompidou. The location is perfect for those who want to be close to all the action without the noise! 

For me, what really stands out about this hotel is the unique, artist-designed rooms. Each one has its own character, and the chic, contemporary décor makes the space feel fresh and inviting. Plus, with soundproofing in the rooms, you’ll sleep peacefully despite the lively city just outside. That’s what I call the best of both worlds! 

Another highlight is the Edgar restaurant, which offers a delicious selection of seafood and international dishes. Rooms here typically start between €200 and €350 per night, and booking ahead can help you score a better deal, especially during the quieter months!

Budget – $ 

Korner Opera is a cozy and stylish hotel located in the heart of Paris, less than a 20-minute walk from the Louvre and the Opera Garnier. It’s definitely a winner in terms of location, and I love the rooms, too. They’re modern and minimalist but very chic, and all of the furniture and facilities look brand new.

Plus, the people who run this place really know what their guests need. The rooms have all of the essential amenities like free WiFi, flat screen TVs, and air conditioning. Plus, there are complimentary hot drinks available at reception. 

Rooms here average around €250 per night, but prices do fluctuate according to season. Booking in advance can help you snag a great deal!

Montmartre 

Montmartre is a charming and historic neighborhood located in the 18th arrondissement of Paris. Known for its artistic heritage and bohemian atmosphere, Montmartre has long been a hub for creatives, including famous artists like Picasso, Van Gogh, and Toulouse-Lautrec, to name but a few! 

The area is a blend of narrow, cobbled streets, charming cafés, and spectacular views of the city, making it one of the most iconic neighborhoods in Paris. Honestly, we challenge you not to fall in love with it. 

And Montmartre isn’t just a great place to hang out and people-watch. It also boasts the Sacré-Cœur Basilica, which offers breathtaking views of the entire city. I actually think the views from here are better than those from the Eiffel Tower—yes, really! 

If you stay here, be sure to visit the Place du Tertre, a lively square where artists sell their works. Meanwhile, history lovers can visit the Musée de Montmartre to learn more about the story behind this vibrant neighborhood.

Oh, and it’s also home to the Moulin Rouge. Yes, THE Moulin Rouge!

Montmartre is ideal for couples, solo travelers, or groups of friends. It’s not as central as other areas, but to be honest, the area is a major attraction in itself.

Pros:

• A bit cheaper than many popular areas
• Super charming and scenic 
• Great food and café culture

Cons:

• Further out from most of the popular attractions
• Not as well connected by public transport as other areas 
• Busy with tourists during the day 

Luxury – $$$ 

Manolita Paris is a chic and luxurious 5-star hotel in Montmartre. It’s just a short walk from Pigalle Metro Station, which means it’s one of the best places in the area to stay if you’re keen to explore other parts of the city. 

The rooms are spacious with an old-world charm. And don’t get me started on the luxurious marble bathrooms. In fact, I could probably stay in those spa baths all day long!

The hotel staff really goes above and beyond to ensure comfort, with 24-hour front desk service and concierge assistance. It’s also just steps away from the famous (or should that be notorious?) Moulin Rouge.

Rooms typically range from €650 to €825 per night during peak season.

Mid-range – $$ 

Hôtel des Arts is a charming hotel in the heart of Montmartre, just a short walk from the stunning Sacré-Cœur Basilica and the famous Moulin Rouge. The location is perfect for anyone wanting to explore the artistic vibe of the area, with vibrant cafes and galleries just around the corner.

The rooms are cozy and comfortable, with modern amenities like air conditioning, free WiFi, and flat-screen TVs. Some rooms even offer beautiful views over the rooftops of Paris, which I certainly wouldn’t mind waking up to.

Plus, there are two metro stations (Abbesses and Blanche) within walking distance of the hotel, so if you plan on using public transport to get around Paris, then you’re in the right place.

Budget – $

Le Village Montmartre by Hiphophostels is a vibrant and budget-friendly option for travelers in the heart of Montmartre. It’s an artsy hostel in an artsy neighborhood—what more could a backpacker want?

The rooms are simple but comfortable, offering air conditioning, free WiFi, and private bathrooms with showers. It’s a great choice for those seeking an affordable place to rest after a day of exploring.

A continental breakfast buffet is included in the price, making this place even more wallet-friendly. There’s also a cozy common area that’s great for meeting other travelers, not to mention a terrace with a beautiful view of Sacré-Cœur Basilica.

The Latin Quarter

The Latin Quarter is a vibrant and historic neighborhood located in the 5th arrondissement of Paris. It’s famous for its academic legacy and bohemian charm, and I imagine it must be pretty amazing to be a student here! 

I think that the Latin Quarter has to be one of—if not THE—most scenic areas of Paris. It boasts a lot of Gothic architecture, and it’s the site of many viral Instagram posts. Its lively cafés, charming bookshops, and cobbled streets will probably have you dreaming about moving here. 

It’s also home to some notable attractions such as the Panthéon and the Jardin des Plantes. Meanwhile, the area is home to one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the world. No wonder artists like Hemingway and James Joyce were so keen to spend time here!

If you want to experience an authentic version of Paris’ famous flair, the Latin Quarter is the perfect place to soak it all in. After all, it’s one of the areas that gave Paris its reputation as the intellectual and artistic capital of the world.

Pros: 

• Scenic and lively 
• Home to iconic landmarks
• Relatively affordable area

Cons:

• It’s a bit further from main attractions
• Not the best for metro connections, especially further south

Luxury – $$$

Maison Colbert is a charming hotel located in the heart of the Latin Quarter, just a short walk from the iconic Notre Dame Cathedral and the historic Ile-de-la-Cité. The location is perfect for anyone wanting to experience the lively atmosphere of this area, with tons of cozy cafés and bookshops nearby. Basically, if you want to feel like a posh Parisian intellectual, this is the hotel for you.

Some of the rooms here actually provide views of Notre Dame. Talk about an amazing sight to wake up to! 

Meanwhile, the Panthéon is just a stone’s throw away, and you’re pretty close to public transport connections. That’s if you can drag yourself out of the super comfy beds, of course!

Rooms here range from €600 to €900 per night for most of the year, although there are deals to be had during the winter months.

Mid-range – $$

Hotel Grand Coeur Latin is a stylish and modern hotel located in the vibrant Latin Quarter, and it offers a lot of bang for your buck. The rooms are stylish and airy, and I love the sleek bathrooms.

For me, one of the standout features of this hotel is its Wellness Centre, which includes a beautiful 15-meter indoor swimming pool inspired by Roman baths. It’s the perfect spot to unwind after a day of sightseeing! The hotel also offers a hammam and massage services for ultimate relaxation.

It’s also just a quick walk into the famous Saint Germain area from here. Notre Dame Cathedral is just 15 minutes away on foot. Basically, Paris is your oyster!

Budget – $

Hôtel les Degrés offers fantastic value for money in the Latin Quarter. And if you want to stay close to Notre Dame, then you won’t get much closer than this!

This hotel is housed in a charming 16th-century building, so you’ll get to experience a slice of old-world Paris. Meanwhile, the owners are so friendly and will take great care of you! 

The rooms are simple yet cozy, equipped with a TV with cable channels, a wardrobe, and heating. Some rooms offer lovely city views, while the en suite bathrooms come with a hairdryer and free toiletries.

For easy access to other parts of the city, Saint-Michel RER and Metro Station are just a 5-minute walk away. This means you’ve got direct routes to Charles de Gaulle Airport, Gare du Nord, and Château de Versailles right on your doorstep. 

Rooms here tend to range from €115 to €150 per night. The word is out about this great value spot, though, so book your stay ASAP!

Opéra 

The Opéra district in Paris stretches from the stunning Opéra Garnier down south all the way up to the foot of Montmartre in the north. It’s the perfect spot for anyone wanting easy access to the rest of the city, and if you’re planning to catch a show at the Opéra, it doesn’t get much better than this!

This lively and historic district is full of culture and charm. We love exploring its elegant boulevards, which make it one of the most iconic neighborhoods in the city. We also find it offers pretty great value for money, and it’s not too far out from the center, either. And in terms of hotels, you’ve got tons of options!

The 9th is also home to some of Paris’ best shopping, with renowned department stores like Galeries Lafayette and Printemps on offer. You’ll also find plenty of cozy cafés where we love to relax and watch the world go by.

Last but not least, Opéra is super well connected by Paris’ extensive metro system. In fact, the Opéra Station is a major hub. I think it’s a great base for exploring!

Pros:

• More affordable than most central neighborhoods
• Well-connected by public transport
• Great cafes and restaurants 

Cons

• No big attractions besides the Opera Garnier
• Traffic can be noisy

Luxury – $$$

The Astra Opera Hotel is a stylish and modern hotel located in the heart of Paris, just between the iconic Opera Garnier and Place de La Madeleine. The Galeries Lafayette department stores are also just a short walk away.

The rooms are sleek and soundproofed, equipped with all the essentials, including free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and satellite TV. They’re modern and bright, with big windows and stylish bathrooms. 

We also love the hotel’s indoor pool and sauna. It’s perfect for when you need some downtime between sightseeing! Guests can also enjoy free non-alcoholic drinks and snacks in the lobby from the afternoon to late evening. We think this is such a cute touch – and ideal if you just need something to keep you going until dinner time.

Mid-range – $$

New Hotel Opéra is a stylish and inviting hotel located in the vibrant Opéra district, just a few minutes from the chic shopping area of Galeries Lafayette and the lively theatres of Montmartre. 

The rooms feature unique artwork painted by local artists. I think it gives each room a unique and personal touch! Meanwhile, guests can enjoy breakfast on the charming rooftop terrace, which offers a nice garden view. 

The hotel is also super close to the Metro Station Liège and 750 meters from Saint-Lazare Metro Station. In short, it’s an excellent base for discovering the rest of Paris. It’s a great mid-range option for travelers who want to be close to key attractions and still have all of their creature comforts.

Budget – $

Hotel Royal Mansart offers a basic and affordable stay. I mean, if you plan to be out exploring all day, then why not save your budget for fun activities instead?

It’s a 10-minute walk from Montmartre, so it’s perfect for anyone who’s keen to explore Paris’ Boho haven. Meanwhile, there’s a metro station just 5 minutes away, so you’ve got excellent links to other parts of the city. It’s close to the Moulin Rouge, too!

In short, I would say that this place is perfect if you’re short on time in Paris and want an affordable and central hotel to use as a base for your adventures. They have a pretty generous cancellation policy, too, allowing you to stay flexible.

6. 7th Arrondissement

Paris’ 7th arrondissement is arguably the city’s most elegant neighborhood—oh, and it’s home to the Eiffel Tower, which is one of the most famous landmarks in the world. It’s a Left Bank neighborhood with stately architecture and wide, leafy streets. In short, it’s pretty dreamy.

Aside from the Eiffel Tower, the 7th arrondissement is also home to the beautiful Musée d’Orsay and Les Invalides, where Napoleon is buried. You can also catch boat cruises along the Seine from right next to the Eiffel Tower and enjoy a picnic beneath this towering landmark in the Champ de Mars park.

So, there’s plenty to do around here, but I will say that this part of Paris does feel a little bit quieter and more polished than buzzy areas like Marais and the Latin Quarter. We think it’s the perfect fit for travelers who want to be close to major sights but prefer a calmer and more sophisticated area.

As long as you’re not too fussed about nightlife, this is an ideal area of Paris to stay in. It’s also very well connected by Paris’s bus and metro systems, so it’s easy to get to other areas of the city from here.

Pros:

• Sophisticated area with beautiful architecture
• Home to several major attractions, including the Eiffel Tower
• Safe and quiet 

Cons:

• Not much in the way of nightlife and café culture
• One of the most expensive areas of Paris

Luxury – $$$

My Maison In Paris Invalides is a super stylish aparthotel in a quiet part of the 7th arrondissement. It’s ideal for anyone who wants to be close to major sights, minus crowds, noise, and chaos. The property is just a 15-minute walk from the Eiffel Tower, and about 20 minutes from the Musée d’Orsay on foot.

The chic apartments feature air conditioning, full kitchens, washing machines, and balconies in select units. There’s even a fitness room, which is always a nice bonus. It’s a great pick for families or couples who want a more independent Paris experience in a beautiful, residential area. 

Prices range between €300 and €550 per night for a studio.

Mid-range – $$

Timhotel Invalides Eiffel is a charming boutique hotel that’s just a 10-minute stroll from the Eiffel Tower. It’s also a 2-minute walk from the Hotel des Invalides, where Napoleon is buried, and 15 minutes’ walk from the Champs-Elysées. 

The location couldn’t be better, and we also really like the bar because it feels a bit like an old wine cellar. The rooms have an elegant, old Parisian feel, and the terrace area is very cute. We think this is a great mid-range option for anyone wanting to experience that classic Parisian charm with a quiet, local feel.

Prices at Timhotel Invalides Eiffel average around €200–€300 per night, depending on the season.

Budget – $ 

Beatrice et Emmanuel Meublé Eiffel is a fantastic budget-friendly option in an unbeatable location. I mean, it doesn’t get better than being just a 10-minute walk from the Eiffel Tower, does it?

This hotel is a great pick if you’re looking to be close to Paris’ top attractions but don’t want to spend a fortune. These studios and apartments are compact but carefully designed to ensure you have everything you need for a comfortable stay.

Well-equipped kitchenettes mean you can save money on dining out, and being able to get to the Musée d’Orsay and the Champs-Élysées on foot is also super helpful. For travelers on a budget, this central spot is a real gem. You can expect to pay around €200–€250 here for a studio during peak season.
