Itinerary Overview
Getting around Page is simple, but you’ll definitely need a rental car. This small desert town is spread out, and it doesn’t have much of a public transport system. Most of the main sights are just a 10- to 15-minute drive from one another, and having your own wheels gives you the freedom to explore at your own pace and reach all those incredible viewpoints that make Page so special.
Day 1: Start your adventure with a visit to the world-famous Upper Antelope Canyon, then spend the afternoon taking in the views around Glen Canyon and cruising across Lake Powell.
Day 2: Explore the equally stunning Lower Antelope Canyon on a guided hike, discover the beautiful Horseshoe Bend, and finish your trip by stargazing in this dark sky reserve.
Day 1
Breakfast – Ranch House Grille
Start your first morning in Page with breakfast at Ranch House Grille. This is a local favorite spot, and it opens bright and early at 6 am. It’s the perfect spot to fuel up before your Antelope Canyon tour, since it’s only a 10-minute drive from the meeting point. Today’s tour has variable start times, but you’ll always be able to grab breakfast here beforehand.
We love this laid-back diner because it really embodies those classic American small-town vibes. Plus, it serves all of the classics, like fluffy pancakes and crispy bacon—yum.
Morning – Visit Upper Antelope Canyon
Visiting Upper Antelope Canyon is a must when in Page—and that’s a must with a capital “m”! The upper canyon is the most popular slot canyon, so we recommend booking this tour in advance to ensure that you get the 8:40 am or 10:45 am slot. The availability does change, but you can usually get one of those two times. If possible, get the 8:40 am slot because then you’ll be wrapped up by 10 am and you’ll have more time to enjoy Wahweap Viewpoint.
You’re only allowed to visit the canyon on a guided tour, and this one is truly excellent. We loved our guide, Connie, who really impressed us with her knowledge of the canyon. And I honestly can’t emphasize enough just how magical the canyon is.
My jaw was on the floor as I watched the colors of the canyon walls shifting with the light. It felt like stepping into a Surrealist painting. This experience is so unique to Page, and the scenery is truly bucket-list worthy. We’ll visit quieter canyons later on in this itinerary, but trust me, you’ll definitely understand why the Upper Canyon is so popular!

Mid-day – Wahweap Viewpoint and Glen Canyon Dam
After exploring Upper Antelope Canyon, take a scenic 20-minute drive to Wahweap Viewpoint, which is located inside Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. This spot offers sweeping views of Lake Powell and the surrounding red rock landscape, and you’ll also have time for a light hike here if you’re so inclined! We recommend the nearby Hanging Gardens Trail, which is an easy 1-hour hike with some surprisingly lush desert scenery.
Just down the road from the viewpoint, you’ll find Glen Canyon Dam. This is the second-highest dam in the U.S., and stopping here to take a look around is one of the most famous things to do in Page. It’s a pretty epic photo spot!
Since there aren’t many restaurants nearby, we suggest doing what we did and stopping by a local grocery store and picking up some snacks for a picnic at the viewpoint for lunch. Then, from the Wahweap Viewpoint, it’s just a 5-minute drive to the meeting point for the next tour. This means you should have plenty of time to eat and unwind, although you might need to swing by your hotel to pick up your swimsuit and boating gear before our next adventure (or just bring it with you this morning if you remember!)
Afternoon – Go boating on Lake Powell
After your picnic at Wahweap Viewpoint, it’s time to experience Page from a whole new perspective. Boating on Lake Powell is a must-do experience while you’re in town, and it allows you to admire the gorgeous Antelope Canyon from out on the water.
Book the 2 pm tour, which wraps up around 4 pm. The meeting point is about a 15-minute drive north of Page, but since you’ll likely already be in the Wahweap area, you can head straight there after your picnic.
This is a small-group tour, and it’s very laid-back. You’ll climb onto a boat and cruise across the deep blue waters of Lake Powell and into the winding walls of the Antelope Canyon. This is such an amazing opportunity to explore this natural landmark away from the crowds, and your Coast Guard–licensed captain will guide you to the best spots for photos. The canyon’s colors famously shift as the light changes, so it’s a dreamy photo spot, whether you’re in front of or behind the camera.
Throughout the cruise, you’ll also pass Glen Canyon Dam, Wahweap Bay, and other stunning desert formations while your captain teaches you about the area’s history and geology. And thanks to the open-bow boat, you’ll have panoramic views the entire time.
If you’re visiting in the warmer months (June through September), we highly recommend bringing a towel and swimsuit with you on the tour because you’ll have the chance to jump in for a quick swim. After all, it’s not every day you get to swim in Lake Powell!

Dinner – El Tapatio
After a full day of sightseeing and adventures, dinner at El Tapatio is the perfect way to relax and refuel. But first, take some time to freshen up and chill out at your hotel, especially if you went swimming on the boat cruise!
El Tapatio is a short drive from most hotels in town, so there’s no need to rush around. And once you arrive, you’ll see why this Mexican restaurant is so popular! There’s a friendly atmosphere, and the food is so full of flavor, especially the sizzling fajitas. It’s colorful and lively, and they offer fresh drinks and cold local brews to wash your food down with, so we think it’s the ideal spot to cap off a fun first day in Page.
Day 2
Breakfast – Lake Powell Espresso
We’ve got an action-packed day today, so start your morning on the right note with a hearty breakfast at Lake Powell Espresso, a local favorite that opens bright and early at 6 am. It’s just a 10-minute drive from the meeting point for your morning tour, so it’s easy to fit in a meal before heading out.
There’s something for everyone on the menu here, from fresh pastries, avocado toast, and bagels to big breakfast burritos—yum! And if you’re all about that protein, get one of their hearty egg plates. The coffee here is great, too.
Morning – Hike Lower Antelope Canyon
We explored Upper Antelope Canyon yesterday, but today we’re going to visit Lower Antelope Canyon on this guided hiking adventure! There are a lot of departure times available each day, but we recommend booking this tour for anywhere between 8:45 am and 10:15 am.
The route is a loop that features narrow passages, steep staircases, and eight ladders to climb along the way, so you will need to be fairly fit and mobile for this tour. As an avid hiker, I actually found that the extra effort really made the whole experience feel way more adventurous and fun!
We started with a short walk through the desert to reach the canyon entrance, then we descended a long staircase deep into the sandstone. There, we found ourselves surrounded by flowing, multicolored rock formations carved by centuries of wind and water. It was a pretty incredible feeling, I must say. Along the way, our guide also shared lots of stories with us about Navajo history and geology, which made the experience feel that much richer.
The hike itself takes about an hour to an hour and a half. You’ll definitely want to wear sturdy shoes and be ready for a bit of climbing, but the effort is absolutely worth it. It’s such an immersive way to experience Page’s breathtaking scenery—no wonder it has over 5,600+ five-star reviews!

Lunch – Slackers
Depending on the timing of your morning tour (and how much you ate at breakfast), you may or may not be hungry now. If you’re ready for food, head to Slackers for one of their juicy burgers. They also do lighter sandwiches and salads if you prefer!
This is another laid-back spot that just has that classic Arizona feel. The menu is all on chalkboards, and the food comes in red baskets with checkered red-and-white liners. It basically takes you back to the 1950s, so even if you’re not super hungry, you might like to come in and just grab a cold soda or a local brew.
Afternoon – Secret Antelope Canyon & Horseshoe Bend Tour
We’ve seen the Upper and Lower Antelope Canyons, but this afternoon we’re going to discover a secret spot AND see the beautiful Horseshoe Bend—sounds fun, right? Of course, you’ll need a local to let you into the area’s hidden secrets, so book this tour for 1 pm or later and get ready to see Page beyond the typical tourist sites.
I must say that the Secret Antelope Canyon stop is especially memorable. It’s still relatively unknown, so we had the slot canyon almost to ourselves when we visited. It’s harder to get to this part of the canyon, so there are far fewer crowds, and it boasts the same narrow passages, wavy walls, and crazy light beams as the more popular Upper and Lower Canyons.
And not only was the Secret Canyon itself amazing, getting there was a blast! We took an off-road 4×4 ride through Navajo Land, taking in all the red rocks and cacti along the way. It was exhilarating, and our open-air truck was well-shaded and actually pretty comfortable.
After the canyon, we were taken to a private viewpoint of Horseshoe Bend. I’ve done the public trail before, which is long and hot. This one, however, was less than a five-minute walk, so there was no risk of sunburn and overheating, but the view was just as jaw-dropping! This tour is an amazing way to see Page’s hidden gems that most visitors miss, and we can’t say enough good things about it.

Late afternoon – Explore downtown Page
Page doesn’t have a sprawling downtown, but its small center is charming and definitely worth a stroll! We suggest taking an hour or so to wander the streets and pop into a few boutique shops, or check out some local art and souvenirs. As you explore, you’ll get a feel for the town’s friendly vibe and probably want to snap a few photos along the way.
Dinner – State 48 Tavern
When you’ve finished exploring downtown Page, head to State 48 Tavern for a relaxed dinner. This spot is located in the heart of town, so you can just walk here after exploring, or drive from your hotel if you want to head back for a minute before dinner. Aim to get here between 6:30 and 7 pm so that you have time to enjoy your meal before heading out stargazing!
This tavern has a really welcoming vibe and plenty of seating, so you probably won’t need to book a table. As for the menu, it’s all about hearty American favorites, so leave diets at the door and tuck into one of their big burgers or sandwiches, or the BBQ mac and cheese is just amazing. You can also enjoy a great selection of local drinks from the bar. Just keep in mind that State 48 Tavern is closed on Tuesdays, so make sure to plan ahead!
Night – Go stargazing
Did you know that Page is situated in a dark sky reserve? This means that it’s protected from light pollution for astronomical observation. It’s easily one of the best places in the US to go stargazing, so take advantage of that while you’re here!
It’s pretty easy to go stargazing on your own in Page, no need to join a tour! Horseshoe Bend is one of the best spots, and the dramatic curves of the river will make your photos even more stunning. Or for extra ease, you can go back to Wahweap Viewpoint, where you were yesterday.
Bring a blanket or camping chair if you have them, and maybe a thermos of something warm, then just settle in to watch the night sky. This is a truly bucket list activity, so what better way to cap off your two-day adventure in Page?
