After visiting Aruba more times than we can count, we’ve narrowed down exactly how to spend five unforgettable days on this beautiful island. From snorkeling at shipwrecks to relaxing on powdery white sand, Aruba is the kind of place that keeps you coming back, and we’ve packed all our favorite stops into this easy-to-follow itinerary.

The best part? It’s a great mix of laid-back beach time and can’t-miss adventures, so you won’t feel rushed but still get to see the highlights. Whether it’s your first visit or your fifth, this 5-day Aruba itinerary will help you make the most of your time on the island. Let’s dive in!

Itinerary Overview

This Aruba itinerary is designed with the island’s laid-back vibe in mind. We’ve intentionally left plenty of free time so you can relax and soak up the sun on the beach with a drink in hand. That said, we’ve also included a few unforgettable experiences to keep things exciting!

The main city, Oranjestad, is great for dining and shopping, but since Eagle Beach and Palm Beach are just a 10-minute drive away, you’ll likely spend most of your time unwinding in those beachy hotspots.

When it comes to getting around, renting a car is the easiest and most flexible option, especially if you plan to explore beyond the resort areas. We always rent through Discover Cars and highly recommend it while in Aruba!

While Aruba is small and easy to navigate, public buses do run between the major areas if you’re looking to save a bit of money. Taxis are also available, though they don’t run on meters, and fares are fixed and can add up quickly. Since there are no rideshare apps like Uber or Lyft on the island, organized tours can also be a great way to reach some of the more remote natural landmarks without the stress of driving.

Now I’ll go into a quick overview of what you can expect from each day.

Day 1: Your first day kicks off with a catamaran cruise and snorkeling adventure. Afterward, spend the afternoon beach hopping through Noord and in the evening, head up to the California Lighthouse for panoramic views.

Day 2: The second day, you’ll head out on a 4×4 jeep excursion to explore Aruba’s wild side. After a full day of off-roading and ocean views, you can look forward to dinner on the beach and local flavors at one of our favorite restaurants.

Day 3: The third day, you’ll spend on either Renaissance Private Island or De Palm Private Island. In the evening, hop aboard a happy hour sunset cruise to end the day with ocean breezes, cocktails, and unbeatable views.

Day 4: Start with a guided mural tour through the colorful streets of San Nicolas. Afterward, relax at a beach before heading out on a scenic horseback ride through Arikok National Park. In the evening, wander through downtown Oranjestad to admire the bright, colonial-style architecture and the island’s lively atmosphere.

Day 5: Start off day five with an unforgettable underwater adventure aboard a real submarine. In the afternoon, take it easy with some well-deserved beach time and if you’re up for it, try parasailing for a bird’s-eye view of Aruba’s stunning coastline. You will spend the final evening along the lively Palm Beach Strip.

Day 1

Breakfast – Craft Coffee & Bar

Start your day with breakfast at Craft Coffee & Bar, a cozy little café just a five-minute stroll from where the catamaran tour begins. Since there’s an open bar on the boat (vacation mode fully engaged), it’s a smart move to eat something hearty before you head out.

If you’re prone to seasickness and nervous about having a big meal, trust me, I get it. I always pack motion sickness meds just in case. That said, catamarans are a lot steadier than smaller boats, and I’ve never had an issue on them. Plus, there are snacks onboard, so if you feel better sticking to something light, you’ll still be covered.

Morning – Go snorkeling on a catamaran cruise

After breakfast, make your way down to Palm Beach and hop aboard a catamaran for one of my absolute favorite experiences in Aruba. This 2.5-hour snorkeling tour is the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation with just enough time to soak up the sun, sip a few drinks, and explore some of the island’s best snorkeling spots.

We went with the 9:30 am departure and loved it because it left us with plenty of time to enjoy the rest of the day. But if you’re someone who prefers a slower start, the afternoon option is a great choice too.

The first stop is the Antilla Shipwreck, and let me tell you, snorkeling here is unforgettable. The wreck itself is massive and a little eerie in the best way, especially once you learn it was intentionally sunk during WWII to avoid capture.

Next, you’ll head to Catalina Bay, which is the kind of spot you see on postcards. The water is so clear and warm, and I was completely surrounded by schools of colorful fish while snorkeling—seriously, it felt like swimming in an aquarium.

The crew is amazing too. They make sure you’re safe, relaxed, and never without a drink in hand (plus, the snacks are a nice touch). There’s something magical about gliding across the turquoise water with a cocktail in hand, stretched out on the front net, sun on your face, and island music in the background. Total vacation bliss.

Lunch – Eduardo’s Beach Shack

After the catamaran cruise, take a short 10-minute stroll over to Eduardo’s Beach Shack for a light and refreshing lunch. We were still feeling pretty full from breakfast and the snacks on board, so this spot was perfect, quick, casual, and delicious. 

The poke bowls were our favorite, but there are plenty of healthy options like smoothie bowls, wraps, and fresh juices if you’re craving something light and beachy.

Afternoon – Go beach hopping in Noord

After lunch, spend the afternoon doing what Aruba does best, beach hopping! Noord is home to some of the island’s most iconic stretches of sand, and while you won’t get to all of them today, this is a great chance to visit one or two and save the rest for later in the trip. Here are some of our favorites:

• Palm Beach – One of the most popular beaches in Aruba, Palm Beach is lined with high-rise resorts, beach bars, and activity vendors. It’s lively and a bit touristy, but there’s always something going on, and the water is perfect for swimming.
  
• Eagle Beach – Quieter and more laid-back than Palm Beach, Eagle Beach is known for its powdery white sand and iconic divi divi tree. It’s a beautiful spot to relax under the sun without the crowds.
  
• Malmok Beach – This stretch of coastline is great for snorkeling, with calm, shallow waters and lots of marine life. If you’re heading here, make sure to stop at Tres Trapi Beach, a little cove with steps carved into the rock—it’s a local favorite for snorkeling.
  
• Arashi Beach – Easily one of the most stunning beaches on the island, Arashi is peaceful, has crystal-clear water, and is perfect for both swimming and snorkeling. It never feels too crowded, which makes it a great place to wind down for a while.
  
• Boca Catalina – Just north of Palm Beach, this small, relaxed beach is loved by both locals and visitors. It’s a great mix of calm water and scenic views, with easy snorkeling right from the shore.

Dinner – Faro Blanco Restaurant

After a full day of beach hopping, head back to your hotel to freshen up before dinner. Tonight, treat yourself to a meal at Faro Blanco Restaurant, one of the most scenic dining spots on the island. 

It’s perched on a hill right next to the California Lighthouse, so if you arrive just before sunset, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views as the sun goes down. The food is a bit on the pricier side, but it’s delicious, and the ambiance totally makes it worth it. 

Evening – California Lighthouse

Since Faro Blanco Restaurant is located right next to the California Lighthouse, it’s an easy (and beautiful) way to wrap up your evening. You’ll get another chance to explore the lighthouse later in the trip, but seeing it at night is something special. It’s all lit up after dark, and the view of the stars from up here is absolutely worth lingering for before heading back to your hotel.

Day 2

Full day – Take a 4×4 jeep excursion to Natural Pool and Baby Beach

Today’s all about adventure, so grab a quick breakfast on the go, pack your swimsuit (you’ll definitely want it), and get ready for our top pick experience in Aruba.

This full-day 4×4 Land Rover tour runs from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm and takes you to some of the island’s most incredible natural landmarks, including two of our favorites, Baby Beach and the Natural Pool. Last time we were in Aruba, we did this tour and had an absolute blast. I’ve done ATV tours before, but this was my first time in a Land Rover, and honestly, I’m a convert. These things can handle terrain that ATVs wouldn’t dare go near, and the ride itself is half the fun!

The day starts with a visit to Baby Beach, a calm, crescent-shaped bay with soft white sand and water so clear you can see your toes. I couldn’t resist jumping in for a swim and a quick snorkel, it’s the kind of beach that’s hard to leave. After that, we headed into Arikok National Park to reach Conchi, the Natural Pool. Nestled between volcanic rock formations and filled by the crashing waves just beyond, it felt like our own little hidden paradise.

Along the way, we also stopped at some of Aruba’s most iconic landmarks, like the California Lighthouse, which has a cool backstory tied to an 1800s shipwreck, and the Bushiribana Gold Mill Ruins, remnants of Aruba’s brief gold rush era. 

What I loved most was how well-balanced the day felt. We packed in so many sights, but there was still time to relax and enjoy the scenery. This is one of those tours I’d happily do again, and if you only do one big adventure while in Aruba, make it this one.

Dinner – Passions On The Beach

After a full day bouncing around the island and swimming, head back to your hotel to clean up and recharge. For dinner, treat yourself to Passions On The Beach, where the tables are set right in the sand and the waves are just steps away. It sits on Eagle Beach, so the location couldn’t be more convenient.

We got here right around sunset, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The sky was glowing, the ocean was calm, and the drinks were strong. The food is fresh and flavorful, and the setting is easily one of the most romantic on the island. After such an adventurous day, this is the ideal place to slow things down.

Day 3

Breakfast – The Dutch Pancakehouse

Begin your day with breakfast at The Dutch Pancakehouse, a popular spot located right next to the port in Oranjestad. Since Aruba is a Dutch colony, pancakes here are a big deal, and they’re not your average flapjacks either.

These thin, crepe-like creations come with both sweet and savory toppings, and there are dozens of combinations to choose from. It’s a fun, filling, and very “Aruba” way to begin your day.

Morning/afternoon – Spend a day on a private island

Today is all about soaking up those island vibes, and there’s no better way to do that than with a relaxing day on a private island. Aruba has two dreamy options: Renaissance Island and De Palm Island. Both are stunning, full of tropical charm, and home to those iconic beach-dwelling flamingos.

A little planning is required to visit either island, but don’t worry! We’ll walk you through exactly how to access each one below.

Renaissance Island

If you want the famous Flamingo Beach photo-op, Renaissance Island is the way to go. The Renaissance Wind Creek Hotel owns this private island, and staying there is the easiest way to get access. You can check prices and book your stay here! If you’re not a guest, day passes are available online at 9 am on the Saturday before your intended visit. These passes sell out fast, so be sure to be online right at 9 am (Aruba time) with your payment info ready to go. 

They’re $125 USD and include a water taxi, $25 food and beverage credit, towels, floats, snorkeling gear, and access to both Flamingo Beach and Iguana Beach (yes, with iguanas!). It’s definitely more exclusive and perfect if you’re looking for a quieter, more luxurious beach day. 

Beyond the flamingos and iguanas, there are shaded cabanas, overwater hammocks, and plenty of space to swim or snorkel in the calm, clear water. You can also enjoy cocktails and light bites from the beachside bar while watching planes land and enjoying the views.

De Palm Island

If you want something a little more laid-back (and easier to book), De Palm Island is a great alternative. It’s packed with fun perks like all-inclusive food and drinks, banana boat rides, dance lessons, snorkeling, and more. You’ll still see flamingos here, but only with the upgraded VIP package. You can purchase tickets online with or without transportation to the ferry port, depending on what’s easiest for you. 

This option feels more like a beach club experience and is ideal if you’re traveling with friends or kids and want a bit more activity in your day. There’s also a small water park with slides for the little ones, shaded lounge areas for relaxing, and even options to book extras like SNUBA or a sea trek helmet dive. 

It’s easy to spend the entire day here without ever running out of things to do. Whether you want to lounge with a drink in hand or stay active in the water, De Palm Island gives you the best of both worlds.

Evening – Enjoy a sunset cruise (with happy hour!)

Be sure to make your way back from the islands in time to check in for this epic sunset cruise at 4:30 pm, since it departs from Palm Beach and sails until 7 pm. We loved this experience and honestly think it’s one of the best ways to end a day in Aruba.

The boat is a sleek, 40-foot trimaran with plenty of cushioned lounge seating, and it never felt overcrowded. The vibe was super relaxed and friendly, less like a big tour group and more like a chill sunset hangout. The open bar was a highlight for us, especially the local Aruba Ariba cocktails, and they had a solid selection of mocktails too.

What really stood out was the service. Every 15 minutes, the crew came around with a different round of appetizers, and they were surprisingly good. We didn’t lift a finger the whole time! Between the great food, strong drinks, and amazing views of the coast, it was such a laid-back but memorable way to wrap up the day.

Dinner – MooMba Beach Bar & Restaurant

After the cruise, take the short 10-minute walk over to MooMba Beach Bar & Restaurant, a casual spot that’s great for a beachside dinner and drinks. With your toes in the sand and the sound of the ocean in the background, it’s a super relaxed way to end the evening. 

This place is especially lively on Sundays with music and a fun crowd, so if you’re in the mood to keep the night going, it’s a great place to hang out!

Day 4

Morning – Learn about Aruba’s art and history

Start your day with something a little different and dive into Aruba’s local culture on this guided mural and history tour through the vibrant town of San Nicolas. The tour starts at 9:30 am and includes hotel pickup, so it’s super easy to fit into your morning. Over the course of two hours, you’ll walk through colorful streets filled with massive murals, each one hand-painted by artists from around the world and tied to Aruba’s culture, history, or community stories.

What we really loved about this tour was how much context the guide gave us. Instead of just snapping photos of pretty walls, we learned about Aruba’s past, from its indigenous roots to colonial influences, and how that’s all reflected in the art. San Nicolas feels totally different from the rest of the island—less polished, more local, and it ended up being one of the most interesting stops on our trip.

The tour also includes a visit to a small community museum and a few local landmarks that give you an even deeper sense of Aruba beyond the beaches. It’s an eye-opening way to start the day, especially if you enjoy mixing a little history and storytelling into your travel. We left feeling like we got to know a more authentic side of the island.

Early Afternoon – Hit a beach!

After the tour, head back to your hotel area and take it easy for a bit. This is your chance to squeeze in more beach time because, really, is there such a thing as too much beach time in Aruba? 

Whether you lie out on the nearest beach, grab a casual lunch, or explore some local shops, you’ll have a few relaxed hours before the afternoon adventure kicks off.

We personally saved Arashi Beach for this afternoon, as we were looking for some serious chill vibes. It definitely delivered! Plus, the water was calm and clear, so we could have a leisurely swim and snorkel. And if you haven’t checked out the divi divi trees on Eagle Beach yet, do it now!

Afternoon – Take a horseback ride in Arikok National Park

In the afternoon, get ready for a totally different way to explore Aruba, on this horseback tour of Arikok National Park! Starting at 3 pm and including hotel pickup and drop-off, it’s super easy and low-stress. Even if you’re new to riding, the guides are patient, helpful, and great at matching each person with a horse that fits their experience level. Just make sure to wear closed-toe shoes and bring a bit of sun protection since the desert sun can be strong even later in the day.

The ride takes you through Arikok National Park, and even though you’ve already come through here on the 4×4 tour, this experience feels unique in an entirely different way. It takes you down remote, dusty trails lined with towering cacti and up rocky hills to climb to the park’s highlands. The views stretch all the way to the sea and are absolutely incredible. It’s quiet, peaceful, and the kind of experience that lets you slow down and really take in the scenery.

One of the main highlights is Conchi, the island’s famous natural pool. Only accessible by horseback, 4×4, or on foot, it feels like a hidden oasis. If conditions allow, you’ll have time for a quick swim or to simply sit and watch the waves crash against the volcanic rock.

This experience wraps up by 5:30 pm, and we thought it was the perfect change of pace for our day!

Evening – Check out downtown Oranjestad

After the horseback tour, head back to your hotel for a quick rinse before venturing out for a low-key evening in downtown Oranjestad. This part of the city feels completely different from the resort areas, with its brightly colored colonial buildings, quiet streets, and charming architecture. We really enjoyed just strolling around here and soaking up the local vibe.

We stopped for dinner at Driftwood Restaurant, which is just behind Main St. in the central part of town. This is one of the best local seafood spots in the city and was the perfect way to relax into the evening!

Eventually, make your way down to the waterfront, which is especially pretty in the evening. We stopped at West Deck for after-dinner drinks with a view overlooking the ocean. Now this is the iconic, picturesque Aruba I was hoping for!

Day 5

Breakfast – Aruba Experience Café – Pâtisserie 

After a few adventure-filled days, today starts a little slower, so sleep in and enjoy a relaxed breakfast at Aruba Experience Café – Pâtisserie. Tucked away in a charming little courtyard in downtown Oranjestad, this café is just a 6-minute walk from where the morning tour departs at 11 am.

They serve up great coffee, fresh juices, and a selection of pastries, toasts, and breakfast bowls. We loved the cozy vibe and the shaded outdoor seating, and we think you will too.

Morning – Explore underwater in a submarine

After breakfast, take a quick walk over to the dock in Oranjestad for a completely different kind of ocean experience. This underwater adventure aboard a real submarine gives you a fascinating look at Aruba’s marine life without ever getting wet! This tour runs from around 11 am to 1 pm, which is the perfect amount of time under the surface.

The tour starts with a short safety briefing before you board a US Coast Guard-certified submarine and settle into a seat beside your own porthole window. We cruised past Barcadera Reef, where we saw tons of tropical fish, bright coral, and even spotted an eel weaving through the rocks! But the real highlight? Gliding right by two sunken shipwrecks resting on the ocean floor. The guide shared the history behind each one, and the whole thing felt like we were part of an underwater documentary.

This submarine can actually dive as deep as 130 feet (40 meters), which is deeper than most recreational scuba dives, so whether you’re a seasoned diver or someone who prefers to stay dry, this tour is seriously cool. At the end, they even hand out an official dive certificate, which makes for a fun little souvenir. This submarine tour is a great pick for families or anyone curious about Aruba’s underwater world.

Afternoon – Relax on the beach

This is your chance to visit any of the beaches you haven’t hit yet. Whether it’s going back to a favorite or checking out somewhere new, you really can’t go wrong. 

We recommend grabbing a quick lunch near whatever beach you choose so you can spend the rest of the afternoon lounging, swimming, or just soaking up those last few hours of island sunshine. After a packed few days, a slow, beachy afternoon is exactly what you’ll want.

Go Parasailing

For a little thrill before dinner, head to Palm Beach and go parasailing in the late afternoon. We recommend booking the 3 or 4 pm slot so you have time to hang out at the beach after the morning tour. 

Parasailing is such a fun way to get a different perspective of Aruba and, of course, an adrenaline rush. Soaring high above the coastline with panoramic views is an unforgettable experience we know you’ll love. The takeoff and landing are super smooth, and the ride itself is peaceful once you’re in the air. Evening – Palm Beach Strip

Wrap up your last night in Aruba with a fun evening along the Palm Beach Strip, one of the island’s liveliest areas, and a great send-off to your time on Aruba. Start with dinner at Bugaloe Beach Bar & Grill, a casual, beachfront spot with live music and a laid-back vibe. We think it’s perfect for watching the sunset and getting in the nightlife mood.

After dinner, there are tons of options depending on what you’re looking for. The Sopranos Piano Bar is a favorite for live music and mildly intoxicated sing-alongs, while Craft Coffee & Bar (yes, the same one from day one!) totally transforms after dark and serves up great cocktails. 

If you’re feeling lucky, there are plenty of casinos nearby, or head to Gusto’s Nightclub if you want to end the trip with some dancing. Whether you bar-hop or just pick a cozy spot to relax, Palm Beach is the perfect place to toast to an amazing trip. Cheers!

Renaissance Wind Creek Aruba – $$$

Staying at the Renaissance Wind Creek Aruba is one of those bucket list stays, perfect if you’re here for a honeymoon, anniversary, or just looking for an ultra-luxury getaway! Staying here is your ticket to Renaissance Island and Flamingo Beach, but you can also enjoy the casino, full-service spa, nine restaurant options, pools, scuba diving, snorkeling, and secluded resort vibes. They offer an adult-only resort or a family-friendly one, and you can book standard hotel rooms or full suites.

Amsterdam Manor Beach Resort – $$

For a luxury stay, I recommend the Amsterdam Manor Beach Resort. Located right off of Eagle Beach, you can choose between full apartments or suite-style rooms to really relax into your stay. I love the Dutch architecture, and also the pools, restaurants, and spa that are all located onsite. The ambiance at this resort is unmatched, and being steps from one of Aruba’s top beaches doesn’t hurt either!

Aruba Lagunita – $

Aruba Lagunita is my personal favorite hotel option, as it’s located close to both Eagle Beach and Palm Beach! This hotel features apartment-style rooms with a full kitchen and a nice large patio. There’s a hot tub and pool, a game area, and even mini-golf! I like that it has all the amenities of a luxury stay, without breaking the bank or being a massive resort.

Renting a Car in the Caribbean

Renting a car in the Caribbean gives you the freedom to explore beyond the resorts—think secluded beaches, remote viewpoints, and vibrant local towns that buses don’t reach. Tips for Renting a Car in the Caribbean

• Know the driving side: Some Caribbean islands drive on the left, while others stick to the right. It really varies island to island, so double-check before you go—and make sure you’re comfortable driving on that side of the road, especially if it’s different from home.
• Know the local driving rules: Road laws and signage can differ between islands, so it’s worth doing a quick check before pickup. Seatbelts are usually mandatory, texting and driving is typically illegal, and honking is often just a friendly heads-up. Expect low speed limits and shared roads—think scooters, pedestrians, and even the occasional animal—so stay alert and take your time!
• Add full insurance: Roads can be unpredictable, with potholes, hills, and narrow lanes—especially outside resort areas. What You Need to Rent a Car in the Caribbean

• A valid driver’s license from your home country.
• On some islands, a temporary/visitor’s driving permit may be required. These are normally issued by the rental agency for a fee. Check with your company in advance, so you’re not surprised by extra costs at pickup!
• An IDP (International Driving Permit) may be required depending on your destination and the language of your license. Always check the country’s requirements beforehand so you’re prepared.
• A credit card in the driver’s name is typically required for the security deposit.
